I'm one of those people that wasn't affected at all, so opening up MPQ and getting free **** was like a little Xmas. I was happy. I was also unaware that so many people have been hurting for so long. With that in mind, I will have to say that although this is better than tokens (but what isn't?) it is peanuts compared to what everyone could have gained, had they been able to play.

I understand that "flooding" your economy with any resource can be detrimental, however from a customer service perspective being generous is going to do far more good than harm. And what would it actually do to the economy? I would guess that the biggest concern is that "all these rare new Carnage covers would be less rare," which strikes me as a really, really, really weak stance. On the downside, yes, it means that a lot more people would have the new character without earning it, or an extra cover. Gadzooks! The sky is falling!

I bet I can tell you what the vast majority of players will surely do with that cover: Sell it for Iso. 500 extra Iso per player is not exactly earth-shattering. Maybe some will buy a slot to put him in. That's bad? No, that's not bad. Hell, some people might actually buy the HP for that slot. One cover is certainly not going to upset the PvP balance. How useful are those one-cover loaners, after all? If we're worried about PvE then it's once again the value of a one-cover character. Oh, and maybe more people actually playing more as they will have access to that essential node. More player engagement is not bad.

It all comes back to the perennial issue of a staggeringly tight-fisted compensation policy. I'm not a marketing expert by any means, but when the provider drops the ball (and does so with alarming regularity) recouping the goodwill of the customer seems to be a lot more important than maintaining the illusory game economy.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon here and say that if this is the complete compensation for iOS users, this is simply inadequate.

    I won't go as far as to imply that placement or progression rewards should be a consideration, but they were locked out of playing everything for, what? Three days? That's;

A complete wash on the Carnage PvE. Re-running the event realistically puts them further behind the curve.
A complete wash on DDP. Two Taco Tokens a day. Whatever ISO-8. Each 3* cover.
A complete wash on at least one PvP.

The ISO-8 and Hero Points awarded today was a fantastic goodwill gesture, and a great start, but it's not a solution at all.

Sending players the Taco Tokens should be a given. Sending players equivalent ISO-8 compensation for DDP should be a given. Sending players (that could earn them) the 3* covers should be a given. Fixing the missed DDP stuff is the easy part.

For PvP, I would personal ere on the side of caution and award a single 3* cover for (each) event.

PvE is a the complex monster, honestly. I would, bare minimum, send everyone (everyone[i/]) one Carnage cover. Then, those affected by the iOS bug should get an additional one. Then, affected Android users should get an additional one (for a total of three).

tl;dr: Compensate for each part of the problem. You can't throw a blanket over a fire and expect it to extinguish.

I was beginning to think I was crazy, since every time I said this wasn't enough everyone seemed to be puzzled at how I could possibly feel that way.

But given the most sensible and level-headed person on the forum agrees with me, I'm now fully confident I was right to begin with. Thanks man.

I could not have said it any better myself. It's great to see this viewpoint coming from a player who wasn't at all affected by the ongoing problems with the game. For that, we thank you.

FWIW, if I ever saw you making statements like GK's I was most definitely in agreement, so it wasn't everyone. icon_e_wink.gif

Sadly, what I would say is that having payed closer attention to MPQ for a few months, D3's views on compensation are such that they seem to be either completely apathetic or even daring their player base to bail... and based on the chatter amongst the alliances, it appears to be working with some degree of significance.

Do I think 250 & 1500 are enough? Uhm, yeah, no. Do I enjoy the miraculous change of not just shipping out a couple Vegas casino $1 chips? H3lls YES.

It would be great if the developers of all the other games I've played and am currently playing could get together with D3 and make some painfully obvious but helpful suggestions, but again, based on the past few months, I'm not entirely sure they would listen.

I disagree with "the most level headed person on this forum" fest, but that WAS a truly awesome post and I agree with every single part of it, other than not specifying that some of the Android players are STILL locked out of the game.

Could your please send that to Kabir, David, Will, etc? On behalf of all of us? FROM YOU, they will 110% listen.

    :+D
  • I expressed, in polite but clear terms, how this last debacle impacted me.

Stonewalled. I reiterated how I found the reparation package insulting to a long-time and paying player.

    Stonewalled again.

The fact is, I am still playing, but with a very bitter taste in my mouth, and I am never, ever spending money on this game or on these devs again.

Great game, but slapping loyal players in the face isn't a good strategy.

Great game, but there are other great games, and if I'm going to spend money, but more importantly _time_ on something I'd rather be treated like a valued customer than a schmuck

Thanks, and I agree, I'm certainly not the most "level headed" (I feel like that way maybe not the word he was looking for?). I'd pass that off to someone like Stax, whom always has very well thought out posts, generally devoid of snark or sarcasm.

I'm running under the assumption that they're going to compensate separately for Android players. I'll jump on that ball when that's fixed and addressed.

I'm going to wait until everything is wrapped up in a bow. If I approach the subject now I'll be met with a vague "we're still hashing things out" response. That's what I would do in their situation as well.

  • Carnage is back, as promised...unfortunately many of us Android users still are unable to play, so we're going to miss the boat...AGAIN...but hey, don't worry, guy! We gave everyone that could play some Hero Points and ISO! Send us more money!

what a freaking joke if that is what they were talking about... So someone with a good 2 to 3 star team that can Take top 50 IN A PVE but could not cause of the outage gets screwed major cause they can not score 1000 pts in a PVP but they could of taken top 50 in a PVE

This is why i will not give this joke of a company a penny.

How do you say.. O those who missed out on it will have a chance to earn them... PEOPLE CAN NOT SCORE 1000 PTS IN A PVP But could get top 50 in a pve by grinding

how they made it sound he was coming back in another PVE
Thank you for once again screwing us over.

umm.. i was kidding.. but wow on the reaction, the PVP is timed with his release just as all other were.. they stated they would be re-running a carnage PVE..
