PVE Prodigal Sun - June 11-19

  • I am noticing that many nodes do not have goons feeding enemies colors they need for their skills. Unless it was always like this in Prodigal Sun?
They've been pretty good about that since they 'rescaled' alot of these events. Juggernaut heroic had a pretty obnoxious Kingpin + yellow feeder combo

Prodigal sun used to have quite a bit of feeder + high level hero, but the thing I think remember most about prodigal sun is the ridiculous scaled nodes even if you started a fresh event - goons and characters had a high, high ceiling.

Forgot to mention earlier I've got refreshes of Prodigal Sun: L.A. on my stream now, in the VOD archive. Also on Youtube for your viewing pleasure icon_mrgreen.gif
  • D3, can we get some nodes without goons. It's annoying having to deal with countdowns every match

yes, I've really enjoyed the non-feeder goons. I don't mind goons ever since my cap got his 5th red. thor, storm or panther would be totally broken with feeders.

Can someone refresh my memory? I could have sworn there were two Event Tokens in the progression rewards on previous iterations of this event, but I see only one on this one.

The april run did reward two tokens, but one less two-star cover.

um, you mean the easiest type of enemy to beat?

Huh. I had noticed that they seem to be giving out that second token less, though the last time I noted it was a 4 day event rather than 7. I suppose it's not a big deal in the long run, but it's definitely a bit annoying.

I'd guess you didn't wreck on that stupid Yelena - Pyro - Pyro node a couple events ago, or fail to clear that one Threaten tile on a Muscle - ninja - ninja DDQ wave. If you've ever had one of those gaming experiences, you might reconsider that comment.

even if someone wiped against them (I have before), their play is set and known. you know exactly how much ap they will get, you know exactly when an ability is coming, you know the exact state of the board from the end of your turn to the beginning of your next turn. the only random thing they do is where they put their cd. you can plan match-4s/5s ahead and know they won't get screwed up by the opponent matching something in the area, or taking it for themselves.

cap is really key though. without cap, there is very little effective goon control in the game (there's probably some I don't know as much about)- I know some characters help a little, but they're all lapped by Lcap. before my cap got the 5th red, goon nodes were more difficult and topped out at ~240 (because I couldn't ace them). now they've reached up to 320, and normally I don't have an issue with them. if I ever get some more blue covers, they will get even easier.

I haven't failed DDQ in probably 6 months to never, and no, I didn't lose to Yelena + Goons considering that's a node 3*Steve/Logan will handle just fine, a single target + 2 jokes.

i'm actually kinda into these goon nodes (with the caveat they aren't feeding the active enemy the right color AP - i do also recall wiping to yelena and recoiling in embarrassment)...but very manageable otherwise with Lcap or even squishier guys like loki, falcon, or OBW if the scaling's not too crazy. which, it hasn't really been for me in this event, i'm killin it with no community scaling. hooray for hella beast covers...?
  • Just finished Wakanda on my stream if anyone would like to see the lay of the land, MUCH MUCH MUCH more fair subevent with no community scaling(lower levels) and no obnoxious feeder + character combos.

    It's a dream.

The goons are feeding plenty in the Washington DC sub. Grey Suit is in six nodes, and all but one of them have goons on her colors. (Nice trick buffing her, and then taking her away from me!)

So, did anyone else experience odd scaling in Wakanda? So far, this PVE has been a blast, long and grueling, but nonetheless, fun! But last night, for the first time in this PVE, i had a node scale out of control, and lost all 10 health packs trying to beat it.

Final node, (IM40, BP, Goon) first run through was lvl 178, not hard, 2nd was 182, not hard, (now 8 hours later) 3rd was 229 (**** with the huge jump) , lost twice, but finally beat it, when i went to try it before bed last night, they were all 341..jumped 111 levels without being touched ..needless to say, no amount of boosting helped and i could not beat it (close with mags, lthor, hood)

last night was tough, but doable for me. used some health packs but nothing out of the ordinary. in fact my first clear of dc this morning didn't require any packs to finish it, which is nice. I got some good boards and a couple of cascades, so I fully expect the next couple of runs to be much harder after it scales for my good/lucky play.

Same, first clear today was cake. I do find it odd that even on nodes with no CAP, or a node with no GSBW, i cannot use team-ups for either of those chars. Not even on a 3 goon node.

I love how three straight replies to my post all essentially say "LCap, easy, duh."

My LCap is 0/2/1, guys. Not everyone on this forum is a 20+ max-3* cover player.

I said in my post, the goon nodes were always tough before I got steve's 5th red. I did use **cap some before I sold him with some success, but it just takes forever to finish because he does so little damage.

If you're a 2* PVE player, TinyCap works on any node with 2 or more goons. He's completely useless once you've got Steve at x/5/5, and horrible in PVP so he typically ranks low on character rankings. I've always been surprised by this because 2* players are going to struggle in PVP anyways, so relying on PVE at that phase is a smarter bet.
