How are characters arranged on the roster?

  • Alphabetical seems to be last on the priority list. All other things being euqal (i.e. max capped characters) they are in an alphabetical listing. Clearly there are other factors at work on non maxed characters to sort out level ties.

As far as I can tell it goes

    Current Level (a 95 is always above a 94).
Potential Max Level (a 3/3/1 is always above a 2/3/2)
Alphabetical (Captain America who is level 120 and 3/5/5 comes before The Hulk who is level 120 and 3/5/5)

It's not just covers, and it's not just max level

I now have 3* at 94 both before and after my 2* clump. The ones before have full covers. The ones after have less than 13 covers. Cymmina's answer was very close.

It's not Covers. I'm getting really tired of repeating myself.

Scarlet Witch (8 covers, Level Cap Index of 16) > Cyclops (7 covers, Level Cap Index of 12)
Scarlet Witch (8 covers, Level Cap Index of 16) > Cyclops (8 covers, Level Cap Index of 15)

If it was Covers like you suggested, Cyclops would have shuffled ahead of Scarlet Witch when I got his 8th cover. If you have proof otherwise, I suggest you bring it.

I see how even my statement was incomplete. It might be some weird combination of level cap and covers, but not strictly either.

Anyone have any ideas how to properly classify this?

I've already classified it, you're stubbornly refusing to acknowledge it.

    Again, not Covers.

Hulkbuster (0/0/3, 3 Covers, Level Cap Index of 6) sorts ahead of Nick Fury (2/1/1, 4 Covers, Level Cap Index of 5)

    Not Level Cap either.

X-Force Wolverine (max level 147, Level Cap Index of 12) sorting behind Modern Thor (max level 102, Level Cap Index of 15)

There is no "weird" combination of anything. All data points to this simple, efficient pattern:
    • Level descending
    • Level Cap Index descending
    • Rarity descending
    • Name ascending

Again, unless someone can prove otherwise (actual proof, not just spouting off whatever random theory they came up with in the shower), there's nothing else to say on the topic.

ok, take a look at the screenshot of my roster. With 3Thor having a Gold vs Rare rarity, both at level 154 and max covered, why wouldn't Thor be ahead of Doom if name is last?
  • Ok. I've genuinely misinterpreted what was said earlier, due to confusing different posts. Thanks for sticking it out. It seems odd that they would use a level cap index.

@Malcrof: the earlier explanation of gold vs rare was probably not true. It just seems to go 4* - 3* - 2* - 1*.

Ahh gotcha. Then mine are fine

Looks to me, based on jojedas examples, that there is a sub filter on covers that loosely looks at level cap.

    So maybe:
    LEVEL
    COVERS
    -> level cap
    RARITY (NUMBER OF STARS)
    ALPHABETICALLY

Ah sir, you are correct. The reason is because the first 2 covers allow for a smaller gain in the level cap than the 3rd-5th. I generally don't have to worry about this, as most of the characters I want sorted are fully covered anyways. I don't take a 3* beyond level 40 until they are either A) fully covered, or B) extremely useful without full covers (i.e. iron fist, kamala, cyclops). Most of the bottom feeders get sorted however they want.
