dam it my worse nightmare is here, I still think nerfing sentry is the wrong way to go, fixing shield hoping is
Best fix for shield hopping is to 1) lengthen matches to increase retal risk, and 2) not trivialize defense. Nerfing Sentry will accomplish both of those.

Just as a general reminder, please take any of these bits with grains of salt. Some of this info is spot on, other things are misinterpretations or a bit of wishful thinking. Anything we officially announce? Good to go.

Not going to close the thread for now though since it is a bit of excitement and has some great talking points in any case.

I hope it's not lvl 270, otherwise Devil Dino is useless.
I don't know if that's necessarily true. star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png characters are generally 50% strength at level 70 (ignoring health), which means his abilities might do 1256 damage at level 70, and 1884 damage at level 170, which isn't terrible. Not great, especially for the most damaging colors (red/green), but not terrible.

didnt they say Dino isnt X-force level caliber but for transitioning players may find him useful? I think Dino is a great 3rd character to bring to any party. Just not a main anchor (unless his hp is ridiculously high)

430K Iso to get a "transitioning" character is a tad expensive IMO.

It was said YOU gave this information. Lol

Completely unrelated, tell Hi-Fi thanks on my behalf. I gave him explicit instructions to smack you guys upside the head this weekend to get heroic token changes down off the whiteboard and into the code.

Also, I hope that the Sentry nerf isn't wishful thinking. Any chance you could clarify which parts of the thread are accurate?

Alternately, you could clarify which items are inaccurate. We'd be happy either way.

    Will do.

As for which parts are correct, we'll be doing some announcements in the relatively near future when things are ready. As you know, we don't tend to announce stuff until they're written in at least hard clay lest things change up greatly before release or get pushed back. We've learned a bit from our "We're changing Magneto and Wolverine (X-Force)" several months early days. icon_e_smile.gif
  • Since September things have improved a lot. Thanks for that.

Make sure October is as good as September (or even better) icon_e_smile.gif

It will be also more pleasant for all of you to read about your customers' satisfaction...

In order of what I hope is true, from "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE" to "sure, that'd be nice, I guess":

    1) Devil Dinosaur has a move where he waggles his tiny arms at the enemy

    2) Sentry nerf

    3) Ragnarok, Loki and Doom get new moves

    4) Other things about Devil Dinosaur

    5) Thor (Goddess) as RYB

    6) Cheaper ISO-8

The ship has sailed on that one for many I believe. I know I sold all my Sentry covers from the PvE and PvP already.

It worked out okay. The Magneto nerf probably needed a months-long preannouncement. He was *way* too popular for a sudden nerf.
Based on the number of X-Forces I'm seeing now, a lot of people had faith in the eventual buff. So that also worked out well. A sudden buff may have gotten complaints from those that sold covers.
Hawkeye also had a long announcement -- he could have been changed more suddenly. His new version is terrific.

Iron Patriot and Void are working out okay as long announcements. It might be disturbing if Void is linked to the Sentry nerf. Sentry wouldn't have the power anymore, and it goes to the Void, maybe even getting worse
      Void Rupture - 7 Green greentile.png
The Void consumes all Strike tiles on the board, fueling a universally destructive void. Afterwards, all basic tiles are turned into 3 Countdown tiles, doing 24+void damage to everyone but Void.
Level 2: Reduce countdown to 2. Level 3: Attack tiles also fuel the void. Level 4: Protect tiles also fuel the void. Level 5: 50% chance Allies don't take void damage.

      Devil Dinosaur

      Purple - Lvl 5 - Power Cost 3

Devil Dinosaur waves his foreshortened forearms ferocious moving a Black, Red , Green, Purple, Blue and Yellow tile to the top left of the board.

      That's cute icon_e_biggrin.gif
In order of what I hope is true, from "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE" to "sure, that'd be nice, I guess":

I could totally see that happening. icon_lol.gif

I think his purple is similar to what can Loki's Illusions do but weaker since Loki gets some cascades by luck or sets up some very nice matches. With DD lining all those colors side by side at the top left, I don't think there is a high chance of a cascade or a good setup. You can, however, use a skill like Hood's Twin Pistols to collect the AP from there or destroy the special tiles assuming he can move special tiles too. Tbh, that looks like a troll ability more than anything. Similar to internet trolls with short t-rex arms typing ferociously icon_razz.gif

Turns out I was right on --- his level 70 abilities with 5 covers do 1264 damage:

Wait! I though the whiteboard comment spoke to some long-term fix that required real coding, like crafting, or something.

      Was this the reality?
      1) Open Excel
      2) Change a few numbers
      3) Coffee
      4) Sleep (60x)
      5) Close Excel
      6) Add to code

I thought all the trivial fixes suggested by forumites were being ignored for so long for a good reason. I'm still a huge fan of recent improvements to MPQ, so I don't want to sound hateful, but please make easy fixes quickly and be more willing to hint that easy fixes are coming. This solution was really too trivial to be kept secret for so long.

IceIX talked about them bandying around other, more complicated solutions as a way to avoid vaulting characters. This would be them finally deciding that there's no magic bullet (other than raising the odds of 3* characters overall, which they are categorically unwilling or unable to do) and taking that way out after all.

We don't technically know if this is a long term solution; it is however the solution they gave us so that we can at least have new characters in packs. Additionally, they made it a solution that those of us who have been hoarding packs can actually make use of our hoard.

And statistically speaking, it's more likely to have been XML or JSON than Excel.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the fix. It was the idea that I liked the best, really. If it's a stop-gap solution while they work on other ideas, then I'm even happier.

In any case, you are absolutely right, we don't know what they are thinking. I like that there is a community manager now, but it hasn't changed their MO concerning forum questions. That's all.
