How well should a 2* roster do in PvP?

Just curious to see how well you guys are doing with 2* rosters?
I can usually get to 500-600 pts in an event, but I don't use shields and usually finish in the 400-500 range - typically just outside the top 100. I feel like maybe I should be doing better, or is this then norm?
I can get 400 points in about 90 minutes, so recently I have just been joining the PvP events 90 minutes before they end, hoping to get a relatively fresh bracket. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I'd really like to be in that 600-700 range more consistently though without having to rely on a weak bracket to do it. Is there something I can be doing differently, or do I just need to get further into the 3* transition?

What you're experiencing was just about the norm for me when I had a 2* roster. So it sounds about right.
Back in those days, I would tank any PvP that didn't have covers I wanted and finish 400th or so. End result was when I DID want the covers, I ended up in a very soft bracket and was able to finish in the T5 several times (though never in a row).0 -
From my experience, consistently more than 20% of the user base participating in each PvP and not placed in extreme newbie brackets have a significant number of leveled 3 and 4 stars. Perhaps a third of players in such brackets, though this is virtually impossible to check with the present interface.
It is possible for a 2* player plugging away and with a bit of luck to nevertheless fight their way into the top 20% for a 3* cover. But to do so, the 2* player has to overachieve, likely through Shielding. Or we can join late and find an incomplete bracket, where 40% or more of the players make top 100.0 -
i think your results are right on average. 450 points +/- has been seeing me right at the 125-150 rank. im not really pushing or shielding either just getting the 400 point awards and points for the season. one thing i tried doing was getting to around 400 before the final day. with about 4 hours to go push to 500-550ish if possible and see where you are (probably 75-80). shield at just under 3 hours. if you get to the final 20 minutes or so and youve slipped out of top 100, break shield and push, using boosts if necessary. it worked a couple of times for me, but its really aggravating and time consuming so i stopped. the competition is really stiff for every single cover, old or new, and with the dpd it seems too much effort for the result. good luck.0

The game has changed a lot since I was running 2stars into the 800s without shields (True Healing), so let me discuss where I sit and compare to you.
Currently, I run 13 cover characters at level 138 for 3stars or level153 for XForce and I can sit unshielded around 550. That is my equilibrium point. Depends on my speed, luck, and how much I want to shield for a final score, but 663 to 815 has been my range this season.
For a 2star roster, peaking at 500-600, with an equilibrium point around 400 sounds about right. If you want top100, you have 2 main options.-
Join late and hope for a weak bracket
Put a 3 hour shield on when you are at your peak.
I think you can combine the two for covers you really want. If a valued cover comes up, join around the 2.5 hour point instead of the 90 minute mark. Play to 300 and see how the bracket is. If you are looking at a 200 player, easy bracket, take an hour off and then push to the end. However, if your timing was bad and you are looking at a 450 player, hard bracket, keep playing until you peak (hopefully at 575 for the hp) and put up a 3 hour shield0 -
With a fully-leveled 2* roster I was able to get between 450-600 points before hitting the 166 wall, then getting slapped down to finish at around 500.
Realistically I would say 500 is a very good placement for a maxed 2* roster, which makes it all the more perplexing as to why the progression reward for 500 points is another 2* cover. More often than not, it's not needed and will just be recycled - so the reward might as well just be 250 ISO.
Demiurge, please take note of this and the "tell us you made a mistake" thread - people like the idea of getting something a little better for hitting 500 points, and it's not just the "we want more free stuff!" crowd talking - the 2*-3* transitioning community is feeling shortchanged by PVP rewards that don't seem rewarding.0 -

Hmmm, only problem with this is trying to hit that 4,000 progression for the season. I've hit it for the past 3 seasons I think and those 10-packs have really helped my roster.0 -
I've got a 2* roster with 3 useable 3*s (lvl 107 R&G, lvl 106 Hood, lvl 104 Hulk). I hit a wall of maxed or near maxed 3* teams around 350 points whereas I used to be able to hit about 500-550 points before I hit that wall. Very infuriating, wish I could do better in PVP.0

1000 in simulator is very reasonable for a 2star roster, which means you would only need 3000 in PvP, which is an average of 300. Going 500/200/200 every 3 events would leave you on target still.0 -

I actually have some 3*s as well, 115 Mystique (3/5/2), 115 Hood (5/5/2), 115 Storm (4/3/5), 115 XF (3/2/3), and 104 Hulk (3/1/4).
Sounds like we need to try tanking. That is - lose on purpose for a couple events so that we get weaker brackets for an event that we want to do really well in. I think after I hit 4000 for the season (probably during this current sub) I will tank for the rest of it and see if that helps when the next one starts.0 -
For me, 300 routinely, 400 almost routinely, 500 if everything really falls into place and it's a good featured char. I use either OBW/Ares or Mags/Storm.
I've begun mixing in 3* and 4* chars instead of just going with my go-to OBW and Ares combo, as some of those 3*-4* are better damage dealers, to see if I can push into the 500-pt range consistently. Specifically, I've got a 5-green (and nothing else) X-force at level 127. (Could push him all the way to 147 if I want, but I'm afraid of screwing up scaling profoundly.) I've been running him with R&G and the featured. Good team for getting things done quickly, and can challenge decent 3* teams even. Just pound away on green and x-force everyone down. So far so good, I guess...0 -
I hit the 4k mark last season with a majority 2** roster, so it's definitely possible! I averaged a little over 300+ each PVP event and did around 900 in Simulator. This season, I've consistently moved closer to 400 each PVP event (finishing with 300+ points without shielding), save 2, and should hit around 3300 prior to grinding the Simulator. I was able to finally start leveling my Hulk (5/1/2) right now, which has been a MAJOR help to provide me with another viable tank option. The fact that you're able to hit 500 points and finish with 400+ puts you WAY within reach of 4k by season's end.0

I've had a maxed roster beginning with the start of this season. I tend to peak at 440 points before retaliations knock me down to 300, and I usually finish in the 360-400 range, earning the placement reward. This is if I play the event from beginning to end. If I join late, I can get a bit higher and usually place top 100. The recent Cyclops PvP I joined late was the first time I hit 500 in a PvP, and finished ranked 60-something.
I hope I can repeat that in God of Lies, since the at 500 in progression rewards seems to be a one-time thing.0 -
Should get top 100 every single pvp. If you can't sprint and battle at end of event, gotta put up a shield.0

This would be true only if 80% of the playerbase was less than 94s. Try to remember what it was like to be at the level of the person asking the question.0 -
A 2* roster can not manage top 100 every time, even with grinding; it really depends on the event and timing. The 2* landscape has changed again with DDQ. You no longer see as many 2* desperately fighting for a 3* cover, so there is little fodder for the 2* roster to climb off of.
Getting the 3* 500 Torch cover in the Loki event should be possible, but it still seems pretty hard: probably need a shield.0 -

I was in their shoes not long ago. My time with a maxed out xforce is very small, maybe a couple of months. Before that I had a useable sentry for maybe a month before he got nerfed so I was in 2 star land just 3 months ago. I practically skipped the 3 star transition because after sentry got nerfed, I saw where the game was headed and focused everything on boosting the xforce I had. So I was just in their shoes not long ago. And I was placing pretty much top 25 with my 2* rosters which consisted mostly of mnmags and storm and when they got beat up I would throw in ares and obw for the stretch run and more difficult opponents...been doing that since season 1. So I don't buy all of this game is different now so it is harder, sorry it's just too easy to get top 100. If you can't do it, go to the tips and guide section and try to take in as much as you can. Surely TGT and xforce has changed the wall and it's harder at a certain point...but don't think sentry was any easier, it was a race to kill him before world rupture went off/supernova/or sacrifice cause the match would be over pretty quick. This new wall has a lot higher hit points but as I stated top 100 should be easily attainable, I could see top 50 or top 25 being a lot more difficult.
One added note, I don't know why my competition was more on par with my roster, but I had always thought because I literally had not leveled anyone except for 4/5 core covers that kept my placement with opponents more...reasonable. Even now I only have 3 maxed out 3 stars and xforce. I don't hit the wall until probably 600 which is comfortably in top100.0 -
I hit 6300 points in season 7 with a 2* roster. This might be irrelevant because i used to get 500-600 points in the last 45 minutes of an event (used storm/mnMags) and got 1500 points in shield simulator (is that possible for a 2* now?). I'd. Recommend using hood as you have 5 dormammu's aid (i only have 3 so lucky you). 450-550 points seems about right for 2* rosters, but if you use a shield , you could get up to 600.0

you can crack top 100 with a 2* roster if you do it right. I wouldn't say every time, and certainly not without spending HP, but it can be done.0 -

thankfully the developers do believe the game has changed which is the precise reason for the creation of deadpool daily. they see that 2* and transition rosters are getting blocked out of top 100 in pvp because as the game ages the percentage of players with mature rosters (multiple 166s) has increased. once that percentage exceeds 20% (100 of 500) a 2* roster has to rely solely on a lucky bracket or push to get even one cover.if youve been playing since season one and you cant see the changes in the game relating to increased character releases and vaulting (which are the causes of transition difficulty), i dont know what youre seeing. go ahead and start using your 2*s to get covers in pvp now.0 -

So by your own words...a 2* roster has to rely solely on a lucky bracket or push to get even one cover...yeeeeaaaahhh...you're right, just hand out 3 stars,...ddq, heaven forbid you have to push to get a reward in a pvp competition. I'm telling you how i believe a 2* roster should perform in pvp, you don't agree, oh well, such is life, I tell you this because I lived it not too long ago, and placed comfortably in top 25 in nearly every event by "pushing". if it's too hard for you then I guess sit around and wait until the game changes for you so it's not so hard and you don't have to push or rely on luck.
Oh and I don't keep 2 stars, i sold all of them to feed my xforce.0
