Boycott PVE until it is fair

These threads are silly. End times are all relative. Personally, I would love 1 am end times because I stay up late because I work swing shifts. Tomorrow the PVE ends at 9am, and I will not wake up early on a Saturday (or any day if I can manage it). If i wanted to continue to complain, I'm on PST so most events end at 10pm, and I work swing shift so I work through them.0

Personally, I think rotating end times or "choose your end time" are still going to have the same chaos during the last hours.
I don't think people are actually complaining about the end hours. What they are actually complaining is how to take the focus of these events out of the last hours and spread it throughout the event. I don't care if the event ends at 6AM, as long as I can do my gaming before the end and the time I spend is going to secure me some rewards.
An idea just popped in my mind. I just thought of it while typing this post, so go easy on me if I don't present a "complete" model.
We can have a PVP model where the number of attacks on a player are limited.
- You can be attacked 3 times (The number of nodes).
- After you are attacked 3 times you are "dead" and you are "recovering" for the next hour (Or two hours, whatever).
- When you are recovered you can be attacked 3 times again.
This idea gives players some breathing space. I don't know what the impact on shields will be. Obviously with this model there will be less shield purchasing. Like I said, I just thought of this thing.
However, the general idea is to kind of "pace" the attacks you get. This way, even if I have 8 hours left in the event, I will not lose 50% of the points I earned because people are most active in those hours.
A more simple solution would be to just put a maximum number of points that can be lost while you are inactive. But then shielding will completely lose the meaning of it (Although shield hopping will still be going on).
Times are not broken. In many games we have events that end in times that don't suit us. However, those last hours of the event are not the ones that determine the winner.
I could go up to 1300 points on day 1 and that would secure me T10 in most cases if I stay shielded. This is a tremendous effort to put in the game. I should not drop to 500-600 points if I decide not to play anymore in the event until it is over. I should at least be able to secure a T100 position (Depending on my bracket) with such a score.
People do not lack the desire to play this game. Most of them just live on the "wrong" side of the planet. When you cater for the whole globe, you have to make the game non time depended. Give us reasons to play before that last 5-6 hours time frame!0 -
There is a fairly simple solution. Bracket people solely on roster, turn off rubberbanding and node refresh. Have nodes with a set amount of points per play, every time you beat it and come back it's harder, you'll get to the point where it would be impossible, you can even turnoff boosts. Essentially this would remove the time requirement as everyone would have an equal chance, basically it's the Gauntlet, but with the ability to get points by replaying the event.0

Hi all,
Jumping into the discussion to let you know that we are aware that event end times for players outside of the US are not ideal. We feel this is a huge issue as well and are actively seeking solutions that will work for the entire player base.
I know sometimes it seems like simple solutions are available, but in this case, the problems that need solving are not trivial.
We are listening. We are actively seeking solutions. We do not yet have an ETA for the fix. Please hang in there.
Actually if the main nodes in the last 12 hours of this current DA Heroic pve were not repeatable, then alternating this format with another format for every other new character would be a lot fairer to different time zones. It would not be perfect, but it seems it would be a big improvement.0 -
MMR and Rubberbanding are why differing end times won't work.
So long as everyone is in the same pools the last to finish will have higher scores.
Every ... single ... time.
You may say it won't matter with different brackets but progression rewards matter. So does the 10,000 HP split among the top 2 alliances' members.
Until you put up a MMR and rubberband wall, different end times won't work.0 -
Slide start times along with end times so everybody has the same length of time to play, and rubberband based on the points leader in each timeframe. Ta-da.0

I'd hate to be in an alliance where the majority of members time frame leader was 30,000 off another time frame. Good luck getting top 100.0 -

Not really that simple unfortunately. I had this exact same thought literally half a year ago, Demiurge_Will shot it down: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3492&p=56141&hilit=scaling#p561410 -

If they completely separate the time divisions - if there's say three or six end times and thus three to six player pools - they solve that problem (and others) pretty much immediately. I think that there's a general assumption that this is what they'd do.0 -
The issue is far worse for me than 1am wake up. As an Australian all new characters PVE end for me at 2PM on a Tuesday. I have a hectic work load and can’t take off 9am and 12 am to do one last clear of the nodes. Because of my hectic workload I have explained before that I have spent over $3K so I am exactly the target whale D3 want.
Every event I go from 1st in all nodes to 300th+. Sometimes because of this silly rubber banding I get beaten by double my score. Seriously someone explain to me how I come first in 4/ 6 sub events and can come 300th. The only access we have to new characters is through buying a random chance in a 42 pack, but I have also said in previous posts, I have twice bought 2 lots of 42 packs with 42 X 2 star characters, so what part of this whole mess deserves more of my money? I’ll give you the inside hint: absolutely nothing.
But let me tell you now, I’m not competing in any PVE, Im not spending money on new character 42 packs –to catch up with people that may be far worse players with worse rosters, but have the gift of a new character because they live in the USA.
From now on I’m sticking to your silly business model of play for an hour till your health packs run out then log off for 3 hours. And let me tell you there are far more interesting games out at the moment that are starting to pique my interest, in those 3/4 hours and I am literally one foot out the door. The worst part is getting internet trolled by the same community that are all here for a common purpose which is we all enjoy: this game. We may have nothing else in common but that one thing brought us all together, but getting trolled by people that probably don’t have my roster, have never spent money on your game but DO live in the USA and come out with these lines like; just wake up early, or play better, play smarter, play more nodes, spend money on HP to do another clear, I've been playing longer than you. All these are completely irrelevant to me, because players that live in the USA can double my score in the last few hours of a 3 day event.
Not having the new character means I also won’t be spending money in your next PVP which presumably features DR Oc, on HP or shields or levelling up Dr Oc, or buying new covers for Dr Oc. Why would you leave money lying on the table like that?
Also I'm not getting kicked out of my own alliance, but the 19 new players that are in it will probably get jaded when I stop carrying them to decent scores.0 -

On end times: The OP is not wrong. It's pretty unfair to anyone outside the US to have to play for US timezones. The easiest fix is to just have 2 events concurrent (you can only join one) with end times staggered by 6 hours. Pick when you want the event to end, join bracket, go go go. Simple.
Technically, that's not true. I live in Asia, and the end times are okay for us. I'm not saying I don't sympathize, but it's not like "everyone outside the US is screwed." Everyone 12 hours away is okay. Also, even if they did your suggestion, which sounds okay, people would still complain anyway. "Why 12 hours and 6 hours? We who live in the middle are screwed." Plus, I think people would start trying to figure out which event has fewer people and try to game it that way. Good idea, just some thoughts.0 -

So those of us without a maxxed out roster don't have a shot at a high place finish just like PvP?0 -

So your end times are 2pm or 2am. All events for me (east coast USA) end at 12/1 am or 12/1 pm. So with all due respect how do I benefit from the afternoon end times more than you? I also work, have a family, etc etc.
To be clear I acknowledge there is a problem with end times. I agree completely. A few have it the worst, a few have it the best, and many in between. But can we please just stop **** about "damn american favoritism" and start **** about "damn horrible game management".0 -

Bloody horrible game management
the problem largely are that new characters aren't ever 2AM for us, its always 2pm, Id know cause I would easy stay awake till 2am0 -

It's all PVEs - there are some subs that end at good times for us, but every PVE for the last 6+ months ends in the evening US time so early morning in Europe, noonish in east Asia, and early afternoon in Australia - and never on a weekend for Australia. PVP isn't as bad because we get the one evening finish and one of the afternoon end times is on a Saturday.
The current PVE is about as good as it gets if it doesn't rubberband at the end - the subs all end in the evening making it possible to build a lead, and if it doesn't rubberband you don't drop 100+ places in the last 8 hrs at work.0 -

I have been T20 in main and #5, #3 in the first two subs. I stand #1 in the sub now with several hours to go. I can for sure hold that T20 and maybe make it to T10 IF the end time was not 6AM tomorrow. I guess I should be satisfied with T50 or even T100 if rubberband does its magic.
I am so dissapointed because I have never missed a refresh on this event unless I was sleeping. My score is 122k and still pushing every refresh. I will still most probably not get 2 covers. 6 days of non stop grinding every single refresh and I will still get the finger during tonight's sleep. How is that a good PVE now?0 -

Good for Australia - not Europe. I don't know why you only have 122k pushing every refresh - I skipped the first day and have 136k missing the final refresh of each sub and have an alliance mate in Europe who is at 138k.0 -

I always skip 1-2 most difficult nodes. I want to be sure that I will be full health for the next push rather than run out of packs. And I got my score wrong. I am at 131k right now standing #1 in my sub and #11 in main. I am so sad that I will not be able to play for the last hours. I hope the last sub will have no rubberband or it has something that will make us not lose our score.0 -
Another problem with sliding start times is implementation, particularly with alliances. If we did this, we'd probably have to wait an extra 18 or so hours for our rewards and final ranking. Since I believe they bought this tourney system as pre-packaged software, they might not even have the ability to have sliding start times.
I really don't want to wait an extra day to get rewards, and I suspect few others would either.Okin107 wrote:I hope the last sub will have no rubberband or it has something that will make us not lose our score.0
