    I'm getting a lot of jitter when scrolling. I'm using Chrome (current ver) on Win7. The top bar is the worst offender for the jitter effect, but the whole thing isn't smooth. I opened in in IE to see if it's common across browsers and it's much more stable there and looks a little better too. The fonts seem clearer.

    An update on the jitter. It seemed to go away, so I thought you fixed it already, but then I posted a reply in another thread and it came back. This is really strange, but it appears that any thread I have not posted in scrolls fine, but if I go into a thread where I have replied, it jitters when scrolling. icon_e_geek.gif

    edit: once I leave the thread and come back, it's smooth again.
  • So much scrolling! My fingers are worn out after just viewing this one thread.

    Also when clicking on the little number on a post to view the up and down vote comments it's totally screwed up. I'm on an iPhone btw.

    Where is the "old theme" link? I can't find it anywhere. This new site is way to big.

    Bottom of the page, on the right, just above the red area.

    Interesting, the new theme prevented zonatahunt from seeing Jamie Madrox's post on page 2 saying where the link is. Or he just didn't read the thread icon_e_biggrin.gif

    Or the one I made previous to that.

    Rio: If you read this, I really like your tweaks. I hope they implement them because it's a way better looking experience.

    Thank you for the Old Theme option. icon_e_smile.gif
  • Went back to the "old theme" option.

    New look is kind of big and it kept freezing my browsers.

    Change is hard indeed! icon_e_wink.gificon_e_smile.gif

    Well, the usability on desktop PCs is completely in the toilet with the new board look:
    • Wasted screen real-estate by overshot padding and margin on many elements.
      (And then going on to have too little around a few other elements; e.g. the toolbar above the editor...)
    • Extremely poor contrast between background and borders or text in some important places.
    • Bad choice of font size for condensed reading; 12px works out far better than 14px. This is not webpage copy that you're reading at a glance.
    • Ridiculously oversized sticky header bar taking up far too much of the screen vertically and not even collapsing once the user starts scrolling.

    So: to Stylish we go!
    @-moz-document url-prefix(http://d3go.com/forums/) {
      .navbar-nav > li > a {
        padding-top    : 15px;
        padding-bottom : 15px;
      }

      .navbar-brand > img {
        max-height : 100%;
      }

      .navbar-form {
        padding-top : 0;
      }

      .divider_top_big {
        height : 80px;
      }

      p.author {
        margin-bottom : 5px;
      }

      .post {
        padding : 10px 20px;
      }

      .postbody {
        font-size : .857em;
      }

      .postbody .content {
        padding-top : 10px;
      }

      .notice {
        padding-top : .5em;
      }

      @media (min-width: 1200px) {
        .container {
          margin-right : 20px;
          margin-left  : 20px;
          width        : auto;
        }
      }
    }

    And with just a minor bit of retooling, we already get a 200% better result:

    Oh and by the way...CAN WE PLEASE FINALLY GET THE FORUM RUNNING ON AN ACTUAL SECURE HTTPS CONNECTION!
    The casual leaking of passwords over plain text and the trivial session hijacking leading to the exposure of private data is really at odds with the privacy policy...
    I wish I could upvote this post twice.

    The smaller banner is nice, but can you use the stylesheet to just make it not be fixed to the top of the screen? i.e. it's at the top of the page, when you scroll down, it scrolls off the top rather than staying there.

    Please add a link at the bottom of the page where at a minimum you can return to the current forum.

    Especially since so many of us are both playing this game and browsing the forums on mobile devices.

    The simple fact that this site is now responsive is leaps and bounds beyond the old one.

    The max. width of the page is a good thing. Having pages go 100% is terrible. There is a limit to how many characters should be in a line of text. The old site went way beyond that most of the time, terrible for legibility.

    this site is a huge improvement

    Jamie and Moonroach,

    Gee, thanks for the sarcastic responses, but I didn't ask because I hadn't read your responses...but because the link simply does not exist for me where it's supposed to. So, I ask again, where should the link be? It's not above the red bar at the bottom right of the page like it's supposed to be.
  • You may want to edit the first post to reflect this...

    The "legacy view" link is only available if you are logged in to your account.

    I know that I only log in to my account if I want to post, or to check or send a pm. It is possible many others do the same, hence the confusion over where to find the link.

    Any way we can get that link to appear regardless?

    Soooooo funny, only after I posted the above response did the link to the old pages appear after the [ DST]. It's obvious that not all the pages have a functional link, or even a visual link, to the old forum appearance.

    Zonatahunt, I apologise for any offence I caused. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic.

    If you've seen any of my posts on this forum redesign you'll understand that I'm not a fan, and my comment was meant to indicate the noisy mess that I consider the new design to be.

    Then I threw in a humorous aside, which possibly wasn't as humorous as I intended.

    personally, I hate the new format too, but I appreciate D3 giving us the ability to go back to the old theme. As far as D3 trying to make its site more mobile friendly is concerned, this is a common situation. If you use eBay or Paypal for example, they too have made access to their sites more mobile friendly, albeit in different ways. Paypal took D3's approach, making the website version look identical to the mobile app version. EBay decided to release a dedicated app instead of revamping its website; but that approach is probably more understandable considering how much eBay is raking in from advertising revenue (ads posted at the top and bottom of the page cost in 20 grand and up; I asked ><).
