Since the elimination of tanking, I've found that it's getting harder and harder to put up a team that scares anyone. For speed, currently the fastest for me is CMag/Patch because you can cheat by denying the AI a turn through the use of 2 very cheap and effective abilities. Strike tiles, cheap abilities and crit gems - this combo is way overdue for a nerf but still the safest and fastest combo.

In the current BP tournament, I'm running a max LT/Hood and lvl 190ish BP. While that has not stopped anyone from attacking me, it has earned me some defensive wins. LT/Hood by itself is not a fast combo by any means and requires careful play in denying colours to your opponent. Running this trio has given me a new found appreciation for defensive tiles - but with countdown tiles there's always a huge element of luck involved. Anyway, it's not too bad really good coverage of colours but it's not fast enough for me.

I've been toying with the idea of Human Torch and Lazy Daken - 4 decent DPS abilities - LD's blue, HT's Green, Black and Red. LD will tank green for HT so any greens that are used for generating strike tiles can be used for HT's green. HT's Red has a net cost of 6AP for 2891 damage so the potential for serious damage is there. Sadly, I'm missing covers for both so it's all theorycrafting for now. Because of LD's self heal, I think this combo has a strong sustainability if you're making an assault up the leaderboards.

I think Lazy Storm will be awesome on offense as well but I believe much like the 1* version, she will end up tanking green and red if you're using with someone like LD. We will know more when she's officially released and the whales get going maxing her out.

edit: shadow is right about pun/obw. But seriously OBW is an attack on sight team for me.

max, first of all, to answer your question, the best duo for me would be laken/patch.

i've been using this pair since first starfall and i have never been afraid to deal with lt/bp combo or whatever, i've been earning iso faster than ever, and to the point that i still have healthpacks left after 90 minutes of nonstop matches.

eventhough i'm not afraid of anything, i can still lose. Most of the time, it involves OBW. (and yes, i hate LT/obw)

if there's a speed rating to each character (from 1 to 5), i'd say OBW is 5 and LT/BP is 1.

after c.mag is nerfed, mpq would be very close to be a balanced game.

if u guys read my chat with kiddicarus, sentry's world rupture can be mitigated with strong def tiles. mohawk's hailstorm will render WR useless too.

there's no such thing as strong offense and defense at the same time. you gotta choose one of them.

BP/mohawk will be my favourite duo too.

Some thoughts on the TAT pve event.

I could be wrong on this With the high scoring nodes opening up on TAT we have what appears to be 2 separate rubberbanding events. 1 for the main nodes and 1 for the sub bracket. So therefore if you're going to sit down for an extended period of time to play MPQ pve, it would make sense to clear the main nodes first before clearing the sub nodes. I picked this up from fangel the other day and it's basically means that clearing subs first would reduce rubber banding for main nodes as you're also catching up with the leader in the main as you clear the sub. It follows therefore that clearing mains first does not reduce sub rubber banding because this is based on the sub's leader.

I'm nowhere near clearing optimally - basically clearing before bed and if I have free time in the day - so roughly 2 sit down sessions but I seem to caught up with the leaders who took an early lead in the subs.

This one was far too early for me. I did however watch the Brazil vs Croatia match in Berlin in 2006 and I did catch the episode of the simpsons where homer becomes a referee for the WC in brazil! I will be resolutely sticking to highlight reels for the WC2014.
