there have been plenty of pvp etiquette discussions. and some times there aren't many points out there. this i understand.
it sucks to get triple tapped by a whale. a 435 OML just wins. crush me once i get it. twice, well that kinda sucked. thrice, tinykitty you.
feel free to say i should have shielded. call me a whiner. totally fair. i'm sure someone is gonna say spend more money. whatever.
i know the whales fund the game and honestly i appreciate it. but for us plebs, it's not too much to ask to pay attention to who you are hitting. i take my lumps like everyone else. dropping 200 points because one **** has a ridiculously good toon sucks.

What's the difference if it's the same person tapping you 3x for 60 - 70 pts at a clip or by three different people totalling a loss of 200 pts? It's obvious you've climbed into the area/rank where you are getting noticed by folks in the battle chats calling you out or randoms seeing a nice points target to climb up to. Time to shield...0

I know a few here like to be good sports and abide by the unwritten rules, however I am the sort of person that will just see easy points and will tap that all day long. 1 person hits you 3 times or 3 people hit you once the result is the same. It called versus for a reason, I'll dish it out but I have to my lumps too.0

Except while you're being hit by that one person three times, you might be getting hit by x number of others since you are available to everyone - so it's not really the same.0 -
It sucks but unless you are in a shield check room on LINE and can beg for mercy you just have to suck it up.
Personally the only time I pay attention to the name I'm hitting is if they're in my alliance otherwise I don't bother keeping tabs.
If I tap you more than once it was nothing personal and please feel free to do the same back (even if it is because you're taking it personally) I don't mind because I accept that is likely to happen unless I'm in a shield check room and can coordinate with people.
Also try to remember they might not have done it on purpose, like me perhaps they don't pay attention to the name or you were the only reasonable points available.
It does suck when it happens but try not to let it stress you out too much.0 -
I tend to avoid double or triple tapping, regardless of alliance, unless I'm above 1K, close to a shield and there aren't any other good points in the shard, or unless it's a known sniper or other kind of unpleasant doodyhead.
For me it's a bit of a 'do unto others' thing, but I don't expect others to play by the same rules, though.0 -
PVP is Thunderdome.
I am terrible at remembering one name to the next; I look at team composition and levels. I've accidentally hit an alliance-mate more than once.
The only etiquette I TRY to follow is cupcaking. If a cupcake comes into my sites, I try to hold off the 10+ minutes, usually meaning I wait to hit it until I unshield again. I also try to keep on eye on where that cupcake might be on the leaderboard. I do this because I feel anyone leaving a cucpake is doing it at great personal risk an is also helping the community by laying a lot of points out there so more people can reach that 1300 progression.
I don't use LINE. It's not that I don't want to, it's just I have no idea what to do and I'm too lazy to find out. I actually have it installed on my phone and that was as far as I got.0 -
I don't remember people's names. I remember like five people from my Alliance and avoid hitting them when I remember to check the name. But I try to avoid hitting people multiple times if I can get the points some other way - I mostly recognize people by their toons. This week, though, it seems that 90% of the teams are Fistbuster or Luke Cage + Fist so I might be hitting some people multiple times as it's difficult to tell them apart.0

honestly, i find this conversation frustrating on behalf of all the people who play the game and don't have a clue about the "etiquette" that we've created internally. the thought that I might be on some random "snipers" list because *MPQ gave me* a juicy target which I then hit (as per the rules/point of the game) is really irritating. I get that the rules and systems have all sort of worked together to create this system, but it's really dumb.0

(sorry for the double post)
I just have this picture in my head of someone opening up his MPQ game, seeing that he's been attacked, and thinking to himself "how DARE someone attack the mighty (your name here)."
Then he gets on his Line chat, scream-types "My Brethren! My honor and my team is under attack! To arms! To arms!"
And suddenly i'm down 200 points.

even if I find a baker, I give at least a 1 match cushion. that is not optional for me. I try to do that with everyone, but sometimes doesn't work out. bakers are my friends and I try and give them time to shield because I'd love to find them again and for them to have as many pts as possible then.0 -
How do you find out about these pvp rooms on line anyway, are they mostly just specific alliances or are there more general ones too?0

Many alliances have their own, but you can also get invites. If you get on Line and start chatting, you'll make connections. The alliance board in the forums was where I found the recruitment room post - messaged the poster, and that's where I got started.0 -

"Aww schucks! Chamber44 hit me on my hop, if anyone climbing sees him feel free to give him a love tap for me."
And then a couple guys who are just starting the event might hit you once as they climb and that's the end of it. If you find it constantly happening to you every event start checking the alliances of the guys you are hitting/getting hit by and then just try to avoid them if you need to.0 -
I didn't read all the responses so forgive me if this was said. I know someone, used to be in my alliance, with a champed OML and SS. He still posts on Line is always talks about his queue hell. He regularly sees the same 4 or 5 opponents and that's it, and a lot of times they are worth single digit points to him. After months being like this, I can certainly understand taking all the points they can, even if it's hitting the same person multiple times.
Sucks to be the receiver, but the game is broken for a lot of the people with 5* rosters. They are pitted only against each other much of the time, so they take advantage of the times they're not.
As for me, I am squarely in 3* land, just peeking into 4* land. I find I enjoy it much better if I don't pay attention to who hits me. That way I never have to be concerned about being hit multiple times by the same person.0 -

Same here, I see a red node, see the points and if it's worth it and I think I can take it I will. Do I see the name? Rarely give it a look.0 -

Not my problem since I'm just working on leveling up an OML and have JG and SS sitting w/ <6 covers and at 255, but this is another way the game is broken. Let's penalize the players that have played the hardest (and spent the most) by subjecting them to a jacked up MMR. Now I'm not advocating that 5* get matched up against 2* and 3* teams, but I'm very cognizant of not leveling up my OML too high or above my champed 4*, so I don't get stuck in the same spot. PVE scaling is also the same - let's penalize teams with great rosters w/ Level 400 Juggs instead of treating progress in the game as an advantage (I do realize they are trying to work on this w/ the tests).
All that being said, I frequently am seeing 5* rosters with 3k, 4k, and now even 5k in PVP events, so your friend's experience seems unusual.0 -
The only people I won't hit are alliance mates. Other than that everyone is fair game. It's "player versus player." All other players are the opponent.
If you're worth good points and I can beat your team, I'll hit you. If you continue to be worth good points after I do so, I will continue hitting you. It's not personal, it's just how the game works.0 -

Isn't that the point? If you've got two 5* champions you're at the top of the pile. You don't really have anywhere to climb - you've won. You're now the target for everyone who doesn't have that roster.
Boo hoo, I can't beat the piss out of 99.9% of the playerbase for max points to further catapult me into the stratosphere. This is a rich-get-richer scenario, but it's still a game. There are a lot of other people beyond the 0.1%, and the devs need to provide an atmosphere where they're not getting whaled on by tyrants every other minute.0 -
I tend to get a bit sloppy when I'm under 1000 points, but I at least make sure I'm not hitting alliance mates. After 1000, I make sure I'm not hitting anyone in my BC unless I know they're shielded.
But the choice of targets sometimes is pretty slim. I don't like to double tap anyone, but when you're making that climb in the 800-1200 range, you tend to see the same 6 or 7 targets over and over again. So you might have to double up on a few people to get into a place where you'll see new targets. I've shielded before because the same targets kept coming up and I didn't want to triple anybody.0
