Between this and only 2-10 getting good prizes in the other tourneys, it's like they don't want us to actually play the game

You might have enter the event too early. If your heroes aren't very powerful, than going through all the fights an event might take your longer, so you will have to start going through them early. On the other side, if your heroes are powerful, it'll take you less time to go through them, and you can start later. Assuming everyone do all the fights, the later you start, the more points you'll get.

If everyone understand this, everyone will have fun.
  • How are some of you even still playing? My Hunt ended 45 min. ago.

I'll break the circlejerk here, but it was very very obvious that repeatables went down to zero. It was also very obvious that running through all of your repeatables early was a very bad idea. In 10 days, we all had plenty of opportunity to learn the best tactics, given the situation. The people at the top of your bracket understood that and played accordingly.

I don't think the rubberbanding was very good this tournament, and there is a lot to improve with it. But, you play with the cards that are dealt, and you likely played them poorly if you were 1st with 6 hours left (or whatever) with your repeatables exhausted.

I waited until the last possible opportunity (90 mins before the event ended) to begin clearing my repeatables, and have applied the strategy you outlined above throughout the entire event. I stayed within striking distance, then cleared to move into the top ranks, then waited for point values to rise. This worked until the very last push. I'm not demanding restitution or anything silly like that, but to play it right for 9 days and still get bumped is a big letdown.

That's the problem here, is that even with applying optimal strategy it still punished many players arbitrarily (or failed to Punish, as the case may be). I'm sure that many people complaining failed to play optimally, but many didn't. Not sure that "learn to play" is the best rebuttal here, as plenty who played it right still were left out.

No matter how you slice it, these are placement rewards. Even if every one knew the optimal strategy, there'd still be only a few people who'd get those placements. The real criticism should be levelled at the bracket and placement system for PvE, but the rubberbanding has been made the scapegoat.
  • I think people are overreacting; punisher covers will flow like candy soon enough (remember cap? moonstone?). Let's remember how many covers and isos we got from this event and be thankful.

I'm not quite sure how that's relevant to my post? These last pvp tournaments, it's been a race to dump points at the end, not to win matches quickly?

Wrong. Nobody complained about the other pve placement events. The problem is rubber band and diminishing returns, although everybody is lumping them together.

Also those are 2*s, punisher is a 3*

Or, you know, you have things going on that make you unable to play in the last hour of the event and have to make the best of a flawed system.

I'm not demanding compensation, but I would like the developers to find ways to have competitions that don't require a massive burst of gameplay at an arbitrary time to stay competitive.

    What about IM40 then...
  • I mean Spideys are kind of flowing like water this past week, so I don't think it's a stretch that Punisher might get similar treatment soon.

I spent 9 days of careful positioning only to discover the rules changed at the last minute AGAIN (rubber banding weakened) and I got screwed and you want me to not be mad about it?

IM40's a *** who seems to show up as a reward in at least one event a week.
  • Yup, rubberband system sucks. I was consistently rank 1-5 throughout the tournament only to drop to rank 40 within the last few hours and had zero points missions to do.

Rubberbanding didn't weaken for me. May have something to do with how each bracket played out, how many people grinded in each, etc.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's rubberbanding weakening so much as the savage land having lower value missions. i.e. no lvl 230 ones

My suspicion is that it felt like the rubberbanding was a bit weaker because more people were playing at the very end. I could be wrong, though.

More people playing would increase rubberbanding, not weaken it.

Totally agree. This is only 3 covers of punisher for top 3. Guys do you have 10 other covers to max him now? Or maybe 1250HP X 10 . And then 200k iso to level him up?
Rules of this Hunt was simple - not play to much and you will be rewarded. It was well known from a week. If somebody did not like rules don't have to play this event. Other topic that this is not good pointing system but this is other story. You will have a plenty of oportunities to get punisher covers.

I was #1 most of the tournament time and landed #25 at the end so I aslo could be upset but I am not. I get plenty of iso to level other characters and won few HP prizes also.

PS: 500 iso reward for first #50 is quite pathetic - 500 iso was a reward for one repeatable mission ...

*cough*Spidey*cough*. Needlessly spent 3k HP on him. You win some you lose some.
