So with 4.5k for a full clear and a lead of about 11k on 11th I should be able to keep t10 with doing 1 clear at the start, 2 before bed, missing one due to sleep, and grinding the last hour. Alright.

I don't think I ever want to grind a PVE this hard again, but at least it seems to pay off.
  • I found skipping the hard nodes made this a much more pleasant experience. Not fun, but less frustrating and rage-inducing and miserable.

Ditto. Terrible event. And I'm in 2nd with more than a 10k lead over 3rd.

[I have the same issue, all nodes have disappeared and I had to start back at square one, with the teamup node that allows you to use buffed AI characters. Do I need to re-do each node again to open everything? Does everyone else have to do this?

I redid the one node and it restored all my other nodes as they were (as in, showing I had already done them).

Hmm, nothing is coming back. I have already completed half the nodes (for no points) and the last set up nodes still haven't shown up. Sent D3P a report on the issue, we'll see if it's fixed in time.

I restarted the app, then refought the node, so that might help. If not, I don't know what to tell you.

Just ended up repeating all the nodes. Finally the last fights opened up for me, 2500pts on the essentials (rubberband much) so I think I'll get the Doc Ock cover. Thanks for all who offered suggestions!

Should have ground harder. Currently 24K clear of 10th, which might already be safe, but a double clear in 2 and a half hours time will mean I can have a lie in. I told the UncannyMUGs I was not going for top 2 and they should be safe unless Colognoisseur or Bonfire pull out something special in the last hour or so.

I think I am with you for the first time.
Since playing for the last year this is the first time I actually dread playing the game because this has been such a slog. I can't wait for these last three refreshes to be over.

For me this has been a worse event than the first Heroic Oscorp or the first Thick as Thieves.

I'm not sure if the combination of rubberband and scaling is where they want it but I at least know in my bracket my top 10 is mostly vets. The mid tier lvl 94 teams have not gained much traction in my top 10.

I also have to shout out to Sumilea who I have watched perform in our bracket. His understanding of the mechanics of PvE is simply genius. Just by watching I think I might have learned a few things.

I admire the UncannyMUG's they have played tenaciously all I want to do is to make top 10 so they are safe from me for top 2.

Ditto to you. We were in the last sub together and you killed it near the end. First sub for this event I didn't finish 1st overall. Well played.

Hovering around the rank 150 mark, and realizing that I'd actually rather have another yellow Ares than a single Doc Ock cover, which will basically do nothing for me but take up precious roster space for the foreseeable future (except probably be required in the next event, which may or may not be worth it).

Also sort of amazed at the points available in this last part of the event. I'm not getting 20k a clear or anything insane like that, but I could get about half that. It actually makes 120k seem like something that could happen, except I'd have to really grind like crazy... And that would almost definitely end me with a Doc Ock cover. Such an odd place to be. icon_e_smile.gif
  • I've ground the hell out of this for the full event, placed top 5 in every sub and now I'm seeing my lead on 11 fall away due to brutal scaling and RB on the main nodes. What kind of a reward is that? Cruel of you, D3 icon_evil.gif . I didn't expect my 94s to win, but now top 10 is beginning to look less and less likely.

Oh well, at least it's not all bad. RNGesus has been kind to me in the token drops on this one, so I'll take that as a consolation prize.

If you don't see yourself getting any doc ock covers from PvP, go for the singleton cover here. Being able to play essential nodes are, well, essential to doing well in future PvEs. You'll have a huge leg up over your fellow transitioners.
  • This might be the second PvE event I have played where I didn't finish with a 3* cover. I think it's just the roster being extra weak compared to normal as none of the characters interact meaningfully with each other and nobody is strong enough to go 1on3 either.

The less the rubberband the less strategy there is in PvE and rubberband is borderline nonexistent for all practical purposes. It reminds me of the time where I was grading someone's paper and they complained I docked them unfairly and the professor is like okay just add them enough points to not get to the next letter grade because he only takes the letter grade anyway, e.g. 85 is B and so is a 89, so if they complain give them an 89 but it's a B for the system. That's about all the rubberband is good for, but it still won't be moving you up a reward tier.
  • I really hate the "Call me Ragnarok" node. With my current roster, I can't seem to beat it. When I try to kill Rags before he has used his green feeders to cause a rediculous cascade at some point to cripple my team. Then by the time he is down, I don't have enough left to down the Pyro before they get off one Flamethrower to finish off my team. When I tried I down the Pyro first, it just gave Rags more time to hit the enevitable crazy cascade.

I guess I could use buffs to get by it, or dump ISO into Torch (114) and IM40 (80), but I would feel I was just wasting the ISO, as I'ld rather be dumping it into X-Force. Although maybe I should just dump it into LCap (120), and just play the PvP hard. Curse you rubber band! If you were not around, I wouldn't have to beat this node multiple times.

Also it is nice to see most of my top 10 in this thread. The ones I don't see are in my old alliance (UncannyMUGs), which I left due to not wanting to PvE when horrible covers were on the line, because this constant grind sucks enough with new characters on the line. When I lose, I atleast know Doc Oc will be put to good use.

Could be a product of lucky boards, but I'm beating that one pretty handily with (Maxed) Thor/OBW/MStorm. Use Thor for Red/Yellow damage & to make green, OBW steals and delays CD (plus fake heal), and MStorm gives board shakeup, CD destruction, and AP for green. Her black isn't real powerful, but I use it if I remember to. I'm 4/4 on the node without much stress at all.

I have higher leveled Psylocke & HT, just don't like them for this node.
  • There's definitely a lot more variance on the fights given how weak your roster is. You can be totally owned one game without making any significant mistakes and then totally own the same team the next game without even making any awesome moves.

    I just barely beat it myself with 2* 3/5/5 icon_thor.png (unbuffed lvl 70), 2* 3/1/3 icon_hawkeye.png & 3/5/2 OBW.

The RNG must have favored me this time. I was able to deny redtile.png and greentile.png for quite some time & then generate 2 : purplecrit.png to take out the Pyro with Speed Shot. The next set of cascades knocked icon_thor.png down to 2 HP. Stored up enough purpletile.png AP to fire off 2 Aggressive Recon early on so icon_thor.png could fire Thunder Strike twice which fed into CTS. Venom knocked out icon_thor.png but yet another fortunate : bluecrit.png to match 2 purpletile.png allowed me to take Venom out. The remaining soldier was essentially killed by match 3 and me spamming OBW Anti-Grav as much as I could.

Survived with 500hp between OBW and mHawk..now to wait for the nodes to refresh.

The last few hours seems designed to give people who were in poorer subbrackets a chance to rubber band back up to the rest of the global group. It's actually an interesting design, but it sucks that it comes down mostly to timing.

I was actually trying to lose on that node, and threw Psylocke, IM35 and Hawkeye** at it. However, due to Ragnarok's green generation, Hawkeye was able to pick up several 5's and down the support along with blast arrows, surprisingly winning the day. Tried a quick second time, and was unfortunately defeated: Psylocke was too low on HP to tank.

I really should try the Modern Storm/OBW combo. I remember that used to be able to crit-lock enemies back in the day with infinite cascades. It does seem counter-intuitive to use Yellow for Elements and Green for Lightning Storm, even though that's probably the best way to go.

Pretty much the same as always then; it always comes down to the final hours for PvE.
