Having worked my nuts off in the hunt to win 3 Punishers I would be equally pissed if everyone was given a free Punisher! The Dev's are rewarding the winners with a chance to play with their prizes. If you didnt win one in the hunt just shut up and buy a pack! How you can expect to just be given a top prize is insane! 'What you sow - you shall reap' as my old school motto used to say!

It's got nothing to do with how hard you worked. There were tons of people that worked just as hard or harder than you that didn't get any covers because of the way the rubberbanding worked. Requiring Punisher for this event is rubbing salt in the wound. Again, this is spoken from the POV of someone that did get 2 punisher covers. I feel their pain. Now, the good news is that an awful lot of people are going to get Hulk covers, and most of them don't have Punisher, either.

Honestly, I could care less about the punisher, I just love playing this game. I grinded the **** out of the hunt, played every mission when they came up, every replay mission I could (didn't have IW or Grey Widow) and honestly didn't come up with jack squat (no punisher) and that's okay.I guess the rubberbanding really really screwed me there. I don't really care, just wanted to play. NOW, because of that, I play the Hulk levels for about 10 minutes and that's it. Just a little peeved that I can't play the game more.

You know what might have been fun? They could have split the players into two brackets, Alpha and Bravo teams. Alpha team has to infiltrate in stealth fashion (with missions that reset after 12 hours) and Bravo team is a diversion, making as much noise as possible while Alpha team gets into position (infinitely repeatable missions for those that like to grind). Two brackets, catering to two distinct play styles.

I would have DUG that so much. Or even have two brackets, one for hardcore higher levels guys and one for the casual players who just have a color match obsession icon_e_biggrin.gif

Then some one will say that this event is unfair.

*SIGH*.....there really is no winning in this scenario is there?
  • I don't get why all of a sudden it won't give you the free character to fight with in the battles! It is just so unfair. The rich get richer.
  • So I completed all the missons I could and keeo dropping and dropping, even out of the top 800. Think this is the the time I'm out. Good luck on the game all

Completely missing the point. In my opinion people shouldn't be punished in one event for not having placed in the top of another event. A level 6 stand in Punisher as in most missions if you don't have a character would have been enough instead of straight up. You can't do this mission unless you either placed highly in the extreme rubber-banding tournament or buy the Punisher.

My biggest issue is how much the Punisher missions are worth.

Right now the highest non-Punisher mission I can do is worth 10 points, the Punisher mission (which is a much easier mission) is worth 91. That is a HUGE difference, and it makes me feel like I can't actually compete in this sub-tournament.

They seem to have cut back on the Punisher-required missions after the first set of events...

Not anymore. I stumbled upon two missions that required him, and it seems to be worse then before.

    Using Greenland as an example:

The highest non-Punisher mission is 240 Jugg, 240 Rags, and a 200 Grenadier which is worth 800 points.

The Punisher required mission is 85 Juggs, 85 Rags, and an 85 Pyro and its worth 2000 points.

So in this case we have a much easier mission that pays 1200 points more then the much harder one, but I can't do it because I don't have the Punisher.

Why the hell does the Punisher mission give so many more points? Its kinda beyond being a treat for those who have the Punisher and feels more like giving them an elevator while the rest of us try to climb the ladder. How am I supposed to compete in the tournament with it stacked so strongly towards those who have a Punisher card?

Look again. Hulk is required as well, and since 99+% of players only have one cover, this mission is still pretty rough.

I can't speak to the designer's thought on it (this is a personal, not developer feeling), but do also realize that if people smash out the Punisher missions and gain those points, your other missions will gain as well, allowing you to catch up to a large extent. The Punisher missions are definitely bonuses, but the rubber banding tends to eat most of the actual advantage of the extra points over time.

Even if you were foolish enough to drop HP and ISO into improving Hulk you'd be better off using the provided character since he has more than 1 cover/power.

We're talking about "Our Big Hitters". There isn't a provided character on that one.

Oops. I glanced at it too quickly (currently zeroed for me).

That's just going to be ugly.

Seems like the missions are ideal for saving a full stack until the very end of a sub-bracket. The rubberbanding isn't going to help the have-nots much then. Hopefully one of these isn't available during the final minutes of the main bracket. I have Punisher, but even so that 2000 point mission is tough by forcing you to use two characters that are likely low level for anyone who hasn't spent money on them (or was hoarding earned HP for them).
