Rant about the new powered ups

If 4* are not meant to be significantly better than 3*, why are they costing double price? In order to justify jump from 1250 to 2500 HP per cover they need to dominate, or devs need to cut the price for obtaining 4* cover and refund all people who bought them.0 -

I do not care if you cannot beat X-Force or Hood. You are the reason that you cannot compete in PVP. I really wish MPQ would stop listening to you. You obviously only try to game the system. When you decide you want to play the same game as everyone, you can start having a say.
He's in a Top 10 PvP alliance, scores > 1000 points per event, has a maxed X Force and 4* Thor and he has giant scaling in his PvE events as a result. He seems to be playing the game just fine.0 -

There were just too many people maxing out X-Force and not investing in any other characters for D3 to not change the game dynamic. There were even quite a few X-Force/Moonstones running around. I don't see how this rewards the new player (unless you're talking about IM35's boost). If anything, it rewards the long term player who has invested in all their 3*. X-Force still dominates the scope, and Patch isn't going to be boosted every week.
Excellent observation. D3 is clearly keeping an eye on character utilization, and everyone realizes that prior to the changes xf/goddesses was over-utilized, probably at the expense of sales of iso/hp/cover packs even. After all, if you had a max xf/goddess team, why would you need to level another character? Thus, I wasn't surprised to see the goddess nerf, and we all know xf is getting hit w/ the nerf bat sooner or later as well.
I think the changes are made to get players to spend $$$ on slots and cover packs, rather than to punish the veterans per se. In other words, it's about capitalism and seeking ways to increase revenue for D3.0 -

That's a really good question. I didn't say that 4*'s should not be significantly better than 3*s. I said that the dev's intent is not clear. They have recently made some statements suggesting that they want 4*s to be a slight bump up from 3*s, but not utterly dominating. Conversely, the Iso/HP price for 4* characters, as well as their rarity and extremely restricted placement/prog awards, all suggest that they are highly desirable. So are they trophies, or are they a new tier of gameplay to be developed (with 5*s coming in on top as the new trophy class for ultra-spenders)?
I don't know the answer to this, nor does the OP of this thread. That's why I think it's foolish to argue that these new changes are bad BECAUSE they undercut the dominance of thorverine.0 -

For someone like myself who wanted to try out a Cage/Fist PVP duo, I simply can't use the characters I actually WANT to play with in PVP. If I want to have any chance of success, I'm forced to select from a list of buffed characters, I dislike having my choice in who I want to play taken away from me. I'm not in a position to have a huge roster of leveled characters, so I have to choose who I want to level for both PVE and PVP purposes. If they are going to do something like this, then they should've just buffed everyone up appropriately so we can all get to choose who we want to use (instead of them indirectly choosing for us), at least then this doesn't lock out folks who haven't spent an entire year building their roster.
Well, you CAN use a cage/fist pvp combo; it's just question of timing. the best time to experiment w/ new combos is at the beginning of an event, when players are simply looking for the low hanging fruit, or in other words easy targets worth decent points. At the beginning of FA pvp, I've used IM35, Ares, and Jug, plus my second patch (under level 100). The best time to field your JV team is at beginning of pvp, so that you can save your top hitters for the latter portions of the event.0
