Sorry if this has been asked before, but has anyone determined whether sub event rubber-banding is based off the total overall score leader, or the sub event score leader?

Sub bracket missions are based on the overall sub bracket leader. The main bracket missions are based on the overall main bracket leader. For example, I had main missions worth 1000 (10X modifier) while I was getting no rubberband modifier on my sub brackets. Note that as you gain significant points in a sub bracket, your main bracket points will go up too, so it may feel like the main bracket is rubberbanded by your sub bracket, but it's not.

Oddly enough though, my Romania sub missions aren't at even amounts, indicating some form of rubberbanding even though I haven't started that sub. So it seems like your initial point values may be based partly on your main bracket placement, to an extent (i.e. I haven't joined Romania and as I slip further away from 1st in Main, my Romania starting sub values have increased).

You are misunderstanding him I think. Overall sub leader means of EVERYONE..not just your sub bracket. So it will constantly go up. The more important point here is that gaining a lead by the end of each sub event is harder to make up in the next sub event since the rubberbanding starts anew to some extent. To "make up" that lead you need to burn through the main bracket repeatables, otherwise you are going to run into an issue of only matching your opponent (assuming you play the same # of resets)
  • I wasn't able to play the first two subs much at all so I'm curious to see how playing 'lazy' will pan out.

I entered the subs about four hours before they ended (so no refreshes), the two missions against the Hulk I played three times each, the one mission against three level 230 snipers and the three missions in the main event I only played once. I played every other mission twice.

Unfortunately I couldn't play at all in the two hours before the subs ended so these numbers are a little off (and I wasn't able to check on my placement as the subs were ending) but about 20 minutes after that first round was over I was at #5033 in the main bracket. Got top 100 in both subs.

If I can keep myself from playing more often I'll see this through. But I should be able to do them as they are about to close, at least for the next set.
  • My first set of subs was all levels 180 - 230 (which, with my roster, was not particularly fun). This second set of subs is all 40-60. Could it be because I came so low in the first set of subs or something?
  • IMO this is the worst event so far. I really don't have any idea who are the target players here, my lineup (85 CStorm, 69 OBW, 64 Patch) is having a lot of problems. They regularly get oneshotted, the game is about luck now, "do I get enough of my colors before I get oneshotted?" I won't even try some Romanian fights. I'm not enjoying this at all.

If this would be the last day of this event, that would be okay, I would understand the crazy lineups, which can start(!) the fight by placing a 4800 hp damage counter on the board (ofc none of the above character have even close to 4k hp). But since this is the 1st day, I would have expected some easier fights. I don't think my MMR is so high, in the last PvP event I finished in the top 150 with 4 lost matches at the end of the event.

In the earlier PvE event I didn't mind to replay the matches for the loots, but here I just don't care about it, since after every fight I have to heal my characters or use medkits (and the enemies didn't even start scaling yet). I'm not inspired to play it at all, since I have 0 chance to get the new cover and I can see this clearly 1 hour into the event. So I definitely won't put in any effort, I rather play other games.
  • The bracketing, scaling and rubberbanding are all types of tin kitty for this event. I can't figure it out, nor can I seem to place towards the top unless I grind at epic new levels. Gonna get my 1 token per sub and sit back. On a positive note, super buffed Big Black (aka Black Panther) is a nasty dude. Loving him right now.

Those snipers are really rough. Do you have a Thor? He is buffed and could help with shielding for a bit. Modern storm might be better in that fight instead of c. Storm since she requires less matches before using her abilities. Hope this helps!
  • Retreat before the Snipers use Deadly Shot if you can't stop it, unless you have reason to believe you're going to win the fight with 2 guys.

Yea, and then use obw or spidey to heal back to full health vs. A demolition team or equally weak minion grouping and then retry. Seriously, demo teams are the easiest pos in the game. Kill the demolitions expert first and the other two can't do anything with thier 20 turn purple tiles that do piddly damage even if they do somehow hit.
  • Heh, after being vaguely annoyed that for once I didn't have any covers for a character required for a bunch of high points missions, one of my Hulk tokens from yesterday's subs has given me a Black Panther cover. Well, that solves that.

Still not putting a lot of effort in this time, but at least I'll be able to clear every mission once now.

No need to heal up if it's only Snipers. They will always kill a guy with Deadly Shot so it makes no difference whether you're at 1 HP or full HP. Do heal up on Demos after you beat the encounter.

Level 230 Snipers deal over 10K dmg. Retreat if you cannot beat the countdown. I know I did so for a few times
  • Keep in mind that only one sniper will put out a tile at a time and they put them out in order. It gets complicated in a match with a different goon or a villain, but if you fight 3 snipers, they will drop their tiles in order. Means you don't have to stun all 3 if a tile is counting down and you're low on blue.

Good advice! I seldom heal up when I retreat from goons until next retreat will kill someone. you need all those fights to go perfectly or you lose anyway.
  • So after the first set of rounds having massively borked levels for me (over 210 for my roster of one level 85 and rest under 50) this round appears to be very evenly balanced across the board- actually, I'd say the minions are evenly balanced, the hero encounters are actually lower level than I expected. Topping out at level 49 encounters? So weird compared to some of the level 150+ hero encounters that showed up in the last set.

Agreed.... same here. Weird how the last round was completely nuts, this one is actually manageable. Well, at least in the first sub, haven't been in the second one yet.

And not to overlook the obvious: leave that sniper tile out there for a bit if you have a safe match for it. Might as well burn some turns before the snipers lay the next countdown tile that might be in a spot you can't quickly match.
  • 20 ISO SUCKS
  • they usually end events at midnight EST but i just realized that daylight saving is this weekend so the event will end at 1am? unless they change the clock on the event
  • Was disappointed to only finish in the top 600 in both subs that ended today, but at least I got a couple tokens, so I figured 500 ISO between them. I open my first token, and it's a BLACK BLACK PANTHER! I open my second - YELLOW BLACK PANTHER!

My disappointment didn't last long. Also, these subs have been crazy-easy - I don't think I've had them higher than about 75 level.

Don't have the time or inclination to go hard this time around, so I'm just playing when I get a moment and aiming for a single Thor cover so that I can use him in the no-doubt upcoming event. Still facing relatively normal levels, although the harder sub is giving me 150 DAs now, which are almost annoying.

Still loving the heck out of a buffed Panther when he's coupled with Patch. Devastation++ icon_cool.gif
