    On a side note, this has been a stuff up from their end from one perspective.

    When you say emphatically that something will be done by a certain date and days later, you come in with a few hours to go of your self-imposed deadline (by which time it is obvious to almost everyone it's not happening) and say, "actually, it's not ready", that's kinda poor form. They really didn't know 1, 2 or 3 days ago it might not happen and then provide an update of such a possibility?

    Sure stuff happens, just a computer game, nothing world changing, makes no difference to me in anyway, etc. but it's not a great look for the company.

    I think you may have accidentally misread the original announcement. It stated due to waiting for first party approval they did not have a firm eta, but they anticipated it being fine by 9/5.

    Yeah, that's a fair point - I did not reread the statement since soon after it was posted. I withdraw the use of emphatically from my original statement. My reading of that is still they were anticipating to do it at least a few days ago and the 5th was still giving themselves leeway. Not to worry.

    Whoops I had not looked at that again either. I would just like to point out that reading is really hard.

    If the hold up is Apple approval, I can see there being quite a line. With the upcoming iOS and iPhone release, I'm sure there are many developers trying to get through approval for the launch.

    People want communication. They provided it. What else do you want?

    This is most likely what was speculated, that Apple's taking its sweet time approving the update.

    Do they know when it will get pushed through? No. I know that's people want, but trying to predict something like that does more harm then good, because then people whine "you said this but reality ended up being slightly different!"

    Perhaps I was not clear.

    icon_e_wink.gif = wink

    Wink = joking around

    Joking around = not being serious

    Not being serious = me

    Savvy?

    Oh, I saw the wink. The wink can be taken literally or the wink itself can be taken sarcastically. That's why sarcasm doesn't work well on the internet.

    "First party approval" would be Marvel, not Apple. Of course, it's possible they're past Marvel's piece of it by now.

    So when did Marvel start publishing the game? First party would usually be the publisher or waiting for it to pass quality assurance for the markets in which it is being submitted. Odds are it's Apple that's taking a while since they have a generally longer approval process.
  • I remember my first party approval. I had to ask my parents, and they made me promise to not get too rowdy. My friends had a great time, so it was a win all around.

    My guess is that it was probably apple, but marvel does have to approve stuff before it goes through. The much more transparent dev pipelines at Marvel Heroes talk about the marvel approval process/delays all the time. They have to approve stuff even before allowing placeholders to be put up on the test center client

    I reckon there has to be something else going on.

    How is this patch SO different from any others? Just some character balancing, nothing "major" as such.

    Or is it just this time they gave us a date that they couldn't keep, where as they normally don't give dates, so we don't know any better.

    Marvel Heroes is directly tied to Marvel Entertainment. Marvel Puzzle Quest is not or at least they have not stated that they are up to this out. If they were, they wouldn't need a publisher such as D3. We really don't know the extent of Marvel's in the title or the type of licensing deal D3 has with Marvel but I doubt it's nothing like the 10 Year deal Gazillion has.

    Probably the later. They usually wait to say anything until it's almost ready, but since they're trying to be more communicative, they actually revealed the changes ahead of time, er...this time.

    And I'm pretty sure that the reason they need D3 is the small size of their team, not that Marvel Entertainment doesn't give a toss about it

    The character balancing of Xforce could be the delay, but gods I hope not.
    I hope MPQ is Not tied directly to Marvel. They might make MPQ take away Wolverines healing factor. Patchs healing is one of the most useful abilities in the game.
    Killing Thor and Captain America I can live with, but killing off Wolverine is just..... well it's uh, ..... There are no words to describe just how fu#&@d up that is.

  • The way I read it, the delay is probably in the approval at one of the app stores, possibly due to Apple (or Google) finding a bug and rejecting the app submission. If it's Google, the bug could get fixed, app resubmitted and get approved within one or two days. In Apple's case, resubmitting an app and getting it approved can take up to two weeks in the worst case scenario (from personal experience) which would give me some more time with my pre-nerf cMags icon_e_biggrin.gif

    People are overthinking this. They were trying to get it out by Friday, and it hit a snag. Most office workers, including software people, go home on the weekends. Just wait till Monday.

    What he said!
  • I'm surprised no one thinks that the sunder bug happened again and they are trying to fix it for their dignity.

    Should be ready for launch any time now.

    I expect the servers to be taken down 30 minutes prior to the end of the second simulator sub.

    Can I get this update already? I got a Falcon that needs to be covered this Simulator by Daken... >.>
  • They probably waited for daken to no longer be the deatured character in the pve event. What would people say to nerfing him while he is the featured character?

    They usually feature the nerfed character to make everyone play with the new stats. I would not be surprised to see a magneto PvP tournament this week.

    I was afraid of this, but they have exceeded my expectations. I was able to get my top 5s and if they shut me down until I get home tonight, nothing is running now anyway. Come on, D3, now is the time to lock out your mobile users. Get it done.
