So here's a question as I don't know the entire optimal clear deal. So far I've cleared, waited 8 hours, cleared, waited, and just finished my final clear.

My end time is around 11PM EST, it's about 5:30 right now.

The question is do I wait til 9, 9:30 to grind or just clear again and grind later? I'm at 8,348 in #38 and a clear now would put me into the top-10. If I wait and grind later do I make more points rather than one more clear and a grind in a few hours?

The points don't seem to move much as I'm not going to be able to have a full 8 hour refresh.

I believe that if you're not going to have a full clear ready by the time the node ends, wait as long as possible before the last grind.

The hypothetical ideal here would be "Wait until 10:59 PM and clear every node 6 times down to 1 point in one minute"

    That's obviously impossible, but. Well.

Do what you can, ok? icon_razz.gif

I've never really used MoStorm before, she's surprisingly fun once she gets some AP. I'm liking this MoStorm OBW combo, though Antman... kind of sucks.
Is your Ant-man undercovered? He's quite potent at higher levels, though I do understand he may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Hahahahaha my Antman is 74... But even the one they let you use in the first level is not really fun. I prefer pure damage over countdown damage because my tiles always end up in the wrong place. Beast was my main for a while and he just kept putting the blues in the wrong place for me...
Was that before or after his redesign? Beast was hopeless before...

Points increase dramatically in the later subs. I wouldn't worry too much. You can probably join on Monday and still make the final progression with optimal clears.

i very much highly doubt that i say sunday be your cut off date..Unless the pts go up for joining late... Love to try it but not sure i want to.
Yeah, Monday may be risky and I take no responsibility for lost progression rewards for taking my advice. If you join on Sunday there may even be some margin for error.

I'm a relatively new player, so I guess after? He was my first maxed 3 star so I stuck with him. Then again, I've only got 3 3 stars at max right now and none are ideal except for Falcon... sigh.

I don't really like any team built around the boosted characters I have. Only have Mohawk and The Hood maxed, but neither bring a lot of damage, being more support oriented with the ability to work in many comps. It means I've used a wide variety of teams so far. What teams are people using to minimize health pack usage for end of sub grinds?

Definitely after. The old version of Beast transformed adjacent tiles into blue special tiles in an X pattern... So they were very easy to match away.

For your 3 clears at 0, 8, and 16 hours into the sub, keep track of how long the clear takes. Then, take that, multiply it by the number of clears you want to do, and give yourself just enough time to finish at the end. For example, first sub took about 25 minutes a pass for me, so 25*6= 2.5 hours. I started my grind at about 2 hours 45 minutes left in the sub.

Progression reward seems really hard here, had 23k after 3rd sub (should be 34), so hope points will go up last subs!

Points always increase in the same way, first sub starts at 100 points for the easiest node and the final sub has 200 points for the easiest node. The subs inbetween the first and the last make up the difference in regular/equal steps, so in this event with seven subs: six steps of 1/6 increments in points added.

Say all nodes are at 1 in first sub and 2 in last sub you get:

    1 + 1 1/6 + 1 2/6 + 1 3/6 + 1 4/6 + 1 5/6 + 2 = 10 1/2 times the points available in the first sub.

So after sub 3 you are likely to have (1 + 1 1/6 + 1 2/6) / (10 1/2) = 1/3 of the points you will have if you play the remaining subs the same way you did the first three.

I'd say this is a rough estimate because this doesn't take into account the points the the one-time nodes with the 1500 Iso reward (although you also play one in each sub, so should be ok) and the points available in the repeatable node in the main window along with the nodes to unlock the new sub.

But if you would be at 23k after sub 3 would mean you could get up to about 69k points if you play the way you did before. Of course this whole calculation is less valid if you started after the first sub ended (or close to ending).

Sorry in advance for any mistakes I made... icon_e_ugeek.gif
  • I messed up yesterday and didn't get clears like I should have as I was busy and haven't cleared today. I'm sitting at 31,000 right now. Do I just grind the rest of today and go back to optimal clears tomorrow or is the legendary out of reach?
  • I was lucky to join fresh baby bracket (really fresh - I was 4th to join). Just a handful of people in my bracket do optimal 8-hour clears. Even less do any significant end-of-sub grind. This is my rare golden opportunity to farm 100 HP a day for top-10 sub placement. So this keeps me grinding (and incidentally keeping 1st position so far) and for a change the grind doesn't feel so exhausting. Legendary token and (hopefully) Jean Grey will be a cherry on top. If not for that farming opportunity I certainly wouldn't bother grinding for 7 days.

You'd need to average 17k for the next 3 days. It *might* be possible to grind with the increase in points but it's touch n go.

Starting to think I may not be able to reach the Legendary token after all this time around. One clear left of Columbia, then two more subs, and I am just over halfway with 47000 points... May need to kick up the grind a bit, I suppose.

I'm just using Mohawk 153 (non-optimal), OBW, and Surfer 1/0/0, it does ok for health packs because I cascade for days - barring lucky enemy cascades, of course. Mohawk/OBW can carry it on their own if you have another red user, considering they and my weak Antman still roll through his required node.

I hadn't considered using my Surfer. He's 0/0/1 though, so perhaps less effective at soaking since he doesn't have true healing yet. The team I've found to make me most happy so far is Mohawk, Steve Rogers, and Scarlet Witch. The stuns lock the opposition down while redflag.png and blackflag.png do the damage. Thanks for the reply!

Oh oops, my Surfer is 0/1/0, just has red power. If he had blue... man I'd be unstoppable in pve. That looks like a fun team too, though my Cap and SW are not quite usable level yet - certainly not vs lvl 245 enemies, ugh.

I was having the same thought.

Columbia VI is just annihilating my roster. On my third attempted clear, I've burned 15 health packs without even getting Hood below 2,500 health. I've never even been able to get more than 5 AP in any color. It's craziness, considering that they have three one-shot powers.

Oh well, I guess I might miss out on this one...

I'm sitting at 44K now with what looks like two more subs left. Any chance at the Legendary?

I was lucky enough to draw Old Man Logan yellowflag.png last night and have been having fun sticking him in front of the Hood and someone else. He tanks everything, regens quickly, and his 4-way and 5-way matches are like mini-abilities by themselves.

Even so, I'm looking at the time left and my progression score (just got the Mohawk cover this morning) and am wondering how hard I'm going to have to grind to get to the token.
