Boycott PVE until it is fair

Why don't you explain what the heck you are talking about?
Why don't you propose what you think D3 should do about it?0 -

Don't call us "1% of the playerbase". People in this forum are the most active and most passionate for the game. We are the ones that drive most of the polls in here and share the strongest opinions and guides. We are the core of the playerbase. Here is where the magic happens, so we have the first word about everything in this game. And our words should count more than any other's.
It is simple matmatics, 1% of anything is not going to get the point across. That was my point. but then I am like .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the playerbase, so I don't expect my point to come across either.0 -
How about a surprise end time?
6 1/2 day event suddenly ends 17 hours through the last sub.
Now that would be eventful, and in all actuality fair for everyone, as long as the secret end time didn't sneak out.

Hi all,
Jumping into the discussion to let you know that we are aware that event end times for players outside of the US are not ideal. We feel this is a huge issue as well and are actively seeking solutions that will work for the entire player base.
I know sometimes it seems like simple solutions are available, but in this case, the problems that need solving are not trivial.
We are listening. We are actively seeking solutions. We do not yet have an ETA for the fix. Please hang in there.0 -

This is probably the most encouraging thing the devs have posted on this issue to date.0 -
The Gauntlet was encouraging; that post was....well I'm pretty sure I've read it before, possibly with "end times" replaced by "token draws."0

Except this is the first time they've ever said they're doing anything on end times. Token draws are still taking a bizarrely long time to fix.0 -
I dont know why they dont let you join brackets with 3 end times as an option. Its segmenting people in groups of 5000 or 500 anyway why not let people just decide on to group themselves.
people will get rewards 8 or 16 hours ahead of the final groups.... who cares.0 -

Purely from a curiosity stance about this long simmering issue, is it possible to give an example of something that was considered but discarded and why it would not have worked?0 -

In this Octopus PvE, the end time is not what bothers me most...
Scaling is terrible. My Ares node is lvl 207 and on the Juggs node, I really can't see how the AI can get so much AP so as to trigger abilities back to back until I die...
Each PvE is always told to be the worst. We've reached a new level of absurdity with this one.
Sorry it happens after all the brilliant changes we had lately.0 -

The issue is that you dont battle against those just in that bracket. Read up some of the past posts (Im sure Phantron, Phaser and probably N.E. have weighed in) to see a more indepth discussion of why that causes issues. The biggest is that everyone would wait to the last time slot to start filling so they could have the extra 4/6/8/12 hours to prey off those who finished earlier. Allowing intra-time slot fighting is a solution there, but brings its own issues.0 -
PvE is never going to be fair for conflicting timezones as long as we're on the 2H 24M model. Let's say you miss 8 hours from the ending time. That's 2 cycles + 300% for the final cycle (100% + 80% + 60% + 40% + 20%). Okay clearing everything 5 times is nuts, but say you do it twice and you'd get 380% of the base points of whatever you can clear. If there's rubberbanding you obviously will lose, but what if there isn't? How much is 380% of the base points? Well back in Prodigal Sun when stuff is still on the 12H model you can only get 300% of the base points for a maximum clear. The final sub, Thunderbolt Mountains, has no rubberbanding at all. This is an event I led the entire time on my bracket and my score is comfortably ahead of almost anyone I know on this forum, and I went into the final refresh with a lead about 1000 more points than the maximum points in one cycle (which is 300%) so I didn't have to do the last cycle. Now, 1 cycle is 12 hours in the old ways, but let's say that's just 8 hours, now you can get 380% of the base points in 8 hours so an event I led the entire time with a huge margin I could've lost #1 for missing the last 8 hours. This is with no rubberbanding and the nodes on the sub are not unreasonably high compared to the subs before, and you still can lose what used to be an insurmountable lead in 8 hours!
After looking at the Gauntlet I think that is actually the right pace for PvE even though I had some serious issues with the scaling. There are something like 50 nodes in there spread out for 4 days, and from what I can tell quite a lot of people still didn't complete it. Let's say half of those nodes are freebies, or at least not so challenging to be comparable to your standard 'green pump + Juggernaut' that you find in heroic events all the time, so that's 25 nodes in 4 days doing them once, and yet people still didn't quite finish it. How does that compare to a heroic event? Well I'm pretty sure I've done random combination of stupidly overpowered DAs 25 times in one day if competition is intense. On something like heroic Jugg/Venom it's pretty hard to not do that number of nodes and still be competitive. That shows how insane the playload this. Gauntlet is probably slightly easier than the typical heroic event for those who don't have terrible scaling (4*s higher than about level 200, though max 3*s get hit pretty hard too) because you get to use your entire roster instead of a crippled version fighting still overpowered enemy combos, and 25 nodes in 4 days was probably still too much. Certainly at its original pace of 3 days it'd definitely be too much for quite a few given all the 'thank you' posts for extending the timeline that can only affect those who didn't finish it.0 -

PvE is pretty even compared to PvP simply because it'd cost a stupid amount of money to P2W your way. Compounded with scaling there's really not much point to worry about sharding because it's insignificant compared to being on the bad/good end of the scaling spectrum.
I'm not convinced the late joining PvE is really a problem because if it really works it's self correcting because if everyone tries that it'd definitely not work anymore. From what I can tell people who have success tends to be guys who could manage a top 10 if they really wanted to, but most likely cannot because hitting PvE in top 10 in a competitive event usually involves stopping everything you're doing with real life. So they make a calculated risk and only play hard for a day or two and will settle for say a top 50 finish, but obviously will take anything better if opportunity presents itself. With sharding there's a real good chance to get into an established bracket where you can't come close to the top 10, but if you don't need the top 10 then it's not a big risk. If you look at these new recent characters none of them are game changing so if you only need a guy to make sure you don't miss out on his essential nodes, you only need a top 150 finish and that's obviously very easy to do for a veteran at the last minute.0 -
I agree boycott the game due to the removal of the hammer and sickle.0

It's not removed. It's not forced any more.0 -
So is there a way in game we can go back to icons? I find the triangle a bit strange and would totally go back.
On end times: The OP is not wrong. It's pretty unfair to anyone outside the US to have to play for US timezones. The easiest fix is to just have 2 events concurrent (you can only join one) with end times staggered by 6 hours. Pick when you want the event to end, join bracket, go go go. Simple.0 -
I dunno what you guys are complaining about, move to EST. The end times are just fine here!0

I think you mean PST. 1 am end times are ****.0
