Sorry about not getting the full post up last night; ended up having household maintenance semi-emergency to attend to. Real life must come first, and sometimes it's no fun.

This is at least the third 7-day PVE event to run this month, with Thick as Thieves and a Heroic interrupting the streak. Also, given awards, I smell either Prodigal Sun or Deadpool v MPQ coming up. (If the latter, I think it'd be nice to add a 3rd sub that's "Deadpool vs the New Guys" to bring in the characters new since the event was created a year ago.)

This is a 7-day event because there's no way to make it be not a 7-day event unless you do 12-hour subs. There are just too many of them. Additionally, the last of the three nodes that open the event on the main map (team-up with all required characters) remains open throughout the duration of the event.

Editing to add the reminder (thanks, mags187) that the final non-essential node in each sub is a non-repeatable 1500 ISO award.

I've said before I have a soft spot for this particular PVE event because of how generous it is. That, and it was the first one I entered, placing 3rd and getting my first 3 Patch covers.

  • A week, no way. Despite the reward is very good, I do not cheer to dedicate so much time to get it. In three or four days I begin this pve and if I'm lucky maybe I can try to get blue Jean Grey.

I am finally recovered from recent burn out and am ready to take another run at the prog-legendary token. That should ensure I am once again burnt out in time for the anniversary events.

I've never really used MoStorm before, she's surprisingly fun once she gets some AP. I'm liking this MoStorm OBW combo, though Antman... kind of sucks.

Is your Ant-man undercovered? He's quite potent at higher levels, though I do understand he may not be everyone's cup of tea.

how many covers does antman need to not be undercovered?

mine is 203, which i would define as severley undercovered. his attack tiles from his yellow power are meh, and even his purple tile is slow, needing several turns before they do serious damage

You got me beat then - I think mine is around level 180. Chalk it up to different playing styles then.
(Mine is 5/1/2 and I feel purple packs a nice punch. Blue and yellow are acceptable but not great, but that might change when I get more covers).

My default team is Psylocke + Squirrel Girl since I have a thing for full color coverage. If it's not an essential battle, Hood is the third.

I try to take advantage of the boosted characters in every PVE so my team for this is MoStorm, OBW and MNMags. Though in the tougher nodes I swap out MoStorm for Cstorm to take advantage of her wind storm (my MoStorm only has one cover which I won in the last PVE)

Just burned through 5 health packs on Nigeria VI due to some outrageous scaling, my characters are lvl 82 (except Mohawk who is 40) and my opponents? lvl 190 Ares,Venom and Moonstone. They are more than 100 levels above mine! Guess I'll have to lose a lot more times on purpose to balance this scaling out a bit for the next node...

I vaguely recall one of the devs mentioning that there is a minimum level on the more difficult nodes, so trying to game the scaling may not work anymore. Can't say for sure though.
  • Didn't have OBW til this morning (Yay for a ** DDQ pull? icon_e_surprised.gif ) So finally cleared the essentials on the second clear. Right now it looks as if some are just grinding the nodes with P1 at over 10k right now... I'm at 4950 w/ a missed opportunity at the first OBW clear.

I say this on every event (despite ALWAYS making the legendary token progression) but I don't think I'll make the 82k legendary token. I'm at about 15k after clearing the first node 3 times, the second node 1.5 times (stupid scaling) with 5 days left to go that means I need an average of 13.4k a day? I'm managing half that now. I'm rank 25 which makes me wonder just how much grinding the other 24 have done to get so far above me when so far I've done the 'optimal clear' method?

I'm wondering because I'm trying out the optimal clear for the first time and I'm at least 5,000 points down and we've only had enough time for two clears. I'm in the hundreds and falling. Granted having one less essential until the second clear put me at a slight disadvantage but that was only 346 points not 5,000. It looks as if there clearing twice, wait a bit, clear two more times, and finally wait to go the third round of double clears.

I'm missing Ant-Man so that is one node down for me but should cost me so many points. Usually my method is to clear any nodes with over 300 points until they are below three hundred points, then wait 3-4 hours for regeneration then rinse and repeat. This usually gets me t150 and the legendary every time, this is my first time trying optimal clear and I feel as though I'm worse off than I normally am. I'll stick with it though because I want to properly test the common consensus that this method is better.

The points you feel like you're missing will be more than made up during your final clear. It's called "optimal" for a reason! Just be sure to give yourself enough time to grind the nodes down at the end.

Points increase dramatically in the later subs. I wouldn't worry too much. You can probably join on Monday and still make the final progression with optimal clears.

Hahahahaha my Antman is 74... But even the one they let you use in the first level is not really fun. I prefer pure damage over countdown damage because my tiles always end up in the wrong place. Beast was my main for a while and he just kept putting the blues in the wrong place for me...

i very much highly doubt that i say sunday be your cut off date..Unless the pts go up for joining late... Love to try it but not sure i want to.
  • I may have made a mistake in joining early (aka just now) hoping that Optimal clears can give me t50 in nodes for HP.

I just really need HP right now and I hope I'm going to get more the long and hard way instead of just camping at the end and hoping for a new bracket...

    Well.

Got the three essentials, so here's hoping...
  • So here's a question as I don't know the entire optimal clear deal. So far I've cleared, waited 8 hours, cleared, waited, and just finished my final clear.

My end time is around 11PM EST, it's about 5:30 right now.

The question is do I wait til 9, 9:30 to grind or just clear again and grind later? I'm at 8,348 in #38 and a clear now would put me into the top-10. If I wait and grind later do I make more points rather than one more clear and a grind in a few hours?

The points don't seem to move much as I'm not going to be able to have a full 8 hour refresh.
