POLL: How would you rate D3P's Anniversary Week?
Comments
-
I'm hesitant to rate them collectively. Deadpool PVP was above average, I hated the other two PVPs, the Heroic PVE was a waste (though at least got us off of the "new characters introduced in heroics" train), and the LRs were fantastic.0
-
Overall it was 8-9. They gave 2x ISO and the drop rates on the tokens were really good.
This actually brings to light how bad it is normally. This should actually be the base standard. 2x ISO should be the new 1x and the drop rates in anniversary tokens should be how PVE and PVP tokens are normally.
The Heroic PVE sucked big time but I forgive them because we can't get everything right. Combined Arms and Balance of Power are fun but hard, which is fine.0 -
Better than all the previous anniversaries combined!0
-
I voted just shy of perfect.
Double Iso was cool.
PVPs were fan picks, which was generally great.
The initial token-reward mixup was a glaring oversight.
But, the funky GT LRs we got as compensation were amazing.0 -
I voted 8. Lost 1 point for the progression token mix up in the middle events and another for the roster in the Heroic.0

8 sounds right to me. The things that were good were great but there were some substantial unforced errors - Venom Heroic, Ragnarok rewards, the token mixup. But on the whole I had way more fun than frustration, and came out with a ton more covers than I started with, plus a good 100,000 iso in profit.0

They were going to have the LR's anyway. I don't think that anyone expected 20 man brackets, which were a great plus, but the expectation set was that all of the anniversary events were going to give anniversary tokens anyway.
The Lightning Rounds were great. They were a fun, quick, high-reward event. The entire week should have been that good, and it's a shame that it wasn't.
Communication was poor, which resulted in a disconnect between the community's expectations and the reality. Communication continued to be poor when this disconnect came to light.
Overall we got:
-A few DD covers that now get to rot unless you feel like paying 13 bucks per cover to buy some more
-Double ISO, which sheds a stark contrast on how slow the normal ISO gain is
-A great set of high-reward Lightning Rounds
-A slightly higher chance of good rewards in some of our tokens
Compared to the week-long bonanza that was so hyped, this came out pretty "meh". Thanks for trying devs but there is soooooo much room for improvement in every area.0 -
I voted 7. However, if they didn't have the token mix-up in Combined Arms I would have rated it a 5--the abundence of Anniversary tokens in the Thor LRs really improved the week overall.0

8 - it was amazing!
Here are some of my gripes with it that kept it from being a perfect 10
- LR's become monotonous being the same hero over and over again. This was a great idea but it got stale over the 2 days as well. Make Thor the featured character for every OTHER LR and give us a variety of featured characters for the other. For example: Thor LR, dino LR, Thor LR, boosted Moonstone LR, Thor LR, boosted Hawkeye LR, Thor LR, boosted bagman LR, etc
- The anniversary tokens may have been truly random but they felt suspiciously off. I was lucky enough to get over 10 dino purple covers and yet only 3 green and 1 red from tokens. That's still a LOT of good luck draws but unusual. Looking at my alliance roster I can confirm that within our small sample size...dino purple was overwhelming popular within the tokens.
- Double ISO causes more harm than good IMO. Assuming they take away this bonus (they haven't yet)...it'll feel really discouraging to play the game after the anniversary. This kind of bonus likely provides incentive for people to play more...but it only serves to show them how slow progression is when we return to normal. I've always felt this way about games that do similar double XP weekends and the like. I had no intentions to leave the game before...but once this returns to normal I'll be at an all time low in terms of motivation to get back to the grind now that I know how much better the game play experience can be.
- The PvP offer great variety but they are FAR too punishing. Balance of Power should NOT balance characters at level 270. It makes every battle a fight to the death and is a constant struggle even against seed teams. I like the concept of this pvp but I feel like the execution needs improvement and unfortunately I'm not exactly sure how to improve it.
- The other PvP had similar problems. Boosting 3*'s made the 1* characters feel like useless filler. As soon as you kill your opponents 3* the match is all but determined. This format needs to be better balanced. Perhaps something as simple as regular 3* with 2* and 1* boosted to level 166? maybe 2* boosted to level 150 and 1* boosted to level 140. I don't know.0 -
To many purple Dinos...0

Very average and underwhelming.
Token mix up in PvE could have very easily been rectified before the event ended, the token rewards for LR's had already been decided so that was no bonus.
The sheer number of 2* drops from anniversary tokens was almost a joke. Not one Dino cover for me but I could have almost built another Captain America.
Very unfriendly end times for EU players again! Knowing I cannot be active at the most important time of an event (last few hours) immediately makes me not to want to bother.
Double iso was nice, so yeah I will take a postive where I can.0 -
I'm glad I don't have usage tracking because I played a ton this week.
Tons of tokens (2 10-packs, maybe 40+ anniversary tokens) led me to have 300 covers to sell, for over 50,000 ISO. Netted just shy of 300,000 for the week, and that was with a pretty token-centric focus in LR... It could easily have been 350,000+ if I hadn't been trying for top finishes.
I voted a 9. The reward mixup, Rags covers, and Heroic roster was not great. Also: I got 12 and that is just silly at best, disingenuous at worst. I didn't get a single and that has to be due to a very uneven odds distribution weighted towards useless.0 -

Echoing my sentiments exactly.0 -
8. Marred by poor communication and management of expectations at the beginning, and the snafu with the events without anniversary tokens in the middle, but ultimately fun, rewarding and novel. Good job, and may there be many more!0

8 - I really enjoyed it and picked up some pretty good drops.0

From what Ice said, the mixup with the Combined Arms & Heroic tokens is the only thing that put Anniversary tokens into the LRs. So that mixup was pretty sweet for me. Played in at least 10 of them, took 1st in the bulk of them, and never missed top 5. And took away at least 100k
Probably close to 200k for the whole week, and quite possibly more.
For people who aren't super into LRs, I could see that being a point off, but for me it was quite nice.
Super enjoyable, I was even amused by the crazy scores in Tex Mex, and maxed out during the event. While Combined Arms and Balance of Power aren't my personal favorites, I realize that the "high end" players like us make up a small, small portion of the actual playerbase, and I'm glad they were run for the people who do enjoy them.
Oh, and... TINY ARMS!!!!!!0 -
I was unable to play much this week and missed Dino but overall it was fun, the double ISO was a nice thing for me, managed to lvl my LThor at least 30 lvls and made him usable now at 120. I lvled a litle bit some other characters with the extra ISO, so this anniversary week made my roster a bit stronger than before.0

Gave them a very solid 8.0

The most enjoyable week I've ever played.
Higher drop rate in tokens, at long last! Wish they'd keep that.
Higher iso numbers, letting folks level a bit easier! Wish they'd keep that.
Week long season with 4* reward for alliances! Wish they'd keep that.
Lightning Rounds with 20 people, and nice rewards! Wish they'd keep that.
Lightning rounds using the new character! I can take or leave that one in the long run- it was boring after awhile to use/face the same character over and over, but it was fun to try out a powered 4* I'll never get enough covers for.
I could live without the heroic PVE that wasn't voted on as a favorite, as well as the unexciting rewards that the PVE's gave overall. With that, I voted 8.
I'm hoping others had as much fun as I did this week, and perhaps some of these changes won't be temporary things.0
