    Hi!

Does frozen tile count in hood's passive blue power? IE if I'd use Invisible Woman's blue power to froze couple of purple tiles (that activates passive hood abillity) would it work or are frozen tiles "dismissed" of the game.
I believe they would still count, since the descrip only reads "on the board" and freezing a tile only prevents it from being able to be switched or counting down if it's a CD tile or adding damage if it's a strike tile, etc.

In theory it seems to make sense too since just because something is in an "invisibility bubble" doesn't mean it's no longer in its current location, just that you can no longer see it. But seeing as IW is practically unplayable until she gets a buff I haven't play tested this so I'm not 100% sure.
  • I'll try to remember to test that next time I encounter Hood, with my own IW/Hood and a powerful DPS so that I don't lose horribly -.-
  • Is anyone out there purposefully under-leveling their Hood to keep it from tanking colors? I feel like he's so squishy, his hit points don't really make a difference: either he's going to survive a hit or not. by not maxing him, he's rarely out in front, meaning I only have to worry about AoE powers...

If you have under-leveled him, is there a magic ceiling for levels that keeps him from tanking colors? I guess, ideally, his Yellow would do less damage than some 166 character who has Yellow as their second most powerful tile?

I keep mine at level 110 for now, so that when he's buffed in PvP, BP can still tank for him. Without buffs, according to wiki, for yellow safe level is 118 with maxed Patch or Sentry (or any other 3* with yellow as 3rd color) and level 141 with maxed LThor or Capt. Marvel (yellow as 2nd color).

You can raise Hood to level 118 and still have anyone with yellow as a tertiary color (e.g. Patch) tank yellow. You can raise him to around 141--you might be able to go a couple levels higher than this, but I know this one is safe--and still have anyone with yellow as a secondary color (e.g. Thor) tank yellow. (FYI, this trick also works with Falcon.)

It is beneficial to bring Hood up to 166 because it'll get you an additional 1500 health which is very important, especially in PVP. But it's less important to fully level him than primary damage-dealers. If you haven't already, bring him to 118 and then quit to focus on other characters.

well.... poop. My Hood is 142.... I suppose I should have asked this question before anniversary iso burned a hole in my digital pocket. Although 166 Thor and 142 Hood are both 70 Yellow.... maybe just keep Hood in 3rd position....

There's a hidden decimal point in their match strengths which is why I don't know if Hood at 142 will tank yellow for Thor. Try it! Put Hood in the center position and Thor in the second position--who tanks yellow? Flip flop them and try again--who tanks yellow now? Thor may still tank yellow in both cases or he may not tank at all.

Thor in 2nd position tanks Yellow over Hood in 3rd. Whew.

I have my Hood at 165 so that he never matches tiles when I use my maxed Black Panther.

Speaking for myself, I love when I run across underleveled Hoods in PvP. I can kill them in a turn or two less and that can make a huge difference in how the match goes.

He never matches tiles if Black Panther is in front of him on the line up (middle > left > right) unless he's got a level boost and if he did it wouldn't matter in your case either.

Eh, I'll take the extra hits if it means that I don't have to spend extra health packs on him. He eats them fast enough from just match damage alone as it is
  • After this PVP, in which I saw a lot of Hood, Magneto, Xforce teams and other combinations that did not include Hood, I'm convinced that Sentry isn't really the problem.

    It's hood.

    He is so oppressive.

Once you get the AP to cast an ability, he takes 1 away. Now you need another match in order to use that ability.

He makes AP starved boards even more insurmountable than they already are.

It's a double whammy. It makes the enemy need an extra match, basically, and shortens the length of time you need for yours (or vice-versa if you're facing a Hood). Without checking, I think most of the new characters deplete but don't steal AP (She Hulk / Doc Oc comes to mind).

D3 isn't stupid. There's a reason why every AP steal ability sucked after OBW. But since they never went around fixing the existing ones this just means nobody would ever use the new AP steal/drain abilities. Nick Fury steals AP, and he's relatively new, but stealing 9 (or 3) of their strongest color is a lot weaker than it sounds, since the other side almost always can spend the AP on their strongest color.

I am most probably going to spec my dupe Hood same as my primary Hood, 5/5/3. There are not enough CD characters to warrant 5 black (Sentry is just one character), and I have been hopping just fine with 3 black. Besides, Goddess likes Hood with 5 yellow, and X-Force already does as well. That yellow ability is one of the best skills in the entire game but it suffers from the seemingly high price tag, same as GSBW and her Sniper Rifle. The only other yellow ability that I can use *almost* always over Pistols is Thunder Strike and I don't run lazy Thor much at all recently.

5 black is Sentry's green WorldRupture sidekick (and due to the state of metagame, more than enaugh to justify it), but I can't think of any other reason to go as far in black.

You don't need any more reasons. Faster and more reliable sentrybomb kills is more than sufficient.

Also, 3 yellow still gives you twin targetted attacks for wiping out enemy countdowns or opposition strike tiles. Yeah, it costs you a turn but it's probably worth it if you're that desperate to get rid of those tiles.

I'm keeping my Hood at 5/5/3. His yellow at 5 saved a match for me yesterday when Sentry got off a Supernova. Killed X-Force, nearly killed cMags, and left Hood limping, but I was able to get off Twin Pistols to scrape up enough blue and black AP to finish off the enemy team before they were able to wipe me out. Not ending the turn is a huge factor for me.

The idea of starting a second Hood is intriguing, though... just not sure I want to invest the ISO into a second Hood.

Agreed, you don't need any more reasons... you need any more Sentry covers! icon_e_biggrin.gif
Besides, didn't you hold the leveling of your Magneto because of incoming nerf? Shouldn't you recommend same procedure to people not on the top, as a severe Sentry nerf would give very few reasons for a 5 black?
