i had to think about this for a little bit. for the one star stage i used the 2 power heroes and iron man to get through relative quickly so i do think there is a purpose for them. but she is awful, it is a relief to find her on the enemy team when facing high level nodes. if they give her a good 3rd power it could upset the scales, but there are more important things i would have them spend their time on.

Indeed, I used to think Ragnaork was annoying when he had two power, when he got his third he was even worse to fight against. However Rags is a three star... A lot of the one stars only have two powers. And in terms of making money there doesn't seem much incentive for D3 to even introduce a third power for one stars, as people are very unlikely to spend HP on powering them up (unless they have money to burn)

In fact I doubt they will even work on 2* any more never mind 1* given the number of 4* they have thrown at us already!
  • My opinion on 2 star land is likely very controversial and would draw a lot of aggro, but I honestly think ignoring your early game as "Finished" is a death sentence for an online ongoing game, because eventually things will be dated and solutions later thought of need to be reapplied with the new customer/player in mind.

I think the 2 star ranks could definitely use a tweak, retiring some of the characters for new two stars, and make sure you get all 20 possible color combinations represented. Currently, there's very poor coverage for team construction aside from a handful of "winner" combos, so I always seem to come up missing a color unless I run one of the three Red Green Yellow characters, and that in turn limits my working options for my other two colors.

I'm getting way off topic though, and I do feel like the 2 star system as is, works. Yelena on the other hand, she's just terrible.
  • Or they should at the very least change her cover. Looks totally like a porn magazine, together with the parental guidance warning

My answer is another question, do you want to fight another, stronger 1star villain scaled to 395 in PVE?

The adding of a 3rd power wasn't even the question, but it appears to be where the thread went.

Yes, remove her from rotation, no, do not give her a 3rd power unless we get new PVE content, she is annoying enough.

This would not affect where she's placed as an opponent in PVE, and she could continue to be used just like Gorgon is, even though he's not playable, and Bag-Man as well, who still shows up in the first DDQ node as an opponent.

This is simply asking if others think it's time for her to be a PVP drop only reward, like Bagman is, and removed from the prologue rewards and standard token pulls.

that's bagman. yelena is there making him sandwiches.

    Time to stop making 4*'s.

Turn one of those 4* plans into classic spiderman that replaces bagman as 2*, give all the 1*'s third abilities that have been cooked up as 4* ideas....

Don't give the 1*s a third ability, create the new 1* Bruce Banner, who which hit upgrades to 2* Purple Trouser Hulk, when he gets hit big, he turns into 3* Hulk, who when he gets hit very big turns into 4* World War Hulk and drops a meteor on your head.
There you go D3, totally new mechanic for you!

    O.o

That's great, but what are your thoughts about Yelena and her value to the playerbase, current and future, as a playable character?

Edit: Also, just in case anyone has a change in opinion as this is discussed, I went ahead and allowed vote changing.

So I like using Yelena I use her with Ironman and storm on my DDQ 1 star daily and I use the same team in the 1st few nodes of PvE. Her Purple power bites and I hardly ever get enough AP to fire it off, but her black power is not that bad. How many times have you thrown out caps countdown tile and Yelena has turned it inot a crit strike tile and caused a cascade. I wish her black was 12 instead of 13 though, but I use it over storms black.

I have never recruited her, that I can recall... I sell everyone one I get. Doesn't matter to me.

Though I'm sure she'll get re-worked just before they increase the 20Iso for winning...

She should be the splash image for standard token just like moonstone should be for anything that can have 2 stars. If I liked or wanted to play either character I could have had dozens at this rate. I understand rngs are random, but those numbers need to be looked at again.

Her and moonstone have me really suspicious as to whether or not all the 1 and 2 star %'s actually are even.

to newbies, she is sunny and new, a characters to chase that you can level and a carrot to buy HP (I know I was frustrated early doors at having various venom, Juggernaut and Yalena covers that I couldn't afford to roster).
To the 2* players that have rostered her, she is the lesson that letting go of old characters isn't always that bad, so move onwards and upwards.
To everyone else she is 100 iso, along with venom/juggs/iron man/storm/hawkeye. The pool of 1*s is hardly bursting at the seams, it can cope with her. Her presence doesn't slow down the 2* transition.

The odds on the 1* aren't even, not according to my token sheet.

    IM35 = 14%
    Juggs / Storm = 10%
    All others = 7-8%

That's over 700+ standard tokens. Someone better versed in stats than I can tell you the margin of error on those.

In the 2* realm they actually do look fairly even, though my sample is a lot smaller.

No 1* has value to the playerbase beyond getting a few wins under your belt, so you can pick up the 2*'s. After that, one is sufficient for DDQ and never needed for anything else. No new player should be wasting their precious early iso in hawkeye or venom either, imo - with the exception of Juggy the two-ability characters are pretty useless (that included the 2*'s and 3*'s when they only had two abilities).

Yelena is the one 1* I never bothered to level when I was a newbie, obviously the worst of the bunch. 1* abilities should be cheap to fire off - the health of these characters compared to the ability drain of that health is much more important. Needs a serious fix.

The prologue was so long ago for me I forget her place in the story - but I don't know Daken's either, other than to be annoying when he is level 300+ in PVE's. I honestly feel the 1* transition is now so short, and so worthless in the long run (HP costs to keep these characters makes them un-keepable) that they should be discarded - moved into the 2* tier and everything shifted back one star.

While this is a valid argument, I'd debate her original intent doesn't work anymore. There's been obvious changes to the game structure since it launched, including (I believe) costs of early slots for characters, (you really don't wind up needing to buy slots with money until you're in the 2-3 star transition) and "letting go of old characters" isn't as a sure thing anymore to teach, with the use of 2 stars in essentials continuing.

And while her presence doesn't slow down the transition, I'm also not sure that her presence helps it either, and it's been stated she was even balanced as an "NPC" character which is why her abilities are overcosted, so she doesn't punish people overly during the prologue as an opponent.

I think upping the 1 star level max to 94, giving the 2 abilities characters a 3rd ability, and adding a 1 star Spidey to attract new players, is a sound idea, but last time I talked about that heavy a revamp to the 1 star level, a -lot- of the forum base was against it, and some gave very good reasons for feeling that way.
  • Cool looking character, but unfortunately not very good. I do think it would be fun to rework the 1 stars, would make the game more interesting for starting players. To be honest I nearly quit when I first started because the starters were so underwhelming. That is until I realized there were only 3 good ones and made my way into building my 2* team.

Yelena is no longer limited! And her ascended 5* version is a better Mr Sinister (although they'd go well together). What a journey she's been on these last 10+ years.

    5* ascended Yelena stats:

    Health: 49854
    Match damage: 1003/891/780

    PURPLE: 12 AP
Level 3: Steals 2 AP of each colour except Purple, deals 19208 damage
Level 4: Steals 2 AP of each colour except Purple, deals 20422 damage
Level 5: Steals 2 AP of each colour, deals 23182 damage

    BLACK: 6 AP
Level 3: Turns one enemy special tile into a crit tile, deals 12457 damage
Level 3: Turns one enemy special tile into a crit tile, deals 13401 damage
Level 3: Turns 2 enemy special tiles into crit tiles, deals 14627 damage

    BLUE: PASSIVE
Level 3: Creates Blue trap tiles that deal 8030 damage when matched
Level 3: Creates Blue trap tiles that deal 8760 damage when matched
Level 3: Creates Blue trap tiles that deal 10147 damage when matched
