POLL: How would you rate D3P's Anniversary Week?

  • Great idea.

So they know with figures how we liked the Anniversary week.

I gave a 9. Would have given 10 if the PvE had not been Heroic Venom.

Voted 9. I like Combined Arms and Balance of Power as they give me the most opponent variety and ability to use much more of my roster. Loved the 20 person LR brackets and rewards (who wouldn't?) and playing with a useful Thor, but would have preferred them to be in the normal LR time slots, and felt that having the same featured hero over and over was a bit boring.

Loved Devil Dino as a special character. He's funny even if he isn't really a very good character, but more of a trophy to show you were around during the Anniversary celebration.

I also like having the tokens have some specials in them like the big HP and ISO rewards. I was completely happy to spend 50 HP every day knowing that I at least had a decent chance at a 3* cover or lottery ticket chance at good HP/ISO.

And since I was enjoying the special stuff and there was a sale, I was happy to plunk down some cash for HP (even though I didn't really need it). Just because MPQ has provided me so much pleasure and the team deserved to be rewarded.

    Overall, a great job.

Overall this week was great and I really enjoy it.
Moreover it was a welcomed change to the monotony of the usual seasons and PvPs

cardpack.png However I don't like Balance of Power (far less interesting than Combined Arms IMO) strike.png -1
cardpack.png And I was not very lucky with anniversary tokens strike.png -1

What? Did you say they're not responsible for my bad luck? Someone have to pay though! icon_twisted.gif
  • 8 from me. Don't really know where I can fault it. But also don't really know how I can justify giving it 10.
  • 8 for me. On the positive side:

    - Great (generous) packs
    - Fun new character (Dino) without giving everyone an overpowered 'free 4*'
    - Lots of frantic action, really got the adrenaline going as we raced for the 3k progression rewards
    - Brilliant lightning rounds with 20 people brackets. Too small to be 'the norm' but very fun
    - One of the better PvE's at the start, even if it was the 3rd time in a couple of months
    - A bit of variety with Comb Arms / BoP (although see bottom point)

    ...but:

    - Venom Heroic was a shambles. Roster was far, far too limited and even locked some people out completely. It's only saving grace was rubbish rewards!

    - Comb Arms and BoP was a bit much. One or the other would have been just fine. God I hate BoP...

All in all, probably the most fun week on MPQ since I started playing 267 days ago!
  • I gave a 7 for double Iso-8 and small brackets in the LR. I don't care much about the rest. Oh and maybe Balance of Power. That was fun too.

There was definitely something up with the Purple Devil Dinosaur cover - everybody I spoke to got more of those from the Aniversary tokens than anything else. Speaking for myself, I got 4 purple, 1 green.

That being said, I loved the distribution on the Aniversary tokens. It was amazing. I didn't get a lot of what I really wanted, but I got some. Actually, here's what I got:

    Ares 3
    Black Widow (Original) 1
    Captain America (Modern) 4
    Hawkeye (Modern) 3
    Human Torch (Johnny Storm) 6
    Moonstone 3
    ----
    Beast (Classic) 2
    Deadpool (IMD) 1
    Captain Marvel (Modern) 1
    Hulk (Indestructible) 2
    Iron Man (Model 40) 1
    Storm (Mohawk) 2
    ----
    Devil Dinosaur (Gigantic Reptile) 5

Total of 32 tokens - my distribution was pretty close to what they indicated as the probabilities -no more than 2% off at any level. Despite having to actually scrap a Devil Dinosaur token, I really can't complain. icon_e_smile.gif

I think if you were a top-end player, this week was very rewarding.

If you were mid-range or less, at least you got double ISO and the small number of extra tokens you got were at least 2* or better, with a higher chance of a 3* than ever before.

Having a sale for everyone (instead of targeted sales) was much nicer, too.
  • The overall "grade" for the poll is 7.8/10.

    Not bad.

    Happy Anniversary Devs !

    Gave it an 8.

-1) LRs were a great compensation for the token mix-up, but still a mix up, and a poorly timed one given their offices were clearly closed for Columbus Day. Baffling that there isn't a QA person that's double checking these things before release. It certainly benefited a good portion of the top users (read: forumites), but I'd bet there are a lot of people that missed out on extra lottery tickets.

-1) Heroic over Gauntlet, an event that certainly would've won facebook polls had it been released in time for those polls. I know they only announced one event, but at some point common sense has to prevail.

Otherwise, everything about this event was personally great. Incentive to finally dump my ISO reserve and kick the 2* habit. 3-player team events (even if all the 270s make your head hurt after a while). Anniversary tokens. Double ISO. Extra grinding that somehow still felt like a break from the regular grind. Just really fun.

    Good:
    Double ISO
    DP PVP
    She-Thor LR
    LR bracketing
Anniversary Daily Deal (with the extra pull options)
Token mix-up for CA causing LR rewards to be Anniversary tokens

    Bad:
    Combined Arms
    Balance of Power
    Venom Heroic
    Token mix-up for CA
LR delay (although it probably helped some people)

I dont think the double ISO should stay, but I would LOVE to see the anniversary tokens be the new standard for tokens. Of course I am biased as a I managed to pull ~6 DevilDs, 1x 600HP and 2x 2900HPs. =)

I gave it a very respectable and solid 8. Not perfect, but seriously, when is it ever gonna be perfect? The LR were AMAZEBALLS tho! Having a full covered Goddess icon_thor.png was awesome! Totally get to see how her powers work without limitations. Now, if they could just use that method for the PVPs going forward, I'd be super happy. The one cover loaners don't give you any idea of how a character works at all. It's just like hey, here's a stupid cover that helps out nothing! Enjoy!

Double ISO was a huge bonus. Leveled at least 3 people up to 166. Plus, I enjoyed Combined Arms and Balance of Power. I have a huge roster and it wasn't easy, but I had so much fun with it! Now, back to the grind and **** scaling of this current PVE......new story soon???? Please icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I gave it a 6. I enjoyed it for the most part but I feel the whole thing was slapped together and poorly planned.

    Things that were great:
-Deadpool PVE. This is the best PVE they've created with genuinely fun writing.
-Deadpool PVP with Dino rewards. The excitement surrounding this event was insane. Scored a personal high of 1911 points to grab 1st place.
-Anniversary tokens. I hope these get added for various events throughout the year.
-Double ISO. Finally felt like I was making significant progress in the game.
-Lightning Rounds for veteran players. Great way to see all of the abilities and get a feel for a new legendary hero.

    Things that weren't so great:
-How Devil Dino was rolled out as a limited edition character (shouldn't be limited or it should have been completely obtainable outside of tokens). Personally, my biggest issue with the event because it was the one thing I was most excited for. I feel that having them as rewards for The Gauntlet would have been significantly better and give out 12 covers to those who finish it.
-Goof ups and poor planning of events. There's no excuse for not testing these rollouts of events, especially with the amount of hype they created building up to the events.
-Lightning rounds for new players. While many of us vets loved it, I doubt newer players were able to win more than a match or two in each one.
-General flow of the anniversary week. Started out spectacular, then fizzled out and became questionable for 4 days. Lightning rounds helped at the end but I was already so disappointed by not being able to finish Devil Dino.
  • it was perfect until I drew 4 purple dino covers all from token. It was the same for all my alliance friends. Clearly this is just wrong.
  • 7/10

Good start, great end, lackluster middle.

I can't stand the Heroics, and the Venom one is the my least favorite of those. Combine that with the token mix-up, and the fact that while I enjoyed the heck out of playing using a powered up 4* Thor, the brunt of the LRs happened while I was at work, so I only got to play in maybe 5-6 and I only placed in 2 or 3.

On top of that, the fact that Ice said that if people weren't hitting the progression that they would reevaluate its placement and then never actually did was a bit disheartening.

Also, I think I'm carrying over some resentment at the fact that 4* Thor is only attainable as an Alliance reward feels like it's punishing us who don't achieve enough to join/be invited to one.
  • I rated it as average. Like most things MPQ, I adored many things about it, while also being highly annoyed by some decisions (and mistakes) they made.

PvE: Deadpool Vs. Mavel Universe - Prizes were nice, but it was just a repeated event, that was just repeated.
Heroic Venom - Positively Dreadful - Poor roster (from someone with atleast one of everything), tough fights, bad rewards do to error

PvP: Tex-Mex - Good rewards - Same old PvP (required to much shielding if you actually wanted over all progression rewards)
Combined Arms - Bad Rewards due to error, nice team variety but required a large roster (required to much shielding if you actually wanted over all progression rewards)
Balance of Power - OK Rewards - One of my least favorite events, as anyone can beat anyone, so shielding is required for placement.
Lightning Rounds - Super fun for me and many players here, I doubt it was super fun for 2* or starting players.

Overall: The idea of a mini-season was awesome. The progression rewards were set way to high (on purpose no doubt).
Red and Purple Dino's were given as Alliance Rewards. Green was only availabe via top 5 individual placement or tokens.
    Tokens continue to hate me.

I voted 8. Lost 1 point for the progression token mix up in the middle events and another for the roster in the Heroic.

This basically sums up my feelings. Would have been a solid 9, if not for a few fumbles along the way, but they definitely made up for it, otherwise, I feel it would have been more around a 7.

Thoroughly enjoyed going through DPvMPQ, though it was mentioned elsewhere and I totally agree, that if they're going to run it again, they should to include new characters for more meta jokes! icon_lol.gif

Lightning Rounds were a ton of fun. I got a ridiculous amount of ISO (I managed to max out three 2*s!) from these two sets of events.

Anniversary Tokens were spectacular, and I echo the sentiment that I hope they give them out occasionally still (maybe one or two as Season Progression Rewards and a few scattered in place of Event or Heroic Tokens --- maybe even put in as Daily Rewards? 30 Day, 90 Day, holidays?). I understand not handing them out like candy again, but it would be a nice and exciting bonus to see them float around every now and then.

Balance of Power is not my favorite event, but it's tolerable. Combined Arms is fun for a little while, but once you get decently far, it's the same old same old PvP (i.e. the same guys over and over again).

Last note is something I said elsewhere, about the whole Heroic debacle. On the normal occasions, I do actually enjoy Heroic Events, but I feel like they should not be used in events where something "special" is being given away, because certain people have an inherent advantage for no reason (versus, say, PvP, where people have an advantage by having a strong or diverse roster, which is earned or purchased). When giving out new covers, or when having a celebration, is no the time to hold these events. Additionally, as it's been mentioned, the synergy of the roster we got to use in this particular Heroic was atrocious - I would be curious as to how they decide these things.

As a whole, I completely enjoyed the event and I didn't walk away with any negative feelings towards it, but giving it a perfect or near perfect score just isn't accurate.

For me the lightning rounds actually got me wanting to play the game again. For the last 2 months or so I was playing 1 mission a day to get the daily and a couple more every so often, but the lightning rounds last week drew me back in. I hope they do them like that more in the future.

    I rated it a 4.
Suppose I'm a more than a bit salty after opening over 15 Anniversary Packs and ALL OF THEM WERE 2 STARS!
    Every freaking one.
They shouldn't have even had 2 stars in them to be honest. One week of extra crazy generous packs wouldn't have hurt their pocketbook too much you'd think.

As a result, I only have 1 icon_devildino.png cover, a stinking purpleflag.pngicon_devildino.png that I got out of the Deadpool PVP, which I barely managed to get.

I was pretty underwealmed after the first day. I was expecting more Dino covers to be given out after that 1st PVP event, but it didn't happen. This event should have 100% guaranteed all participants a greenflag.pngicon_devildino.png or redflag.pngicon_devildino.png . There should have been a Hulk-PVE-like community progression meter that awarded one during either the Deadpool PVE or the Venom Heroic.

Hell, that would have made the Venom Heroic not the complete joke it was. The worst Heroic roster I've ever seen (and I've been playing since January) , along with one of the worst reward sets as well.

The only saving grace was the Double ISO, and the Deadpool cover from the Anniversary progression (and even at that, it was blackflag.png , not redflag.png or purpleflag.png ).
  • I voted 9, but should have been around 8.5. I loved the LR. I was able to literally upgrade my Deadpool from level 40, to 166 and have level my XForce from 205 to 221. I hated Combined Arms and Balance of Power. Those are stupid PVP's that really benefit either the 1/2* players and/or the 3*'s that have wasted roster slots on keeping those guys around just for that event. I kept a handful of my 2* and 1 1* guy (Venom, but I switched him to Juggs for BOP). Maybe next time they have an event like that for PVP have one for 1/2* players and one for more heavily tilted 3*'s... Overall though, a great experience and the best week on MPQ I've had yet. Also I'd like to reiterate the amount of purple Dino's given out was ridiculous. I mean, if the % of getting all Dino Covers was the same, how come so many of us ended up with so many more Purple Dino cards???
