CareBearStare Alliance Thread

Is it time we put into place the "carebearcave" alliance?
A place where we can join the likes of Fedlex and kick back and relax in season 3?
No pressure, no "cares", just bears?0 -
Oh man, last night I dreamt that they had a free Lazy Storm node but it was in an obscure sub sub sub node. I was trying to communicate to the alliance to go after the node but you know, you can't seem to scream when you're dreaming.
DecoyDuck has problems.
I can't pretend to know any of you all's situation. We're just a bunch of strangers that wanted to play and win and have a good time and keep a good attitude (otherwise, there's a whole bunch of meathead alliances waiting for you). So we have THAT in common. And that little bit of commonality is enough to keep me going. More than enough. This game can get crazy. Even crazier if you spend too much time in the forums. It's like a book or a movie where the writer didn't seem to have everything planned out from the beginning and then has to make up even more ridiculous solutions to wrap things up.
This is NOT a rant about how we're losing and we need to work harder and such - the alliance is in good shape.
The one thing about CBS is that if you put INTO the community, then there's always a place for you. Heck, that's the kind of alliance I want to be part of!
Agreed Tonzil, let's start a Hibernation alliance after Season 2 (Seasons suck!). I don't have all the logistics worked out... but the only requirement I can think of is to achieve the top2000th place in alliance ranking for that sweet, sweet 70ISO award and to check in at least once a week maybe? Just so we can make space for any other Bear that needs to hibernate. Incidentally, I'm not implying this is the solution user311 is thinking about... but this is something I've been talking about since the end of Season 1.0 -
I feel that I've been forced to slow down out of necessity as much as out of burnout. Last day of SHIELD Simulator for season 1 I put up a 24Hour shield. And recently I had to buy roster space for IW.
This has put me at <300HP which means I don't have the freedom to shield hop in PvP.
Now LazyStorm is coming and I'll be forced to delete another 2* to keep her because I'm not earning enough HP since I don't grind PvE as much for that extra HP.
If you don't keep your HP influx up then it turns into a downward spiral.
Although I guess I'll just start selling 2* to compensate a bit.
But ultimately, once you reach that stage where you are erasing your own progress by selling leveled characters it makes you lose motivation further.
The PvE re-runs have gotten really boring as well.
I love the the chat. But I sometimes wonder if one reason that I like it so much (besides you bears being lovely people) is because it's an outlet for the frustration that's building (and maybe boredom) towards the game.
I wonder if it's the story mode healing that's making it boring. I hope they come up with a solution for health recharging. Maybe if each win gave you a health pack.0 -

Oh no, CareBearStare and ScarFighters are awesome. It's all the REST of the alliances that are meathead alliances.0 -
It all comes down to whether or not you're having fun, and weighing that fun with stress. Stress can be good in some ways. When I played Starcraft, I was pretty intense into it and I would be sweating like crazy during games and it was super crazy stressful and I simply couldn't mentally play after around 3 close competitive games, but I played it for about a dozen years so despite it being so super stressful I never felt really burned. In this case it was fun pushing myself to the limit and seeing how good I can get. This is a good kind of stress and one that I can handle
In the case of MPQ, I still found it a solid game. I appreciate it for what it is and enjoyed my time playing it, but for various reasons I slowly stopped enjoying it. I basically made a list in my head of what I liked and what I didn't like and I came to the conclusion that while I think it's a good game, it's time to move on.
Quitting is neither good nor bad, it just kinda... is. You just gotta decide whether you're still enjoying the game. I was still having a little bit of fun but decided that I would be enjoying myself MORE if I spent those MPQ hours on some other games
As for the Carebearcave, I believe I have around 2k HP sitting around, so if you need I'll buy a few slots0 -
Ok, since we are talking about taking it easy, I might as well chime in. Maybe this post is going to be a bit long-winded but anyway. Today I just realized pretty much the only reason I'm still playing this game is habit and the occasional nibble at the shiny carrot in front of me. The game got to be a bore and completely unrewarding right now for me.
I've been completely put off by PvP for a while now and Starfall was one of my lowest scores lately, and I thought I'd give Magnetic Mayhem a better try because I could use some Patch covers. Turns out having a couple of characters over lvl 100 means you now sit at the grown-ups' table, so I went through all my health packs twice today trying to make a push only to barely get past 600 points, only to lose the very next match. I was actually playing another game and having fun when I remembered I had to make my push in pvp because the end time for me is bad, so I either push today and burn a 24h shield or wake up earlier tomorrow to play before going to work. Just typing that sounds ridiculous, that I plan my day around a match-3 game.
And then there's PvE. When I was starting to have fun with it, main nodes unlocked so everything I did in the subs was completely pointless, and now I keep yoyoing back and forth between top 40 and 300, and I know whatever I do now doesn't matter much if I'm not around to grind near the end of the event due to all the rubberbanding. Grinding that just became more difficult because R55 went live on Steam and the level of my nodes just went from "casual match-3 funtimes" to "Ares axing you to death or some bald guys beating you up".
Long story short, game became a chore and I'm not having much fun, progressing is making things worse.
I'll still try to get a decent score for the end of this season (gotta have that second Fury cover, only 11 to go!) but I think I'll lay low for the next. Gonna try and miss the She-Hulk event just to be sure I won't be able to compete much in the next month or so. I'll also have some vacation time next month where I won't be able to play much anyway, so it suits me well.
There's also this whole World Cup thingy going on around here, might check what's up with that.0 -

At first I'm like "This would be great, I wish I had more HP so I could contribute", but then I stop and think "if we make a CareBearRestStop alliance are people even going to be in-game enough to catch each other in the chat?". Because if no one is online enough for their to always be at least one person in chat then there isn't much point except for the "passive" alliance reward.
I'll be taking a break for season 3. I've got too many things going on for the next month. I'll let our commanders decide if you'd like me to leave or if the whole alliance will take a "sabbatical"?
As for the current PvP - how many people need Patch? I know we have at least two players that need covers for him.0 -
Did someone mention She-Hulk? I must have missed that announcement. Oh well - I still want to tryout a no new characters approach. I used to really like PVE but I can't grind for days on end for a single cover reward that I can't play with. Would feel bad if someone spent their HP just for people who are not going to play at all.
I doubt that Seasons will last past the 3rd one.0 -

I'm hitting the same growing pains as you are. I've grinded and played for about 6 months now to finally get to the point where I have a few characters over 100 (highest 2 are level 128 and 123) with a few more that I can take over 100 as I get more ISO. But rather than feeling like I finally have a roster with some strength to it to enjoy, I'm now getting nothing but teams with at least 1 level 141 or higher and the rest are either maxed out 2* or over 100 3*. Many of the teams I'm seeing have 2 level 141 with the featured hero boosted even higher. And I'm not seeing these once I get to 500-600 points, I started getting nothing but these teams before I even reach 100 points in this PvP. To beat them, I have to either boost or fight to near death and then use 2 health packs if I win and 3 if I don't. I'm out of health packs after 2-3 battles and that will net me all of 60-80 points at best and then I turn around and lose half of that in retaliations since for these teams I'm a nothing but a nicely browned turkey waiting to be carved up. It's now taking more effort for me to get to 400 points than it used to take me to get to 900. I just shielded on Magnetic Mayhem at 500 points because if I didn't I'd get knocked down to 400 or less in 30-60 minutes. Last PvP event I tried to go from 650 - 700 then shield only to lose my first battle and then get attacked 13 times over the next 20 - 30 minutes and lose about 250 points in the process. I've completed avoided using OBW the past 3 PvP events to try to keep my MMR down but that hasn't made a bit of difference. My ability to contribute to the alliance in PvP is extremely limited right now and that alone ticks me off.
So let's review my choices here on what I can do to stand a chance in PvP shall we?
1. Spend all my saved up and purchased HP on Med Packs and pray to the Thunder God that everyone I attack feels sorry for me and doesn't retaliate. (Hint: This isn't going to happen)
2. Spend all my saved up and purchased HP on shielding after every 2-3 battles then break shields after the retaliations are done. (Hint: This also isn't going to happen)
3. Combining both options 1 and 2. (Hint: This damn sure isn't going to happen!)
4. Tank my entire roster at the beginning of the next PvP and hope that drops my MMR.
5. Uninstall the game, walk away, and burn my son's plush Incredible Hulk toy and costume in a fiery effigy as I bang my head to Twisted Sister's "We're not going to take it"
Since I'm not a quitter and I don't want to face the wrath of my wife after I burn my son's toys, I'm stuck with the tanking my entire roster at the beginning of the next PvP option. It's ridiculous that the developers did such a horrible job of balancing difficulty for mid level players that we have to pull stunts like this just to hope that we might be able to get matched up with appropriately leveled competitors. I feel like I'm cheating the game, and I HATE CHEATERS OR CHEATING. I'm not going to quit fighting. I'm not going to play less. What I have done and will continue to do is stop supporting the developers financially until they fix this so that there is an appropriate difficulty level for all players from level 1 to level 141. Until that happens they won't see another dime from me.0 -
For me, having mentioned before, I dont have anyone over 99. The reason is the MMR hell you all mention as well as scaling. I think 99 is the edge. When I join a PVP its the seed teams and then a wall of 85** with a frequent 3* occurance that I just skip. When you all told me about skipping until I found someone over 30 I found that to be very effective for reaching 600 (though not at all profitable). One of the things I suggested in another thread a long time ago to a would be quitter was to sell off his roster. I think now that 2**s are given so frequently I am going to sell all of mine after the PVE ends. Hate to suggest you sell of your 100+ chars. but I don't know how else to avoid the 141 walls. Maybe adding more slots and one cover duplicate chars?
For PVP, I only used my health packs for CMags and then used my tag teams of Pun/Psy , Patch/Thor , Hulk/Rags in succession. I think playing at 630am EST is a safe time to climb without attacks. I moved up about 400 pts this am without a retal. I shielded for the rest of the day once I hit 760. I probably could have reached 800 but I needed to get in a few rounds of PVE.0 -

Milkrain's right. Logistical issues. I don't mind if the whole alliance takes a sabbatical. But the WHOLE alliance has to agree. Realistically, once we go soft, it'll be difficult to ramp up even if we did want the alliance reward for a particular event. Maybe some of the heavies will move on and that's a sad, but reasonable consequence. We threatened to chill at the end of Season 1, and I think we did to a degree. We're still in good contention to get that Fury cover, with its limited usefulness and all.
But enough of that... let's discuss more about it AFTER Season 2 ends - and Season 3 starting immediately (gee, no one ever saw that coming).
As for the Patch? Personally, I'm not worried about keeping top100 in the alliance score, but I want to encourage everyone to keep their Season 2 scores up. We're in good position to keep our Fury reward, so let's not slump now.
It seems like we've been doubling down on the PVE though. We've been in alliance top50 for several days now!0 -

YARR! This is correct. But that's only because so many alliances and elder members have simply up and left...
S.H.I.E.L.D completely fell apart as did many other alliances...
This is NOT the fate I have in mind for CBS...
EDIT:
I did a push this morning and got up to about 699 points. Than for every 30 I made, I would lose 60. Gain 60, lose 142... Managed to get mid 600s in Magnetic Mayhem. I hope the extra push/effort was worth keeping us in the top 100 for anyone needing a Patch cover.
Which reminds me, I need to make a PVE push. Those 3K point nodes are not going to clear themselves and I am not going to climb out of 200th if I don't.
It's ridiculous that @ nearly 100K in points, I am in 200th... Sad CareBear...0 -

You've chosen to stay a mid-level player and that means that you will remain a juicy turkey for all those maxed teams that have somehow managed to tank their MMR.
Everyone in this game is somehow trying to "game" the system. You're gaming it by staying mid-level and chewing up 2* teams with your 3*.
I don't know what they've done to PvP. I'm wondering if the player base has contracted so much that they've now been able to make everyone visible to everyone else in PvP. Because It used to be that I would only see a few people repeatedly show up over and over again. But now it seems that I'm seeing a bigger divergence of players.
I'm suffering too. I gave up on this PvP with only 650 points which is pathetic.0 -

Well, S.H.I.E.L.D is still top 10 in PVE, PVP, and Seasons, and CBS is, well, we're not quite there. So "completely fell apart" may be a tad premature.Tonzil wrote:EDIT:

6 is not an option, it's a long term goal that I'm playing for every day. Sorry, but I'm not going to drop $100-$200 to level my heroes up to 141 and if buying success is required then I'm done with this game. In the past I've paid $5-$20 a month to support the dev team since I like this game, not so that I have a competitive advantage. I don't like the play to win model. I don't want to "game" the system, I just want to play a game that has the difficulty appropriately scaled. I don't want all 2* easy victories, I want to see mostly similarly leveled opponents with a few higher ranged and lower ranged teams sprinkled in there for diversity. As it is now though I'm having to spend 20- 100 ISO each battle just to find a team that has only 1 maxed out 3*, one maxed out 2*, and the featured hero that is below level 100. Spending ISO in PvP just to find the "lesser" higher ranked opponents so I have a chance to win is preventing me from getting to my long term goal of having a level 141 team or two.0 -
I don't think 100-200 is enough. I think I figured it out that for $99 I could get enough HP for 16 covers; but for another $99 you can only get 52000 ISO. Thats not enough for one character.
Happy for the new Patch covers. I got top 50 as well so now Im sitting at 4/4/5. Played one match of Cage and was pretty fun. I think I might enjoy carving me up some OBW/Thor.0 -
@RWTD_BURN: I thought you were one of those players that is leveling everyone equally. You're in that **** 3* transition period. Getting those last covers is hard, but once you do and max two heroes it gets a bit easier.
I would never suggest that anyone spends money to level characters.
For me the PvP replays are ruining this game. I don't want to play two Cage Matches in a season. I don't want repeats of any PvP.
Last season the penultimate PvP gave LazyThor covers and then there was a LazyDaken PvP instead. Think it will be the same now? LazyThor rewards but a LazyStorm PvP following the cage match?
I miss the themed PvPs so much. Divine Champions, No-mans land, Lone star, Dark Avengers etc. People posted so many good ideas for PvP events and the devs turned a blind eye.0 -

Nope, I level my characters as quickly as possible. Which leads me to a question for you high level kings out there. I'm one level away from Hulk reaching his soft cap of 128, my only other character at 128 is the Punisher. So out of the list below (the only 3-4 * that I can raise over 100 currently), who should I level up next while keeping in mind that my 2 highest leveled heroes mentioned above?
Black Panther (2-4-4) Currently level 84 of 102.
Honey Badger Patches (5-3-2) Currently level 73 of 102 and also the featured hero of the current PvP.
Classic Magneto (3-4-3) Currently level 58 of 102, but about to get hit with the NERF bat.
X-Force Wolverine (2-1-4) Currently level 43 of 112, but will likely never be featured in a PvP or even a PvE.
And BTW Milkrain, I 100% agree with you on the themed PvP. Those would be awesome and spark some much needed life back into PvP.0
