I ended up missing too much time due to work and sleep and stuff. I went to bed at 4am last night as usual, got up at 12 and went to work at 1. So I missed 13 hours of PvE time and a couple of hours of the new sub events.

I was aiming for top 50 because I needed one purple and one red to complete GSBW. Don't see it happening now though. Maybe a single red if I'm lucky.

Try. I've barely played, not even made a full clear on hard sim for the last sub, and I'm in top 50. Playing a few nodes makes your ranking jump ridiculously because no one is bothering.

its not that noone is playing its with the 8 hour refresh it pushes the scores closer. So if you going to play and put 2000 pts up its going to toss you higher then it did when there was 3 hour refresh. i mean im 105 right now and 100 to 110 is just apart by less then 500 pts so one 1000 pt nod will toss you 10+ slots

    The Simulator

first in line. with 2 days left out of a 4.5 day event i have 15k points. Unless stage 3 the points go insane or this will be the first final reward i miss.

You needed to do probably 3 optimals of each sub to reach the top progressive, not counting grinding down.
  • I have done some of my laziest playing in a pve in a looooong time and am at 30,596 with...20 hours to go. I've done no more than 2-3 clears of any sub, taken 5th in hard with one of those and am looking to finish in the top 100 with ease. Might even hit top 50. If I wanted to I'm sure I could hit the top progression, but

I think in this one the reason people aren't hitting it, is because they really don't want to. DPvMPQ was quick and fun and with a Fist cover people made sure they got there. Sim is still fun enough, but the rewards aren't worth grinding for a lot of players, and we now know there's going to be a 4* release coming in the next few days, which will certainly take some grinding. I'm enjoying the "break".

3 clears and played a few nodes more in first 2 subs. Last sub, less than one clear to hit it.

You pretty much got to play sim hard to hit the top progressive. That is why the subs were 36 hours because it takes more work/health packs than other pves.

Why is this event hard to hit top progression reward: it is hard and not worth the effort for top tier players who push points for rubberbanding.

Personally I play for ISO, but even that seems not worth it in hard mode when I am likely to wipe if the AI gets any cascades. It's not fun and not worth it for many players. With less players there is less rubberbanding, making it harder for everyone to get top progression.

I find this fine since more low tier rosters are getting rewards because the top tier don't care about Punisher. My 2* alliance is killing this PVE.

I'm at 93k hoping to hold on to a spot on the top 2. The Goddess is all i need from this.
Seeing many of my friends comfortably holding top spots with 60k or less makes me a little mad at the brackets i get at assigned to.
Playing well obviously means they only make it harder for you.

Most definitely not a lot of people playing hard, or at all. I placed top 5 and top 10 normal and hard, respectively, in the last sub having only swept each once and then grinding about half each at the tail end. Pretty much didn't play either one at all. This morning, I cleared a single node on the hard sub which landed me #56. 6 hours later...still #56.

Didn't play the hard nodes at all, except to reach the big ISO node in the top left, and I just cleared the last progression. Basically playing half the event. So I'm not seeing where the problem was.

I'm going to hit 25K today, but will not be able to hit the Max progression reward. I'm able to clear the Normal sims pretty regularly, but I can barely make a dent in the Hard subs. I'm only able to hit maybe 1 of the essentials in Hard before I'm wiped and out of health packs.

I don't know what's different, but I'm not able to get as far in Hard subs as I have before. I do have more leveled 3* characters but I've only leveled them up to 95.

The other thing is that in the Sim events in the past with 3 hour refreshes, I could clear normal sub more frequently so not being able to fully clear Hard wasn't a problem. This time with 8 hour refreshes, you HAVE to clear Hard Sub multiple times as well as Normal in order to hit Progression rewards, and that just isn't happening. This is an event where the 8 hour refresh has hurt me instead of helped me.

I was against 8 hours at first, but I've grown accustomed to them and they haven't hindered my PVE progress before... until the current PVE.
  • I have no chance at all...but that's on me since I haven't played but maybe 20 minutes of the event. I hate pve but this one was even a bit more unpleasant for some reason.

I'll echo that sentiment. Some of the lineups in these nodes are just brutal. That essential with Storm, Cyclops, and Wolverine? Good god, that gets ugly fast! Better keep Cyke the hell away from yellow or yo'll be sucking down Adamantium Slashes for days. Even Wolvie's 4* edition feels the pain when those bad boys hit for upwards of 6000 a piece. Ouch. Managed to take Wolvie out of the equation? Don't worry, those Optic Blasts don't tickle either. Oh, and by the way, Storm's been gobbling up blue so you can have a nice 3000 AoE to think about while your last remaining guy gets the snot beat out of him for 4 more turns...

I reached the last progression reward without a huge amount of effort. Did average amount of clears on the Normal node. On the hard nodes, did the Essentials and the path to the big ISO bonus, but left the other three nodes alone. If there were easier nodes did them a couple of times. Overall it has been nice to have a lower stress PvE. I'll get top 50 (I do need that Purple GSBW cover to respec her properly), so I've enjoyed this one. It's been much better than going to sleep and dropping 100 places by the time I wake up!
  • Simulator has tended to be a question of scaling over grind. If you can clear the hard sim nodes then the final progression is a breeze (I have barely played each set of subs(certainly not bothered clearing every 8 hours), not done a final grind of any description on any of the subs and I could still get the final progression with 10 hours to go at the end without too much effort, maybe just over 1 clear of everything..). On the other hand it is probably the most visciously scaled event bearing in mind it is chock full of heroes including a few that are REALLY nasty when scaled.

When there were 2:24 refreshes I would have argued that having a PvE determined by difficulty rather than grind was refreshing... not sure what the argument is for it now icon_e_smile.gif. I would however say that, if it is scaled such that 2*-3* transitioning folks can't get to the Punisher cover, it's over the top.

IMO it should be possible for those guys to get the 3* progression cover with a moderate amount of effort because it's an important transitioning boost in a part of the game that SHOULD be tailor made for them. Maybe Simulator isn't working like that with the scaling? Hard for me to tell cause my roster can kill basically anything... so even with the scaling making me face really high levels I can't extrapolate if the fact I can still clear them means a transitioner in the same position could...
  • I finished 68th in my bracket and didn't even reach the last two Prog rewards. This is the first event that I can remember where I didn't exceed them by at least 50%. Judging from my placement and the posts here, it seems I wasn't the only one having this issue.

I could have played a bit more over the weekend, but with how hard the hard nodes were, most points would have come from the Easy node and most likely would not have amounted to enough to hit the last prog, let alone my "normal" finish.

(My normal finish would have had me at #1 for my bracket)
  • I woke up on Sunday morning and had less than 16K. I re-checked the rewards and decided to play a little harder. Now here it is midday Tuesday, my slice ends in about 12 hours, and I only need about 7K. Managed to snag top 5 in easy & top 50 in hard last round. I should have no problem doing the same the final round, will get the Punisher cover & land somewhere in top 100 for the GSBW cover too. Not impossible.
  • I barely played the first 2 subs and only had 14K. WIth 12 hours to go, I am up to 37K and will cruise to the Punisher cover.

As an added bonus, I have gone from 130th to the 18-23rd range and will get the 13th GSBW cover (purple) that I wasn't even trying for.

I am currently top5 in both subs, so I had to work a little bit in the 3rd subs, but I also chose to ignore the event this weekend and only clear nodes 1 time in the first 2 sets of subs.

As for not having the essentials available, Punisher was only required for the first set of subs. Mags (2 or 3 star versions) was required for the second and MoStorm for the third. Since you could use MNMags and since they hand out MoStorm at least once every season, these should have been accessible for most players.
  • Only got to 18,000 this event. DDQ and weekend events took away from my PVE time. Fortunately I just pulled a redflag.png Punisher from a daily drop Heroic token. Got it in a round about way regardless!

Admittedly, Ima have a hard time with this one as well, and I have most of the required characters, as well.

Overall I'd much rather have a PVE where you at least have to try to get the final progression. Makes you feel like you are playing for a reason as you get closer to the end. The PVEs where I'm over the max with 3/4 of the event to go and am just mindlessly grinding for days with no progression left to maintain placement in the ranks and my spot in my alliance are the ones that need adjusting.
