Things that Feel Wrong In-Game (Fun Discussion)

There's always so much hemming and hawing about PVE, about PVP retaliations, about all sorts of stuff that actually does need in-game work.

But how about a friendly and lively discussion about the things in game that are fair, working as intended, yet make you feel like the game is cheating?

Let me reiterate: These are things that are working as intended but just feel wrong sometimes and are totally subject to confirmation bias. icon_e_smile.gif

I'll start with:

1) Enemy team is about to have their bones crushed into the ground on my next turn, but manage to launch every single one of their powers before my next turn, which does not delay the inevitable, just makes me irritated at the health loss.

2) Juggernauts Unstoppable Crash: I see the most epic and beautiful of cascades when the AI uses it. When I use it, it fizzles.

3) My cascades are a thing of glory to behold! But only seem to happen when I am fighting trivial nodes.

4) Getting attacked in PVP immediately after opening the APP in the morning. I mean, they had all night to do it, right?

5) The color you so desperately need to ensure your victory is nowhere to be seen!

100% confirmation bias, because i play so much pvp and pve, but out of every 100 nodes, i remember the 1 i wanted to throw my phone...

#1. god yes.. was thinking about that yesterday, was about to have a flawless win against a team in SSim.. and right before Rulk could end it.... he lost 25% health to a cascade.. for no reason!

#5. only happens when i use a crit or damage boost.. nothing to be found anywhere.

    and to add my own:
why does every time i try to take a screenshot of an amazing happening in game have to fail? but when i am screenshotting something like an epic fail, works perfect, every time.

100 HP deal of the day Moonstones... like today icon_e_sad.gif

Crazy ai cascades that feed them the colors I want, but they don't need.

Been running IM40/Thoress on hard nodes, yellow is like GOLD... but they are scattered across the board. I move, yellow drop into place, AI matches it. I try to move yellows closer together, ai moves the board, 3 yellows drop and match themselves. I finally get 6 yellow AP... I'm fighting Goons and all yellow tiles are already CD tiles for the AI... GRRRR.

Higher level fight... higher cascade rate.

All the time, usually against Hood. Really, Hood? Really? Who are we kidding here? You're not going to win this and your costume is just a blanket thrown over your regular clothes. Try to lose with some dignity for once.

other than the iso shortage that feels wrong and the general overwhelming rate of releases for a rarity level that the game's rewards are not adjusted for...

the server lag hit after shield still feels wrong to me. if the server sends the hit to the client and the client is already shielded, the client should turn around and say "no, he shielded, those points can be put back on". I understand the lag issue and how it works. doesn't make it feel right. nothing more demoralizing to hop and then 5 minutes later have 2 hits come in for -125.

Selling covers giving you 250/500/1000 ISO - and you need hundreds of thousands to level those characters.

Boosts drop all over - but not ISO.

No 4* DDQ daily exists - nor has it doubled ISO yet.

Double ISO doesn't exist everywhere in the game (not that it would be enough).

    ISO something something ISO.

Skip jail. Can there really be only 6 suitable matches in an entire slice?

The fact that in PVE when moonstone is high level she has so much more health than Ares. Ares is the God of war and a huge tank yet Moonstone has more health and seems even more dangerous in 4* DPDQ.

Get 8 red with classic Mags, AI makes a teamup match. Every. Stinking. Time.

This doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's very painful and silly. I don't mind if it happens to a healing character, but let's say I have an OML and a 2* Storm, and I figure "hey, he's almost dead, I'll just use my storm to match-4 so I can use her blue next", and then numerous enemy team-ups and powers later, her glass cannon has been shattered, I live with regret for her wonderful life being snuffed out too soon.

This sort of thing happened in a LR today. Enemy OML was sitting at 115 health after a Loki match 4. On its last turn the AI smacked Loki with It's Clobbering Time, killing him *and* OML when Reluctant Hero went off.

So much this, but I would also add: Loki messes up the board thoroughly when the AI fires his purple. ZOMGZ TEH CASCADES!!1!!! When I use it? Match 3... in the one color I don't use.

same with cmags polarizing force... and sometimes with fist, but that is a little more consistent. but we remember when it doesn't work.

Loki's Illusions. AI uses it cue cascades and most if my special tiles get wiped out. I use it I get a 2 second animation then make my move.

    SWitch's blue passive.
1.Always spawn next to or close to another blue tile.
2.If crit tile exist, it always overwrites that.
3.If there is a nice match-5 available, it mostly overwrites one of the tiles to ruin the match 5.

And yet, the power description says nothing about the above behaviors.

I thought it was just me that noticed that! I refer to your #3 as the Switch C**k Bl**k. (while not technically swearing, I thought a little censoring would be okay.)

I'd also add that they must be heavy. Since if they don't do 1-3, they end up in the corner.

The enemy never gets to play against a "trivial node". They're always playing against your team that you're actually trying to win with, so anytime they get what I call a "miracle cascade", it's going to either turn the match against you or add insult to injury because you were about to die anyway. You, on the other hand, play certain proportion of nodes you know will be low-effort, so it feels like a wasted resource when you get lucky there.

In addition to the cascades, Unstoppable Crash seems to specifically target all my special tiles. I like using IM40/Steve to perma-stun Juggs, but in the last heroic each time it fired unstoppable crash literally would wipe out every single one of my countdown and special tiles. Every. Single. Time that event. Literally. When Juggs wasn't the opponent, it would literally be the team up. That event was maddening...

Fun Fact: Since Championing, if you bring every character (across all tiers) to the same level, Moonstone has the third-highest health (even outclassing the Hulks!), only trailing Devil Dinosaur and Juggernaut.

I notice this with any specific color converter/destroyer. Mjonir's Might Ready? A.I. matches yellow. Blade ready to start pumpingput strikes? Red match right away.
    Ah, confirmation bias.

This can get so bad that once, using a team of Loki and Storm I used her yellow and green, followed by two Loki's purples and got not a single bonus match. Next turn 1* Venom uses Symbiote Snare, changing ONE tile to green and the ensuing cascades lasted like one minute.
    3) My cascades are a thing of glory to behold! But only seem to happen when I am fighting trivial nodes.

Addendum: you also get them at the very end of a fight, after all opponents are down, especially if you are constrained by time such as shieldhopping or last minute grinding in PVE.

And yet, the power description says nothing about the above behaviors.

    4. If there's a purple match to do that turn, it will replace one of the purple tiles. This is specially true if you only need 3 or less purple to go off and that was the only purple match that the board will form in a while (and obviously the CD will be matched away at some point).
    5. If you work really hard to remove all blue tiles around the CD, the opponent will manage to somehow get the row or column where it is destroyed with a 4-match.
    6. Opponents usually, "coincidentally" have a power (bonus points if its a teamup) that somehow eliminates the tile (including clinical-precision, otherwise "random" Gravity Warp) and for which the opponent will miraculously obtain enough AP just in time.
    7. Whichever above way the tile will be removed, it will happen preferably when it has gone down to 1 for maximum time wasting.
    8. If for some reason, none of the circumstances above can be ensured, place the tile in a corner or a side row with no nearby purple tiles. If that's the case, this tile won't be matched or removed until it has gone off so you have to wait 4 turns for your next cd to spawn.
    9. Once every three ice ages, when all of Jupiter and Saturn Moons impossibly align with our own, the tile will go off as expected creating a huge cascade of purple. This is allowed as to feed your hopes so you'll keep trying and hoping over and over, and often will give you exactly all the purple you need, minus 1.
