Understatement of the century, I know but man demi must be making a killing from the shielding, especially for season rankings now.

I want in too. I have to admit the past week or so this game has been so screwed up that I am not enjoying it as much. I'm sure things will get fixed, but if this keeps up I'll just play more LoL. icon_e_smile.gif

    This. XD
  • I've gotten a chance to join an alliance that better fits my goals, but they needed a decision soon since season 2 was ending. I have decided to join them since me staying here won't matter to the alliance in terms of placing high enough to get alliance rewards, but my score will matter to the alliance reward of my new alliance. I wish everyone the best going forward.

Don't blame you if the performance lately was an issue--we went from regularly top 100 to barely top 200 these days. Lots of people are barely playing these days...

Have fun wherever you end up youngjk. I will now ruthlessly hunt you down and attack you at every opportunity. icon_twisted.gif

OK, based on what was mentioned in the forums in the last week, I decided to add some rules to the alliance. The reason for this is mostly the lack of success in the last events. I still want to keep the alliance casual, meaning we don't have to be 24/7 in the game and trying to get 800+ in each event, but we need to put more effort if we want the alliance to have any meaning. 50 HP from each pvp is fine, but it's the covers that matter at this point. Unless we get those, being part of an alliance doesn't differ much from not being part of one. So here are the rules.

    1) If at the end of the 3rd season, a member doesn't have at least 7k points in season leaderboards, he will be asked to leave the alliance for a member who is more interested in the game.

    2) If 1 week before the end of the 3rd season, a member doesn't have at least 4k points in season leaderboards, he will be asked to leave the alliance.

    3) If at the end of the season we manage to get top 100 and some members are in the area of 5-7k we can decide to allow them to remain in the alliance. However this can't be the rule in all future seasons for those players.

The 2nd rule is there to ensure we don't act AFTER a failure. So if someone has 2-3k 1 week before the end, there is no way to catch up and the score makes it obvious he is not an active player. So we get a a chance to bring someone on board who is more thirsty for covers and we increase our chances for a Fury.

The 3rd rule is there to ensure the casual character of the alliance. If we succeed in our goal then even if someone couldn't play much during a season because of vacation or a busy schedule, they don't have to suffer the consequences. They still have to be active the rest of the season though, which is why he needs at least 5+K points.

Getting 7k, which is the red line for this season, may prove difficult considering we are entering summer and the weather (at least in Northern Hemisphere) makes it more difficult to stay in games, so we may have to change that number. It will depend on the performance of the alliance and of the player base overall.

A season lasts 4 weeks which means 12 pvp events. If someone aims to get 400-500 points in each one, that makes ~ 12*450 = 5400 points. With 1500 points from Sim, we will be in the safe zone. Getting 400 points from a pvp and 1500 from the Sim is not hard assuming a players plays often. Someone who places 6 times during season in top 10 (~900 needed for that) could skip the remaining 6 pvp and still be fine with 1500 from Sim, so we are still casual. I believe an alliance score of 20*7k = 140k is not enough for a top 100, however, since many will get more points than 7K we should be fine. If at the end of the season we are short a few points for a top 100 we may have to ask people to be aggressive in the last pvp despite having the 7k points. I don't believe we'll have to do this, but, just in case, I wanted to mention it now.

    This is it for now.

I see some guys are almost exclusively pve and some are pvp--this results in poor standings for both for our otherwise awesome, most fabulous alliance that is Wyldside.

How do we address this issue? Discuss!

Oh and youngjk i know you're out there somewhere and I WILL find you! /cue ominous music
  • At the end of the day it needs to be decided if a certain cover comes up in pve then we all go for that otherwise we are divided, otherwise we should stick to pvp to maximise our chances eg a 4 star etc in my opinion we need to boot players that are in-active for certain time unless they specifie eg away for weekend, holiday etc
If newbies join they should be out to prove themselves as it should be a prevledge to join our gang!,,
    Just my drunkin thoughts".............

Nzdillz your drunken post was very clear--you're apparently more coherent while drunk than while sober using in game chat! icon_lol.gif

Good feedback, I think we need to formalize the expectations between pvp and pve still...
  • I understand why someone who has almost every character maxed doesn't want to play in every pvp. I am getting there myself since only 5-6 of my heroes need badly covers, and tokens are mostly sold for ISO these days. If this is the case, then being a permanent member of an alliance is not necessary. It is best for someone who wants to play in 4-5 pvp each month to become a merc. There are always alliances with members who are bored and leave and temp replacements are becoming even more common.

Personally, I am much more interested in pvp because I get at least 2 covers with only 3 hours of work, ... I meant gaming in 2.5 days. Compared to the 7-9 days you need in pve, this is great value. This is why I didn't add a rule about pve. Asking someone to play every day 2-3 hours only in pve (if we have 1-2 daily subs) is not easy. I think if we all are more interested in pvp, and hopefully the new rules will help, we will do well in pve as well. Also, alliance covers from pvp will cover holes in our roster from bad performance in pve.
  • What Aellos has been up to, for Season 3 PVP
This is not a strategy or guide.
This is what I've been doing since Season 3 started.

My roster of characters maxes at Level 115 (don't ask why) - I think there are 6 to 7 of them.
I have every single character in the game so far.

By the end of Season 2, I was looking at match-ups of full 141s like 90% of the time.
I was using a lot of OBW(85) and Punisher(115) then.

    Tanking?
When Season 3 started, I thought I will switch it up a bit.
I went to the SHIELD SIMULATOR and used the last three characters of my team (Bag-man, Yelena, and Rags - not Hood because he was the first PVP featured)
They didn't survive long, clearly - all DOWN.
I then moved on to the next 3 lowest characters - same result.
This continued till I scored my first win, by chance, when I hit my level 50s/40s.
Then I went back to whoever has revived (Yelena...) and made sure they stayed dead one more time.

    Miscellaneous
My non-SHIELD PVP roster has been pretty consistent - Black Panther, GSBW, featured-whoever, and maybe I'll switch for other 115s if I feel like it but not Punisher or Psylocke.
    No Prologue Healing.
No non-Prologue Healing (except the times when I needed OBW to take care of goons-CD tiles, and when they buffed Spider-Man).
5 Health Packs only - strictly F2P player.
If a match ends with one of the 115s have low-health, I may send it to SHIELD to fully kill it too.
I don't send PVE-featured characters to SHIELD unless they too have low-health - DOWN, then HEALTH PACK.
I don't send Bullseye to SHIELD anymore because his Protect tiles drag the match out way too long.
I still send approx. 1.5 teams to SHIELD for every win in PVP up till 600points or so.
I'm not ashamed to send characters who have just revived with a sliver of health to SHIELD, at all.

    Result
My PVP opponents have dramatically reduced to match-ups of at-most-50s - you decide if there is a causal link.
Because opponents are at-most-50s, I can send the 115s repeatedly, even not at maxed health to battles.
I actually have 400+ points in SHIELD despite sending low-bies to the fights.
SHIELD fights are typically boring but humourous at times when I realise I actually have a chance of winning (Daredevil!)
Beyond 500/600 points, the low-50s team disappear and move on to 85s, then eventually 115s and 141s - there's no way to go about this because 50s-teams simply can't compete that high =(

tl;dr Aellos DOWNS all the sub-50s characters in his roster, over and over again at a pace he is comfortable with, and now made faster with the TRUE HEALING patch! And he no longer uses OBW =(
  • Why Aellos Caps His 3* Folks at 115
It was never because of lack-of-ISO
It started because I was short of 2 Punisher Red covers. That was my first character to hit 115.
At that time I was also heavily playing OBW with Punisher, and I really liked her Espionage ability - match, steal, hit! She was at 85.

So it transpired I had enough ISO to boost another 3* character. And that honour fell on IM40 (who was already 5/5/3) because I'm not that uber-competitive player-type.
Did you know that at Level 115, IM40's Blue is still inferior to OBW's Blue? Which means you can invoke Espionage on OBW on offence with her tanking Purple and Blue, and Punisher for Black.
Which is also cool because since she will be the first target on defense anyway, might as well let the AI inflict more damage with Espionage (I never knew about the bug with Espionage and AI)

Eventually, I got those 2 Punisher Red covers, and a whole lot more covers to level more 3* characters, but I've kept that soft-cap of 115 out of habit.
It is definitely harder when fighting full-141 teams but that's because of the MMR problem - Just because I play smart and win constantly doesn't mean I get to stay pitted against opponents of similar level whether on offense or defense.

Funny thing is, I no longer actively use Punisher and OBW in PVP anymore.

    tl;dr Out of habit.

Thanks for explaining--i had been wondering why for the loooongest time! It is an interesting reason! So do you think you will ever take your team to 141? I guess you'd have no choice if they ever find a way to stop the tanking mechanic.

/shut my mouth I didn't talk about tank club

We lost a member--anyone figure out who left?
  • The Finn wrote:

Yeah, it was Christoph321. I asked Support to remove him 4 days ago to give both him and us time to plan, but they only did it today, after the second email. A new player with 7k+ in season would make our job much easier so I scouted some players in the alliance forum asking for an alliance and sent some PMs. Hopefully someone will answer.

btw, does anyone know how the alliance approval system works now? Have they removed the waiting list and the first player who requests, joins instantly? And if this is true what happens with other players who will see 20/20 by the time they find us? Will they be unable to join? What a **** system.
