Invisible character theory is tinykitty. Char 1 -> TU 1, 2->2, etc.

I would believe it if my own experiences weren't completely different from that.

    Agreed.

This, not so much. I'll have to keep checking to be sure but I think I've taken out a few countdown timers (Flame Jet, Defence Grid, Peacemaker) by taking out the guy in front when it was cast.

Others here have figured out that countdown tiles and traps are linked to an invisible character who can die. You can kill the invisible character with an AoE power, or sometimes, self-damaging powers take them out without you having to do anything...

    ...

I've done exactly this in the LRs last week by using / abusing Punisher's boosted Molotov AOE to pop CD tiles from the AI Team-Ups. Worked great on hidden Trap tile Team-Ups also.

TL;DR: try to keep a cheap costing AOE handy to nail that invisible 4th char linked to AI Team-Ups icon_e_wink.gif

Yeah, I don't think the 1-2-3 theory holds water either. Flame Jet, Defensive Grid, and a few others, like MNMags stuff, seem to die pretty easily. It looks like whoever's in front owns them.

World Rupture on the other hand is just bizarre, and seems to have been changed in one of the hot fixes. It used to belong seemingly to nobody, now when it goes off one tile explodes and then the others pop like the owner kicked the bucket. Not sure what the hell is going on there, but...ummm...working as intended? Yeah! Go team! icon_razz.gif

I've had the ownership shift from front to middle on replays of the same node, though. I'll definitely allow that it's probably not as simple as I said above, maybe I'm just getting "lucky". And of course I can't always manage to kill the person I think is the owner before the tiles get wiped or go off, so it's an imperfect science.. icon_e_wink.gif

I see World Rupture and Symbiote Snare the most...thankfully the Snare often seems to be a single character stun and not the full team.

Though, I still get annoyed when a full team of Goons can call on a Team Up when they seemingly do not have the required AP. Sure they can get the AP through cascades, but there have been a few questionable situations regarding this.

I had a very strange experience with goons and TUs. It was a hybrid battle, don't remember which DA member was mixed in. AI had 3 TUs, costs were 7, 8, and 9, and was sitting on 6 TU AP. The turn before I downed him the main villain made a TU match, bringing the total up to 9 before I finished 'em off. On the next turn the goons did nothing, then nothing again. Then the third turn after they used a TU, but not the 9 cost one, they used the 8 cost one. To which my response was "WaitWhatHuh!?" and yours is likely "Cool story, bro." icon_razz.gif
  • Sometimes they do seem to wait until they can target the weakest character. Must be the improved AI people have been clamouring for, until it happens.

Yeah, I've staved off WR TeamUp by killing the current AI character.

Also, as an aside, as long as I have a shield tile-generating character (IM35, CMags, BP, Loki kindasorta, Falcon, Bullseye, Spider-Man, borrowed TeamUp), I shall fear no WR, for thy shield tile negates any incoming damage while keeping the AI's injury with every tile. I now fear Supernova to a far greater extent than WR.

Hm. I see what you mean now. Got TU world ruptured then hit by an Ares Onslaught, which triggered Storm Tempest, which didn't kill any of the other team, but made all the world rupture tiles suddenly disappear anyway.

I finally saw the weird behavior with World Rupture's team up, too. When the countdowns started going off, only two or so actually went off and then suddenly, they all disappeared. Without any of the opposing team dying, and I hadn't used any AOE abilities on the team before that, either. So apparently the self damage was enough to kill the invisible fourth person? Very odd.
  • The really weird thing is sometimes one or two World Rupture explosions will cause the other tiles to pop as if the owner has been downed and sometimes they won't. I've had different results in back to back battles. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it at all. Even had one where I switched targets after the countdowns were on the board, downed someone who was not the front target when World Rupture was cast, and that caused the countdowns to all go away. Figure that **** out.
  • Alone the WR might not be that intimidating, even if it works the way it should. But if he plays sacrifice first, ant the WR works correctly you'll be I a bit of trouble. Even if you have someone who creates protect tiles.

I don't remember the stats for a maxed out sacrifice but if played right before the countdowns reach 0... Boom goes the dynamite in that nasty strike tile
It might be a worst case scenario. This happened to me once, not statistically significant to say that's it's a real danger in pvp or pve but still, and it very effectivly turned my team to a bunch of tombstones.

    Just a thought icon_e_smile.gif

Thankfully, I have stopped seeing WR so much! Now I mostly see Supernovas! JOY! Lost so many easy battles in PVP to a from-the-blue Supernova, and when I didn't, I still had to use three Health Packs because my heroes where crippled. This is another clever combo in this game: True Healing + defensive Team-Ups to make you run out of packs by your third fight.

This is yet another reason to run lineups that have high HP, accelerated healing, or true-healing abilities, like Patch, Daken, Deadpool, Hulk, Thor, BP, etc

Yeah I was wrecked last night by a nasty world rupture combo in a pvp match yesterday with human torch left. Wiped out my team like they were nothing.

Team up Berserk Rages suck in Hot Shot - well they sort of don't either at the same time too - and they're really common.

But it's about team diversity and people spending money
