  • Apologies to the people I smashed on the way up. I think I hit phantron at least 8 times, if you were shielded around 1900? Finally stopping at 2050 with a 300 pt lead, though I don't care if I hit that top spot.
  • Funny though you guys are getting in the 1000 + but in the last hour I'm currently at 360 points and i'm in the top 100.

    So you see how many people are able to get high end there. I sure as hell can't already, with the nerfs coming I wont even get this high even anymore. -.-;
  • Varies bracket by bracket, currently my bracket looks like this:
    Top 5
    2102 s
    1844 s
    841
    714 s
    662 s
  • Phew, Managed to reach 1800 with one hour left. Currently ranking 4th and no.1 is at 2125 no.2 at 1951.
  • Mind you the only 2 I can use is a maxed wolv and a 77 thor. And for some reason thor does more damage than wolverine so can't use him to tank hits anymore so pretty much screwed on that aspect. All the rest is low level so. Even though I've been playing this for a month now. Have to use healthpacks almost every battle. And they're gonna nerf stuff even more? Meh screw that.

No worries. I was content to shield at 1850, but 2nd place started a serious charge and I had to boost to hold them off. They finally shielded at 2005 and I'm shielded at 2255. Anyone making a final push can feel free to farmyourpath.
  • I'm pretty sure everyone ganked someone repeatedly to get to a high 1000s score. I know I attacked a guy like 15 times because I knew he was shielded.

Getting past 1000 is really a threshold thing. Once you get past it, you start seeing a lot of shielded opponents, which means you don't have as many retaliation. I was posting in another thread that shielded opponents should be slightly favored to show up at the lower rating (assuming any exists), because the 300-700 point range is just brutal.
  • I hit 1600 but got hit so many times on the way up that I gave up trying to get to 1800. Too bad because I don't have a single Yellow Invisible Woman cover. But here I am getting my 5th green.
  • I wasted something like 300-350HP for shields during the first Smash hit round. But it was worth it: eventually I got to 1600 points, won 2 Hulk covers and placed on top5 in my bracket thus getting also 3 Punisher covers. In that sense it was a good investment. In general the option to shield yourself works in favor for everybody. Devs get money, you get to keep your points for awhile and the overall point pool rises allowing everybody to try to reach for higher prizes.

I'm gonna tank now for awhile. And maybe later if I have the time I'll try to reach for couple more Punisher covers.

Doesn't anyone else get disgusted by the fact that you have to use a premium currency (no matter how much of it there is you can get easily) to make a broken system work? Now I have to use the HP I was going to use on cover slots to not get slammed for points, which should NEVER happen in the first place in a sound PVP system.
  • Using Hulk lvl 75, Logan 85 and Black Widows, I was able to win in my brackets. Tried to reach 1200, but ppl started to attack me and finally I shielded at about 1066. Not to mention that my eyes and right hand started to ache. Almost like during porn watching marathon.
Finally got ****Logan, so only Loki and Rag left for a full rooster. Punisher is next on my leveling list, currently at 33, with the covers I won he can get to 69.

I swear I might agree with you, except I made it to 2100 points without a shield. Git hit a total of 4 times in the 3 hours I actively pushed, and only twice after I stopped at 2100. I suppose the high level hulk was a huge deterrent.

This time I got a single hit while being shielded in the last hour. But that does not prove your point at all -- while still playing I was "expoliting" other people's shields. They stayed up without losing points while others attacked them, and didn't retaliate, obviously. Without shielding the top 10 would not have been 1000-1800 in my bracket.

In some other post I read experience that you have to pass a zone of resistance -- somewhere 450-620 for me in this tournament -- once you got upwards attacks fall back significantly and you get a very different set of opponents. I guess most of those I attacked have played up much earlier and were sitting there shielded. Once above 700 pts I had a steady climb upward. Stopped playing after the hulk cover at place 4 about an hour before the end and went to rest finally using the shield.

I played same team -- our bracket was different, first place sitting over 1900. I was targeting 1200 but then decided to climb ahead for the 1400 prize with hulk and stopped there at place 4. My Punisher is 41, I hope to log in in the evening to see arrival of a full set finally making him useful.

Extrapolating the line I guess next tournament will be centered on Punisher (and in few weeks one on Ares?), will be fun.
  • Ended up taking 2nd in my bracket with 2245. Someone passed me during dinner and I could catch up.

Going to see if I can't super thank this one even though I need the black hulk cover.
  • I started this event with 8 hrs remaining but I couldn't even reach 1200. For some reason, as I approached 1200 everyone I attacked when I was around 400 decided to retaliate against me. Each loss costing about -45 or -50.

It was too discouraging to push on and potentially lose more ground as the 1000+ point enemies might strike back, so I just threw up a shield around 1080 and coasted into a 2nd place finish.

I really do love the shields (as they are currently implemented). It adds another layer of strategy to the game and you aren't a slave to your device towards the end. Lot less frustration and agony.

Yeah, that is still too bad and could gain a fix. I only had a single guy yesterday in that category -- I fought him several times for increasing losses, before last lost 30+ to gain back ~15 -- should have passed there, then an hour later got a hit for 40 with chance to retaliliate for 1. Now that is ridiculous. It's not 'retailiation' at all, and I'm increasingly punished for doing actual fight while others sit back (or just stay behind for whatever unrelated reasons).

I had more success this time reading other forums on how to pick fights in the first place in this broken system -- practically meaning to keep skipping until someone with more points than me shows up. (pretty bad with the UI we have icon_e_sad.gif -- there could be some selection preference up ahead). Those provide more points and more probably not interested to fight downwards. May even be shielded. And brake on my urge to retailiate in the first place, knowing that it is not a finishing the pair of transactions, rather an endless chain of vendetta.

Actually the last part could fix some of the inherent problems -- that way I would take whatever point leftovers back without exposing myself for yet another round of mugging.
  • I reached 1600 and never shielded. Finished first comfortably by over 500 points. If I had more time and wasn't focused on the The Hunt: Ares, I could have pushed for 1800 and gotten my first yellow IW. Still need that yellow. I have too many green IWs.
  • I joined at about 1d18h hours left. Pushed to about 600 which was when i found it to be a little bit of a pain to rise, up, lots of big teams to face.
Put in my tank team. Dropped to about 80.

About 9 hours before it was over, I grinded up to 1825 or so. Lots of big points at the start from all my retaliations so it wasn't too bad. I only got hit maybe 1-3 times during that grind. Was well in the lead by a huge margin, left my normal team in with no shield. 70 Hulk 85 obw wolv.

I checked again at 3 hours till it was over, this is when I anticipate more people grinding. I noticed someone pushed a ton to get just over me. I think I was around 1750 and this guy got up to 1850 with 3rd place being at 800. I pushed to 2100 after I noticed the prize was for 1 not 1-2 icon_e_wink.gif

I put up my only 3hr shield and waited to see if this guy was going to try to sneak by or not. But he had a shield up and was either sleeping or had just wanted 1800. Either way, came in 1st. Hoping to do it again for the new Hulk one, my hulks up to 81 now too I think that certainly helps deter people hehe.

I also tend to be a bit choosy about my opponents, to rise quicker I like to find 25+ point opponents, and sometimes those are easier than the 15-24 point opponents, all depends.
  • I might try in-tournament tanking this time.
