So after bombing out horribly in the Deadpool PvP (~400pts, DP was 2/0/0), I figured that this event was my chance to make it back. I'm at peace with not getting that 10 pack, it's mostly that black cover for Deadpool at 1200 that I really want.

So far I'm at ~720 points in CA, so if your math is good, you'll see that I'm not that far off the 1200. Now I'm wondering how much further should I try and take it?
I'll be just over 800 in CA once I get Deadpool, and from there it's only a few steps to another token at 900. Then that LStorm at 1100 doesn't seem too much further, and I could use one of those. And if I can get that far, well, then there's a Purple Fury cover just a bit futher again.

Are scores likely to blow out in this event too? From reading the last few pages it seems that people are still holding off due to Token snafu. I assume this means everything's going to melt down into a Headbutt fuelled madness once everyone's committed.

    No.
There's no reliable way to shieldhop quickly with Sentry alone, so points will stay lower.
Besides there's no Dino at stake, I don't see people going for 2k+ for Rags covers when most of us are only 1200 or less away from our 3K tenpack.

There's still the "season" ranking awards, so the top players will probably still be pushing pretty hard to maintain their position.
  • One thing I can't stop thinking about is why would they give out Rags rewards in this PVP?

I am asking this not because he sucks, not because I do not like him, not because I do not have space for him. Apart from the fact that all of those are true, I remember the post of ElectroBlast saying that he is going out of the tokens in season 7 and will return in season 8. So, it is not as convenient to give out a character that you will discontinue for a while.

Will a Rags with ~2 covers be any usefull? Nope. Will a Rags with ~2 covers and no way of getting more for a month be any usefull? Hell no! I still don't get it.

PS: Maybe it's a conspiracy theory to suck Health Packs?
  • I suspect we'll see each of the pulled covers as a PVP to reduce complaints about the characters being completely unavailable, and that's why we're seeing Rags prizes.

Woke up +15 from going 3-2 defensively overnight. My plan is to get as high as I can, hopefully over 900, tonight, and shield for the duration. If I can get 900, I'll need to get less than 800 in BoP for the 10-pack. Wednesday end times are terrible for me, but the 10-pack is too good not to use a 24-hoour shield.

Agreed with Ben, expecting PVPs with the likes of Patch and Punisher in the next week or so. Which is great as they are my most covered 3*s and I'd really like them to be semi-usable sooner rather than later

I think it's because the bulk of the dev crew was away at NYCC this past weekend, and then off yesterday as it's a holiday, and or traveling back to the offices and unable to do much. I'm guessing that they meant to have the event go live with icon_devildino.png rewards, and anniversary cardpack.png tokens. Instead, when it went live there was a bit of a snafu and the old version from the last time it ran, was pushed instead. Since it's still a couple of hours before anyone is going to be in the offices, I'd bet we won't hear anything official about it for a little while more. Even then, since the event has already started and some people have gotten the tokens, it's likely nothing will be changed about it, but that maybe compensation will be sent out.

I think you can expect the opposite. The way I read it, the characters in the packs will be the ones more likely to get a featured PvP during the season. Ones that are out of the packs will likely not be rewarded until the following season when they rotate back in.

It's so the regular players won't sit there complaining about how combined arms destroys the game because they can't use 3 3-stars (yes I usually use 3 3-stars). Or because D3 knows everyone gets a little tired and burnt out after all deadpool.

Not sure if it was just people using me to tank (thanks if so), but I went 7-3 defensively last night, and the 3 losses were all forumites.

Hoping I can build to 1000, so I only need about 750 from the last event. So if you see me, skip or lose please! (I'm sure that will work well.)
  • sorry if this was already answeed, but anyone can share what is the best defensive teams for this PvP?

I'm currently running Jugg/OBw/Sentry and so far have 5 loss and 2 win from defensive battles..

I read somewhere people are saying Having Jugg kills Sentry's Defense, is this true? I can see Ares being great on the D side but to swap OBW out would be silly as all my attacker has to do is just deny red and green. So having ObW to cover all color aint a bad thing especially now that she is buffed. My other option is swapping Sentry for LDaken But does that scare anyone?

With Ares, they have to deny Yellow also. That's not as required with just Sentry, Sacrifice isn't terrible to deal with, Sunder hurts. Anyway....

See above for my defensive record so far. I'm running exclusively Juggs (Max) - OBW (Max) - LThor (234 boosted). I prefer this over Sentry (who i also have at 234) because their strongest defensive powers don't overlap. (Headbutt/CotS, as opposed to Headbutt/Supernova). So with Juggs/OBW/Sentry, you can really just deny red/purple and be relatively ok.

Having to deny red/green/yellow (Thor's yellow hurts), while at the same making sure OBW doesn't get rolling, is a pain in the tush.

From the offensive perspective, I've been mostly skipping max Thor and fighting max Sentry when I see them, FWIW.

It is probably not the best defensive team, but I have had decent success with LCap/OBW/MStorm. 3 wins, 0 losses on defense. It's a team that people look at and think it should be easy to beat, since there are two low HP support characters, but it has a number of powers that can wreck you if the AI gets them off.

Purple: Level 3 Recon can be a game changer
Red: SSA does 6400 damage per shot.
Green: Lightning Strike gains 14 AP plus cascade potential
Yellow: Can hurt depending on what TU the AI has, cascade potential
Blue: Heal to prolong the game or stun followed by a protect tile that eliminates match damage.
Black: Annoying as heck, but not that damaging w/o a strike tile generator.

interesting, I also have a unbuffed L130 Lthor I can try swapping Sentry with and see how that works.

thanks for your input, I just couldnt understand why Sentry is so weak as a deterrent by itself. Is it because AI tends to pull off red/green on Jugg and Sentry just feels like a tag along?
  • The AI is much more likely to use Juggernaut's powers over Sentry's, since Jug needs 2 matches, and Sentry 3, generally.

well I have to say swapping Lthor over Sentry (despite my Sentry is higher level) may be the right decision.

I just got a defensive win from beating a full 166 max roster player.

btw which of the following team would you rather skip?

    Jugg/Obw/Lthor

    or

    Jugg/Ares/LDaken

I wouldn't really enjoy fighting either of them, but I'd be more likely to skip Ares/Daken because it's less vulnerable to bombing. Either one can wipe me, but that team is going to eat health packs even if everything goes well.

(That said, my own Jugg/OBW/LThor team is now 5-0 on defense, so maybe they're scarier than I'm inclined to think?)

I'm looking at the 16k ISO i have and feeling seriously tempted to plough it all into my level 6 Jugg to max him.

For a PVP where Rags is the rewards

This is what this week is doing to me, it's messing with my head

If they're going with their first version of "Balance of Power," it will probably be well worth it. If he'll be maxed anyway... it still might be worth it.

I'm having fun with what I call my "All the Hitpoints" team - Juggs/OBW/Hulk. Sure, I can do better for HP in the 2* level, but this is a pretty solid defensive team. The upside is I can headbutt with temporary hitpoints much of the time...

well I am 1-1 since installing the same setup however my Lthor is only L230 buffed. I may have to try Jugg/Ares/LDaken and see if that is a better defensive setup. The only problem I see using Ldaken team would be sustainability since with OBW it can both steal me ap and stop the other team so Daken may drag my match out longer and I'll have to use health pack myself
