And luck. Red Rags is the only cover I haven't gotten yet. No way to earn this cover other than Rags Lightning Round. Unless you won top 25 in that with the given Rags, it's hard to call it merely hard work.

Nope. I dragged a 0/5 rag and got top 8 in rags lightning to get a red cover. I then cashed in my accumulated HP.
  • Thanks a lot for those stats, IceIX, it was fun to read icon_e_biggrin.gif

You would, yes. You'd also be surprised that CapA is sitting in the Top 5 used since he's "worthless". Most players use who they like, and Cap is right up there for popularity.

I think he's quite versatile. He may not excel in any area but he can survive. He can cling to his life and win against difficult opponents. The cost of his yellow is regrettable. I've not used it often.

I should note that in pvp and pvp the few times I used yellow it was quite good. In the instances I won battles that were close, cap was the survivor.
  • Thanks for sharing IceIX! Now I know why I have so many Brazilian MPQ friends... time to pick up my Portuguese icon_razz.gif

      - Brazilians on Android love themselves some Puzzle Quest, beating out both the UK and Canada in total users. Not so many iOS Brazilians, but they're still high on the list of countries overall.
Brazil has a high import tax which inflates prices. Apple is actually setting up factories there to avoid this tax and capture more of the Brazilian market.
  • I had no idea what people meant by 'purchasing abilities' then it dawned on me you can spend HP for a level.

It honestly never occured to me do do that, seems like such a waste. Then again, at least it takes the random element out of it.

    Hm.

I agree with you completely. Yes, DumDumDugan did it, but he also had people running interference for him from the forums. At this point I think it's increasingly difficult to do. I completely lucked out with pulling my Red Rags from a diabolical token (I think every other one I've one has given me Loki or Hood).

Once you start winning tournaments and/or getting 500 HP progression rewards there's not much else to be done with them. After getting the aforementioned Rags I put 2500 down on him to improve his red; when I get a few hundred more I'll put another 1250 down (I have 1315 right now, but want to have enough buffer to buy a cover slot if needed, because I'm paranoid).

I'm kinda wondering if the 500 HP progression from doubleshot was a fluke from the past. Other than that, there hasn't been one in a while, has there?

      - There are very slightly more regular Android players than iOS players overall. Regular being those that stick around for a while. - iOS is more spikey with new players joining more often then leaving as quickly, Android players stick more often, but come in more slowly. Platform app discovery issues?

As a note to this, I imagine most of you guys at the studio have Android devices, cause the gameplay on Android is far superior to that on iOS IMO. I play the game on a Samsung s4, an iPhone4s, an iPad 2 and sometimes on a iPhone 5. The *biggest* problem with the iOS version is the illusive magical pixel one needs to tap to put another character in front. It's frustratingly unclear where one has to tap to get it right and as a result you end up tapping all over. I'm sure many iOS players don't even know you can switch the targeted enemy, which changes the gameplay quite drastically if you take it out of the mix.

I got Rag the other way around entirely. Lol. I got a lucky Heroic pull for a red cover and had him maxed out at level 67 for weeks. I actually sold 3 red Rag covers I got with Diobolical Tokens before I ever got a green. icon_lol.gif Before I discovered this forum, I was able to catch a Rag lightning round from the beginning and fought to the death for a green cover. icon_e_biggrin.gif All of this before I ever knew any drama surrounded Rag. icon_razz.gif

Ive actually gotten a lot of red rag covers, none from rag lightning rounds. I even got one from the token given in the current DA tournament

Shrug, I'm on a 5s and don't have issues most of the time. Sometimes I do, but I've found that if you slide the teams to the left slightly then it's no longer an issue. It could be better though.

What surprised me most was that most of the IOS users are on an iPhone4. I've played on a 4 and it's slooooooow. Given that the game emphasizes killing quickly, being on an older device like the 4 is a significant handicap. The speed difference on everything is very noticeable.

I have no idea what you're talking about - on iPhone 4, you just tap on an enemy to target them, it couldn't be more simple.

I play on the 4, but that's when I'm on lunch break at work or somewhere not feasible to carry my ipad. For lightning rounds, yeah, there's no way on the iPhone 4

I think these stats are faked, way more users play on Ragnarok than on android or ios. The UI is a bit unstable, but he's clearly got more processing power.

I would be, and then I'd remember that he's buffed in every event. I'll stop using him when you stop telling me to use him. icon_razz.gif
  • "Captain America is buffed!" is just translation for "we're going to force you to use him, and those missions are going to suuuuuuck".

      - Android is still ahead of iOS on total users, but not by a huge amount. Pretty even. PC users are about 1/4 the userbase of either platform. - PC users see the most churn and are the least sticky by far. Those that *do* stay around though have way higher time played/sessions played in comparison to mobile. - Android is still the most sticky platform for new users overall by a bit, but not quite as much as they used to be compared to iOS. Really that iOS has gained in that department than anything. - The Nexus 7 is *still* dominating Android user device lists and Samsung is still sittin' pretty as the top manufacturer of MPQ playing phones. - The top device for gameplay on iOS has moved on and is now the iPhone 5 for phones and the iPad Mini/3 (split almost completely evenly) for tablets.

    Userbase
      - Brazilians still love Android. On the other hand, Germans love iOS. Their positions on the overall demographic charts are nearly flipped between the two platforms. Meanwhile in the PC camp, Russians are enjoying their foray into the Dark Reign Universe. - Still sitting around 10% jailbroken/rooted phones and still little incidence of cheating on either platform amongst that group. PC has the most incidence of that sort going on, but it's still a minuscule percentage of overall players even there.

    Monetization
      - Despite what many users may think personally, players *love* event based packs. Very high on overall user's spending lists and characters that are gained from them stay around on user squads more often than those gained by tokens/rewards. - Alliance Slot fees, as expected, aren't a huge money maker. Other than a relatively few Alliances pushing through with some innovative means to spread the costs, Alliance size buy-ups didn't put us all in Rolls Royce Phantoms. Which is fine, I'd prefer a nice RX-7 FC anyway.

    Characters
      - The most upgraded non 1* character crown now goes to Thor (Marvel NOW!) with Black Widow (Grey Suit) having fallen way down the ranks. Other contenders in the charts for most upgraded: Magneto (Marvel NOW!), Wolverine (Astonishing), Captain America (Modern), Storm (Classic). - If we narrow down to list to only those ability upgrades that were purchased with Hero Points, we end up with Thor (Marvel NOW!), Hulk, Storm (Classic), and Psylocke. - Stripping out 1 stars the top 5 used in order are: Thor (Marvel NOW!), Storm (Classic), Black Widow (Original), Wolverine (Astonishing), Captain America. So Iron Man (Model 40) fell off and Black Widow (Original) stepped up. Devil Dinosaur still ranks dead last.

I assume these stats are for the last week/month rather than since inception?
  • Yes those are daily estimates
