The Hulk Event, Unfarmable?!

  • Which was my point really. If they just explained how things work then none of this would happen. No frustrated people cuz they would know what they are getting into. Instead people are left to guess, leaving the most frustrating possibility: being inches away from the goal and unable to achieve it. Just teasing the core fan base. To one person you'd have to not be thinking straight to not see what's going on. To another they just got screwed out of their goal. Just a frustrating place to put your players, and for what? What is gained?

Well, I don't believe their intent was to be secretive, nor that they put players in that position intentionally, but I think it would be good to put themselves in the player's position for a moment. They are taking steps to make these events better, and I think many agree that the way this one ended was, but as you said, no one knew what to expect. All we could do was guess. I'm not of the belief everything has to be spelled out in gory detail, but my sincere hope is that the result was close to what they wanted and there will stop being such drastic changes from one to the next.

  • But I don't think it was unreasonable for people to expect that the last segment would be handled similarly to the entire preceding week.

    I agree 100%.

We play in good faith. Many of us, myself among them, happily spend some pretty considerable money on this game. I really focused and was proud, looking forward to that red Punisher cover and the satisfaction of HOURS of hard work during the holiday paying off. Now... I am very, very let down. For the established rules to change with neither warning nor explanation feels much like a slap in the face.

I'm a mom. This is about as much gaming as my busy life allows. I was willing to stay up to farm my way to nice ranking because it was fun and felt worth it.

Not so anymore. I am heartily disappointed and fear this will drastically affect my future decisions to monetarily contribute to this game. Sad but true.
  • Absolutely raging lol. This has been an incredibly long event and now I miss out on 50k due to 300 points. It's not about the punisher card it's the principle of the whole thing. Disgusted in a game I've enjoyed playing for the last 60 days or whatever but guess I'll be knocking back to casual play.
  • 39 points from the Punisher cover. Gah! They should just give the top 1500 the Punisher cover. C'mon, guys! Just doooooooooo iiiiiittttt!!! icon_e_sad.gificon_arrow.gificon_e_biggrin.gif
  • Let's say the event took 10 days (was slightly shorter), then you'd expect to be able to get 2500 points in a 12 hour period (1/20th of 50K). So there was no reason for anyone to think there would be so little points left in the final 12 hours of the tournament. Looking at the posted numbers most people are 500-1000 short of 50K when the last sub bracket ended and it's not unreasonable to expect the last set of missions to cover at least 1000. It's okay for the points of the final missions to be very low, but there should be some kind of warning ahead of time.

I think they need to hear that. Thank you for expressing it. I want the game to be around and healthy for a long time. Again, I don't think there was the slightest bit of malicious intent but people don't like feeling jerked around, especially when you feel like you made a significant time investment then had the proverbial rug pulled out from under you.
  • I think the important part is communicating how the event will be run. I used to think of figuring out the rules of the event as a sort of "mini-game" but it doesn't really work that way when there isn't information to make an educated guess. In this tournament, we were trained to think that beating missions in the main mission unlocks sub-missions that have repeatables. That was theory was invalidated with this last set of missions.

I'm not going to say I'm going to stop playing/paying as many have proclaimed so far but I find my interest in the game waning more and more with each of these tournaments. I put in more effort than I really should and end up realizing I could have done just as well with less time if I just planned better. Problem is, there's no planning when the event rules aren't clear. Even after saying that, I still feel like the devs have been listening to the community after each set of missions and the game is guided by our words. Here's to hoping that there is more transparency in the next one.
  • 5 points off! I hope whoever is in charge catches Aids!

Okay there is being frustrated and then there is... ugh... please stop talking for, I don't know... ever.
  • Got top 300, but I must say I'm pretty pissed how the ending was handled. Changing the scoring paradigm and basically ending the tourney 12 hours early was a huge **** move.

It's a competitive game after all, I want to compete by having better strategy, better teams or better board control. And not because I had luck or guessed the completely unclear scoring rules.

Also I was in the top 0.4% of tourney participants but I didn't get the final progression reward. That makes final participation reward rarer then the 4 star competition reward. Bad planning or quite mean. I mean after being able to score like 10k points on the second last day, I guess a lot of people had hopes of getting the punisher cover and not being put off with 300 points total in the final hours of a week long marathon...
Overall the most anticlimactic ending so far.

It was a poor joke. Granted your annoyed, but there's no need to stoop to that kind of ****.
  • Lol obviously not a South Park fan! Aids is retro mate! Even they did catch it they just have to inject our large sums of cash directly into the blood stream and it cures it!

My main q is why keep this a secret. What do they gain? If people were planning on how to tackle the event thinking they'd have 12 hrs to farm, their plans all failed and now they are screwed. Nothing farmable. No sub events. This NEVER happened!

If I was a super casual user this wouldn't matter. Probably would barely have farmed close to enough, considering how much I had to play to get 49k. But I'm invested, so I played every hulk fight, farmed repeatables, and got to 49k thinking I'd farm a little more before bed with the last hulk maps. And so I get screwed, the invested user that keeps coming back.

The sub-events all lasted > 12 hours. The tournament is finishing at 5 AM EST. Anyone that expected a great deal of new farmable events for the last 12 hours didn't think straight.

I have 5 valid points to make about you and your statements

    1) your an idiot
    2) your an odiot
    3) your an idiot
    4) your an idiot
    5) YOUR A FKN IDIOT

No one expected a ton if farmable stuff. We all know the main missions weren't farmable. No one said hey the sub missions are done. No one said the last x amount of hours will be in the main mission. Nothing was clear and no one had been wrong for being a
Upset, however I will make 1 thing incredibly clear in this thread if nothing else. The fact that you are a fkn idiot. icon_e_smile.gif

  • I really wish no one was upset because I want people to continue playing the game. But almost everyone has made it clear we never know anything about the way rules/events are set up. So now people are upset because they assumed they knew the rules? This doesn't make an sense.

We can have another conversation about the game needing more transparency but the current topic of changing the rules mid-event is just silly because we never knew what the rules were to begin with.

And just to reiterate (incase it matters to anyone) this is coming from someone who wanted the red punisher cover and missed it by less than 900 points. It's on me, not the game/devs.
  • I am amazed that people are raging and bitter over 1 single cover. I'm disappointed, but

    A) If I had played more, I would have gotten it.
    B) If the Top player had played more, lots of people would have gotten it.

We don't know what happened with the rubberbanding. It's so tied to the people willing to grind the most. Maybe they were busy for the holidays some of the sub events, and therefore we're a few hundred points short of where d3p expected us to be. I know I eased up on grinding during the event.

If the top progression reward, the one punisher cover, is the breaking point for you, for what was otherwise probably the best done event by d3p yet, I just suggest taking a step back and taking a breath, and thinking about it.

The end of the event ran pretty much how I expected it to, except I expected one or more of the missions to be farmable x3 for points (Like the ISO red event). Due to 12 hours, I did not expect sub-events. But I'm ok with them not being farmable. It let the end of the event be much more stable than previous events. But apparently you can't please everyone.
  • Yes, I'm taking a step back and so is my wallet, to not be able to get at least a 1000 points on the last day is totally ridiculous, its a big deal to me because I didn't have Punisher to start with and when I bought 1 of those packs I got 1 Punisher and 1 other cover I needed, so I was disappointed to start with, unless they start clarifying things more I'm done spending money, I have other games I can play that if I spend money I know exactly what I'm getting

Look, it's not the end of the world or anything. But how is this on you? Thinking you'd be able to farm 2000 points or so in the final 12 hours of the event or so was reasonable given how the event was run. What they did is the equivalent of ending a basketball game in 3 quarters and then saying its on the team for thinking they could score more points in the 4th quarter.

Sure, the rules weren't clear so it wasn't a a given. But how could anyone not expect to be able to farm a bit at the end. Extremely frustrating to get surprised at the end like that when grinding constantly towards the goal the days before.

Did I like the event? Yeah, got tons of iso and hulk was cool. This is just similar to last event to me: a frustrating end to a nice event. If anything it's just teaching me to be a bit more casual with the game cuz who knows what the hell is going on
  • Look, it's not the end of the world or anything. But how is this on you? Thinking you'd be able to farm 2000 points or so in the final 12 hours of the event or so was reasonable given how the event was run.

Because the second I knew the last piece would last only 12 hours I knew it was going to be different. So I should have farmed the last couple of sub missions more than I did. But I didn't want to and I knew that meant there was a chance I wasn't going to get the last cover.

And the whole time I knew I didn't know the rules and I should get as many points as possible every single day just in case I ended up a few short but I didn't because I didn't want to grind past the point of getting all 500iso rewards (and I'm so lazy I only did about 33% of those).

I earned all the rewards I got because of the actions I took (and everyone helping out with the free Hulk). I more or less lost the rewards I missed because of the actions I didn't take. I say more or less because there could have been more rubberbanding (in so many different ways) but then everyone would be complaining about the huge leaderboard turnover the last day. At least this way the people in each progression level didn't get ****. If some of us have to miss the top progress reward as a result I'm 100% fine with that (I've never been able to get up to 1400 in pvp either).
