  • The change wouldn't affect PvP much, because most of the players would not have this cover yet. So the real question should be why HE WAS UPDATED MID PvE EVENT?
    And the best way to introduce this update would be like it was done with Loki: by doing an event with a new cover as a reward first.

    DOOM'S reasons for what he does are not for the likes of you to fathom. You would have DOOM follow in the footsteps of that mewling simpleton loki like a puppy follows its owner looking for table scraps? DOOM thinks not!

    Hmmm - what could be very cool is to team Doom with Patch (yeah - I know "Doom needs no one but Doom!").
    With Doom dropping trap files every turn, when Patch goes all berserk then there will be no free purple tiles to put enemy strike tiles. Basically you get Berserker Rage with no downsides with Doom fueling purple traps!

    Plus icon_doctordoom.png + 3* icon_wolverine.png = taste the rainbow!

    The best part of that combo is that it works with a single purple cover, since more covers don't affect the number of traps in any way, and you'd still get good damage from spending the 10 AP just because it'd tick all the green strike tiles.

    Anybody think Demiurge is making a deliberate attempt to give Patch more dance partners lately as a way to swing the pendulum away from All X-Force All The Time?

    Muahaha, my level 140 Doom finally gets to come out and play. I knew this day would come. Just get me a purple cover so I can rock and roll!

  • Looks like another quality character upgrade in Doom, much like they did Loki. Now if they can get Rags right, that would be REALLY cool... Doom and Rags have been on my bench so long I have to pick the cobwebs off to find them...

    2) As with all traps, enemy abilities have the opportunity to overwrite a trap because they don't know it's there. Friendly abilities should not.
    A little bit off topic but in regards to the "Friendly abilities should not" part, does this apply to all characters? I know for a fact that Ms Marvel's yellow ability that creates TU tiles will overwrite her very own Black Sonic Boom CD tile. This was frustrating in the last PVE where I was afraid to use it in the wrong order for fear of my Sonic Boom getting over written.

    I'd bet yes they do considering the behavior of every other trap tile we've encountered.

    No, it doesn't overwrite friendly traps. I put an example of this in the doom character discussion using fury as a doom proxy. This is the same behavior we've had with daken/blade and DD - only tile destruction or abilities like caps that specifically overwrite any tile will destroy friendly traps because from your perspective they aren't "basic" tiles. Tile conversion abilities like thor's will change the color of a trap tile but won't destroy them.

    Obviously, it would overwrite enemy traps just like you overwrite enemy DD traps with daken now.

    When is the last time there was NO event going on? And if that ever did happen, how much would you enjoy the game given you'd have nothing but prologue missions to play?

    I think I'll actually have no event going on after 10 pm tomorrow, since my PVE will end at 9 am, my PVP at 10 pm, and my slices for both the next PVP and PVE will likely not start until the next day.

    I'll have like 19 or so hours with literally nothing to do. I'm strangely okay with it.
    And regardless, it's much better to have changes hit waaay in the beginning of an event, rather than the last day (and change).

    It's the principle of the thing. "there's always an event running" is a cop out. This is a thing they always do, IIRC I predicted this would be their response a day or two ago, and there are clearly more natural break points between events, even with time slices. Doing it tomorrow would be after the sim, and pretty darn near to the end of CA as well, and still early enough in the events that come after to not matter much at all

    It depends on how you look at it. That one node was responsible for probably between 60-75% of my points in the last hard sub.

    I don't really understand any of the complaints about most mid-event changes. First, like they said, there are always events. But second, it's something everyone has to deal with. What they need to do is force a game update so you can't play without the new changes. Then everyone has to play by the same rules. If the rules change mid-event, at least they change for everyone. How is that unfair? The only time I thought a change was bad timing was when they announced the shield cooldowns. This would give an unfair advantage to those who "abused" shield hopping in previous events. And what happened? They postponed it because it would be unfair.

    This is potentially a MASSIVE buff for Patch's Berzerker Rage if it doesn't overwrite Doom's traps. What better way to negate the negative?
  • In the interest of sanity can we just get the little "trap disarmed" thing when we match3 purple instead having the power pop up three times? Or even nothing at all becuse how would YOU know if you defeated Doom's diabolical plot and not an ingenious fake red herring plot?
