For what it's worth, mine has little to do with the character levels, I'd have had the same reaction if I started with easy sub. It was more the "there's nothing here for me" element, which is a little sad given how much I usually enjoy the variety Simulator offers.
I did a full clear just to see what it was like and see what my bracket looked like, since I really would like the PX yellow, but there's just no way in hell I'm going to be doing a deep grind on these. I can remember a few months ago when they ran Sim with good awards, you could finish first just by clearing normal, and hitting the hard essentials maybe 3 times each. I don't even think that'll get you in the top 10 these days.

Yes, this hard node is F*ing ridiculous, only completed 3 out of 6 attempts.. but you know what? It is fun as heck.

Totally agree! I love the challenge of crazy teams, sometimes getting schooled by Invisible Woman, etc. I won't win a Prof X cover, but I'm having fun along the way.

Seriously eff these nodes! Are you kidding me? Why should I have to take teams that are twice the level of the AI to defeat them? This is effing absurd.

I would agree if healthpacks were more bountiful. as it stands I have to choose pvp or pve because both now require health packs for me and unless it is a critical pvp push for a critical cover, no buying healthpacks for me. not sure what direction I'll go tonight because I would love to bring steve along, my mystique actually is much better covered right now. I'd love to see how here nerfed synergy is with mnmags - my mystique is almost playable now but wasn't before her nerf. we'll see...

actually I miss goon nodes. I found the ninja/maggia node on the hard side (#2 I think?) a bit of breather. thormneto works like a champ.

That is why you don't understand why people are complaining.

I am transitioning right now, so yes, if this were PVP i would have skipped that team.
  • so glad there's no pressure for this event. Hulk doesn't tank all his colors. Hulk doesn't get angry because his HP is too high......this is stupid.

Can't even get the 2,000 iso because the geniuses decided to take Hulk away from me

but it's fine - Deadpool daily will give me iso and I don't give a **** about captain america covers. And it seems like others aren't trying very hard either(or aren't able to)

Full clear took 1.5 hours (no wipes no health kits used, rotated teams). I used She Hulk on the Muscle node and stole his Threaten, doing 3k match damage a turn.

Luke Cage almost soloed my Spider-Man, Gamora and Falcon. We were both doing about 1 match damage a turn but his 13 yellow would kill one of my characters so I had to gradually whittle him down with Gamora.
  • Wow, I don't remember it being this hard. Even the normal has some seriously difficult nodes. Health packs taking a beating. I doubt i'll come close to finishing a hard sub.

Glad to hear it's not just me then... 1st clear I had to use all my health packs and all my guys were dead so I couldn't even try the hardest sub...
2nd clear I was a bit luckier with boards so I managed to save enough health packs to do at least the essentials in the hardest sub...

Prof X almost one-shot my nearly fully health Ares with his passives... crazy
And why do they always have to team up IF with some top tier characters ?? Luke Cage and Thoress last time and now Ares and Blade... why not Bagman and Quicksilver ? lol

It just shows how nuts Fist is.....and I still don't understand the thought behind sim hard even tho I've said it before:

hey, the players can barely do this, let's make the difficulty INCREASE over time!

What did I learn today in the Simulator?

That a near death Rocket & Groot that has been fake/burst healed by Kamala Khan to ~half health will still regen health when a yellow is matched.

Nice to know Rocket & Groot's yellow ability fires off their actual health rather than any temporary value.

me = annoyed with this PVE. icon_evil.gif
Really hulk bombing me on the hard node 2k iso reward. Luckily the achilles heel to this node is Hood with max 5 blue. So happy i got Hood's blue cover in DDQ to go against this team.

Who else was on your team besides Hood? I was almost able to pull this off with Thormneto, but at the last minute, Patch TBTI'd Storm down, Beserker'd Mags down, and then Thor got Hulk Bombed.

Edit: Never mind. DP Whales has got this.

    SUCK IT TREBEK!!

For the nodes that you can only play once, is it worth it to wait those out until the very end of the sub to max out the points? Or does that not really matter?

Those nodes only have one reward, but they ARE repeatable. The highest scorers will be repeating them every eight hours, despite the pitiful 20 iso payout.

Oh right! For some reason I had it in my head that was a One and Done node.

    Thanks!

I'm very sure the last run of Simulator there were One and Done nodes in both subevents. I remember being so relieved to see that red checkmark on the crazy node in the end.

Burned through 3 health packs just to clear essential nodes on normal before even starting any of the other nodes.
I'm up to Sim 4 and with everyone getting very beat up on each node, I doubt I'm going to have enough of a roster, much less health packs, to even start the Hard sub.
Though I don't need any of the placement covers (the iso and HP are always nice), I'm going to do what I can to help those in my alliance that need those Steve covers.
But seriously - tinykitty this tinykitty event.
  • Since I wasn't in the mood for experimenting I just went with Nick Fury + The Hood + Captain America on everything and did 2 blue/purple/red/yellow AP boost. Used 3 health packs I think. I'm sure I could've come up with something more clever but Simulator Hard isn't something I like to experiment too much on. Oddly enough, The Hood contributed significantly with his Intimidation since my team had a lot of powerful CDs that I want to resolve as fast as possible. Nick Fury would do his Escape Plan and then Captain America + The Hood would try to rearrange the board as fast as possible to ensure Escape Plan sticks around and once Escape Plan is on the board it's generally pretty smooth sailing from there. It looks like the node with Iron Fist is going to be hard just because Iron Fist is always hard. The essential with OBW + The Hood could be annoying too.

Hardest decision I've ever made in MPQ was on the Deadpool + Quicksilver + Invisible Woman essential, I had Deadpool down to 2K while the other were at full health (~8k) and I had a Demolition ready, and it seems like using Demolition on any of those guys is a complete waste but I had to pick someone. Ended up downing Quicksilver first because I didn't like his face.

I have to give props to the designers for this event. Lots of challenging matchups, but fun at the same time. It's almost like D3 is teaching us players how to team up the new characters effectively. icon_lol.gif

Yeah, I can't imagine how they ever dreamed up something like PX, Starlord and Dino

Gotta love it how out of everything we've posted in the past 2 months, that's the one thing they pick up and run with...

seems like in the past the essentials did not scale like the regular nodes. on the hard side essentials are scaling like everything else for me, which sucks compared to what I'm used to. just wondering if I was remember right or not. I also don't remember this event being so bad. but I have pushed Lthor high and am not using him so I was also wondering if that had anything to do with it but looks like everyone has crazy stuff on the hard side.

I always thought essentials did scale like the other nodes - it just took a bit longer.
If you leveled up LThor prior to starting the event then it does take his current level into account when calculating your base node levels even if you aren't using him.

My memory of previous simulators isn't exactly crystal clear, but I'm used to essential nodes being easier than the rest, and I'm used to having a huge advantage in those nodes if I have a good version of that character. This definitely isn't the case here. Also, why aren't you useing LThor? I'm using him everywhere but the essentials an the couple of nodes where he's locked out.

essentials are easier because a % of players can't access them, therefore cannot scale them.

Hard mode seems not to care, but it is hard mode, after all.
