The Fantastic 4 get no love because the movie was HORRIBLE. I saw it and the casting is ridiculous and the movie didn't even make sense. The devs must have gotten a full preview of the movie because I would want to distance myself from whoever made this piece of junk. Any person who backs up this movie is severely confused and needs to go get a reality check. I don't even want to read the reviews......

Here's some headlines if you don't want the reviews:

'Fantastic Four' Has The Worst Rating For A Marvel Movie Since 'Elektra'
    - As of this writing, the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot is sitting at a measly 10 percent Freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
This is the summer's worst movie
    - A lousy script, unfocused direction, incoherent editing, shockingly terrible special effects — and, probably, panicked studio executives — have left its four talented stars muddling through a dull superhero origin story with zero payoff.
Here’s the Thing About ‘Fantastic Four’: It’s Pretty Terrible
    - Fantastic Four feels like a 100-minute trailer for a movie that never happens.

That pretty much sums it all up Buret0. Save your money for some roster slots or even an ability you all have been waiting on, at least you will get a sense of satisfaction in your purchase. Was this movie shown to Stan Lee? I know Fox still has the rights and I don't know if it matters but this can't happen again with another Marvel themed movie.

There was a theory that FOX is just making a F4 movie preventing it revert back to Marvel. That I get, but taking a dump on it & not giving 2 hoots in an attempt to make a good F4 film is just atrocious & unforgiveable. If that's the best they can conceive, they might as well part ways with it rather than tarnishing one of my favourite Marvel teams.

I doubt it was shown to Stan. I read a recent interview where he mentioned that a character that was white is now black and correctly guessed that it was Human Torch, but it was quite clear he wasn't sure whether he had correctly remembered which character it was. I know he's busy and not as young as he was, but surely the film can't leave so little of an impact that Stan himself would forget which character was now black?

I wonder if Marvel had the business sense to write something into the rights contract to stipulate the film has to have a certain level of success in order for Fox to retain the rights? In retrospect it seems like a necessity of the contract.

Trank has made one great, self-run film, Chronicle, and has now disowned this film: http://www.avclub.com/article/josh-tran ... d-h-223515

I have utter sympathy for him. He's under 30, without the clout to push for his vision, and Fox seems to have 'managed' the film into a bland pile of nothing. I've read he's suffering a nervous breakdown, and that seems to be a perfectly human reaction to being thrust into the spotlight as the guiding vision of a mediocre film. Once those contracts are signed, it's hard to get away.

I read in a review that Stan didn't even appear in a cameo in the movie. I don't remember the last time Stan Lee didn't appear in a cameo for a Marvel movie.

He appears in Marvel Studios movies.

This is not one of those.

Woefully, painfully, obviously, not one of those:

Marvel Studios, the direct heir to the creative legacy behind the Marvel universe, can make a decent flick out of even the Ant-Man premise. If If 20th Century Fox had ANY regard for this property, they'd give it back to its rightful owners.
Stan made cameos in all the Spider-Man movies including the Toby McGuire ones and the Andrew Garfield ones. He also appeared in the last 2 Fantastic Four movies.

Just remember though, he only cameoed in them all pre MCU. Since then it was only the spider-man movies he appeared in.
  • I blame the ff4 movie failing on the xdp event.

Stan Lee didn't appear in X-Men Days of Future Past.

My favourite cameo was in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Just like the classic comic, he failed to get into the wedding ceremony of Reed & Sue.

Stan definitely cameo'd in Captain America & both Avengers films that I can remember off the top of my head. He was also at the very beginning of Incredible Hulk. I can't remember exactly when he appeared in the IM flicks but he must have.

Theory nothing, it's exactly why they made it.
In the 90s Roger Corman made a fantastic four movie without being told it was never meant for release, it was made simply to keep the rights. It wasn't especially good but it was way more faithful to the source material than anything that followed.

In 2005 they made that Fantastic Four two-movie set. First one did okay so they made the sequel...which did not do okay. Again, they made the first one simply to hold onto the rights.

And now in 2015 they do it again to hold onto the movie rights. So on the plus side this movie did SO badly we won't have to suffer another one until 2025!

Amazing Spider Man was also a cheaply made movie simply to keep the Spider Man rights. So was X-men First Class.
