This guy is the partner Mohawk STORM needs to recklessly chip away the team at 1000 damage at a time. Hahahahahahahaha. Laughing while he keeps creating black tiles
Actually if you drop a hailstorm he won't make a new attack tile if his old one happens to be blown up, because there are already attack tiles on the board. I think you're better off pairing him with a strike tile generator like Daken or Blade.0 -

Your problem with the game is a more general problem that vaulting was supposed to help alleviate, mainly with the difficulty of cover-maxing a character via tokens. I think most people would agree that D3 is pretty stingy about 3* covers. However, they do deliberately want 3* covers (especially for new characters) to be fairly difficult to obtain, so it's really a matter of finding a balance between player frustration (from not obtaining a cover) and player satisfaction (of obtaining a rare cover), while continuing to offer incentives for whales to dump money into. It's quite debatable how close MPQ is to that balance.
That being said, let's be honest, this seems like a move designed to bolster one of their bigger moneymakers, token sales (which I have absolutely no problems with), while throwing a bone to the lucky players that get IF. Adding IF to PS cover packs definitely does not detract from this event otherwise, and will boost player participation (which I'm sure also boosts token sales).
Again, I don't have any problems with the devs adding incentives for token pack buyers. I won't buy them, so it doesn't change anything about how I play MPQ.
We're pretty much on the same page here, and others have echoed my sentiment. Here's the big problem:seppethe2nd » Wed Feb 25, 2015 2:25 pm
2 42 packs no iron fist covers must be low rate
.7% probability is ****. One guy on here bought 2 42 packs and got zero IF covers. That's a travesty.
READ THAT AGAIN.
$200 bucks spent, to get 40k coins. It's 15800 per 42 pack, so this guy spent $150 and gained no ground with the new recruit. I'm going all South Park here, but freemium and pay-to-win shows its rear end in instances like this.
The least they could do it entice the whales and raise the probability in 42 and 10 packs. No one would be upset if the guys willing to shell out for 10 packs or 42 packs had 1.5 or 3% probability. ISO still remains a crutch, when you get covers upon covers.
That brings up the other whale in the room. ISO. ISO is equally hard to get when you get copius covers. You can throw out arbitrary numbers as to how much ISO you can grind in a week, but it would NEVER BE ENOUGH if you got more functional, usable covers.
If we got more covers, we'd have more incentive to buy more slots. What if we had a RED ISO-8 token that allowed for any single skill to be raised? Even if it was a once-per-character issue, I'd be interested. That's a .7% probability i can get behind. A new character deserves better than that.0 -
On the other side of the 0.7% coin, I just got Iron Fist green with my 6k Prodigal Sun token.
These odds are nearly as likely as rolling 18/00 when you have a Halfling thief. Of course, that's also 800 HP gone on yet another roster slot.0 -

Yeah, slight exaggeration for effect. I do that sometimes.
Which reminds me that I should give Baldur's Gate (I and II) Enhanced Edition another crack. If I can tear myself away from MPQ, that is.0 -
0.7%? Well, I guess there's at least a chance.
Of course, once upon a time, buying the 10 pack of covers (there was no 42 pack) gave you one of the featured heroes' covers guaranteed and nine other random draws. The rate of the featured heroes was also decently high. It was not uncommon to pull two or three of the hero that you wanted (one from the guarantee, the others from chance).
Something happened, a decision was made, and then suddenly you weren't guaranteed that one cover any more. To compensate for the lack of one cover they raised the chances of getting the featured cover. This wasn't as good but it still provided a decent chance of getting the featured cover.
Then they dropped the chances of getting the featured cover and introduced the 42 pack.0 -

I disagree with this statement.0 -
I got over 100k in the last event, it only earned me top 200. So that isn't true. Luckily I have another account that plays a little easier, won't make that mistake again.0

I really don't understand what incentive there is to buy cover packs. I spent over 1 million HP on cover packs (on my sandboxed Steam account) before finally getting all 3 covers for Iron Fist. I got like 15 Thoress covers in the time I got 1 Iron First cover of each color. Not to mention about 100 Hood covers. There is literally no incentive to buy these packs. Who is buying them? New players that don't have any covers to worry about getting extras are the only possible people that could get any value out of them.0

@ronin-san
Yeah, you have a good point. Token packs feel pretty darn evil (except perhaps the Anniversary packs).
D3 claims that reducing token odds and removing the featured character from a guaranteed cover from packs actually ended up earning more revenue than before, a fact that makes me really sad . I imagine D3 making the bulk of their extra money off clueless kids that don't really know any better. Like all those sad old people in casinos.
Let's just say that if I was in charge of pricing, I'd make iso packs and token odds to be much more rewarding, to the point where I'd be personally tempted to buy them as an alternative for the time spent slogging through a PvE.
Hard to argue with the cold hard facts of $$-dough-$$ though.0 -

I did the same experiment (just the one attempt) with about a dozen worth of , one of which is & no Definitely not worth investing with your saved up0 -
The logic doesn't add up when saying "It's deceptive towards new players to have the featured character have a 0.7% chance of pulling."
If anyone lays down $100, or even $10 on a game where they don't understand the mechanics of the games draw rates then that person probably has no business spending the cash in the first place.
The draw rates are available, maybe not obvious, but albeit available.0 -
for the typical player, new characters are just obnoxious. i look at luke cage as an example. i managed top 50 in his release and picked up the progression in his essential event, giving me a whopping 1/1/1 cage. until the dpd he hasnt shown up since except maybe as a high up pvp progression. they are doing this with every character. i have a three cover cyc, a three cover squirrel girl, ill likely have a three cover fist and then what? down the frickin rabbit hole theyll go to be back burnered by the next new character that everyone will go into a feeding frenzy over completely forgetting that guy from two weeks ago.
this game has the uncanny ability to make you think you have to get every award in every event or youll just never get them. i admit to that compulsion early on and the number of roster slots i have is testament to that. thankfully ive never purchased token packs but i do feel for those players newer than me who fall into the compulsion trap. this is just another trap and i dont blame d3, maybe they think theyre doing people a favor who cant get top 150 by giving them a chance at having an IF at least as an essential for the next event, but the odds are never in your favor and i for feel for anyone who dropped cash on tokens thinking they had to to keep up.0 -
Due to this game's emphasis on having max covered characters, most characters, even very powerful ones, aren't very useful until you have their covers maxed. You could be a transition guy and if D3 decided to give you a 3/3/3 X Force and Thor (4*) for free, that's pretty much exactly not quite enough to do anything interesting besides maybe leveling them up to 180 and kill your PvE scaling while hoping your PvP opponents are too stupid to check the ability damage. In light of that it's hard to see too many successful impulse buys opportunities.0

Love Iron Fist. Looks like a great addition. However, I have to say that it's hard to believe no one (that I saw) mentioned ANYTHING about the title of this posting.
I mean, come on. Iron Fist in Prodigal Sun... was that hilariously inappropriate by design, or completely by accident?0
