**** Devil Dinosaur (Gigantic Reptile) ****

His purple consistently does nothing for me, as well. I've changed my build votes. I haven't been in a "bad board" situation with him yet, so it'll be moderately useful to have.
Might be best to leave him with 1 or 2 covers, and then to hold it until it can be cast 3 times. That should theoretically cluster some black and red in the top left corner of the board.0 -
You would have to use it, match something so it falls 1 row, use it again, match something again, use it again to get any kind of cluster effect, otherwise you would just be swapping black tiles with black tiles.0

That Purple dance! so funny0
-
I would go 3/5/5 or 5/3/5 since green and red are the same.(just different animations) Then save up as many purple as I can then use them all at once. If you use it 3 or 4 times at once then it might actually be effective. Other than that, the only real reason to use it will be just to see Dino get down with his bad self. But with enough tiles moved and used enough times, it could be useful.0
-
The 5/3/5 versus 3/5/5 depends on who else is on your team. If there's another character covering green then you want 3/5/5, but if you don't have another character on green then want 5 in green not because the green power is great but that it is almost certain you'll still have to get green to deny the other team so you might as well make use of that color. In the featured + 2 format, if the featured character doesn't cover green then you probably end up with very weak coverage on the other colors for having another green character since green/red is one of the most common combination of colors.0

Just saw a level 200+ Devil Dino in the wild. (shield simulator)
He had 16k+ health, so left him for last. But with Hood draining his AP, he was no threat at all. Only lost some health because Sentry got Sacrifice off and couldn't match it for a while.
But yes, shorty arms is almost useless, and yes, it's also kinda annoying to wait through.0 -
Ok I got 4 purple covers and mucked around with it:
the pattern is
confirmed.
I just saved 9 and did it three times in a row, it did nothing, no matches, no cascade, nothing, go 5/5/3 for sure. It made me realize something about how awful his purple is
saving them all up does nothing, because after the first one you are swapping a for an existing where there is obviously no match ( the board is stable) so it is theoretically impossible to get a match out of more than 1 use.
Having more than 3 in purple is increasingly reduced chance of success because a for a in a stable board will never make a match (i.e. if he is 1 cover so swapping a black you would need to have the second and third tiles from the left on the top row to also be black OR the second and third tiles down in the first column) which is the only possible match outcomes. Because the the colors are mixed, lets try a 5 cover use of the ability...
get swapped to the top left. because of the rainbow going across the board in the rows you only have a match possibility for and being the last tiles in the row, where first row column 4 & 5 are also or . Then you have the columns possibility for each bottom color only. E.g. get a match out of rows 4 & 5 in column 1 being ,rows 4 & 5 in column 2 being ,rows 4 & 5 in column 3 being etc
Therefore with 3 covers you have 4 possible matches (one horizontal, 3 vertical), and with 5 covers you only have 5 possible matches (2 horizontal, same three vertical), definitely not worth two covers, unless you are trying to force the AI to use the green or red for a different character. I actually think his purple is a detriment if you have another on your roster, like a 4 star line up of it is so cheap the AI will always spam it on defense.
The only thing I don't know is the boards interaction with Team ups, or which tile is selected to be moved, it would be nice if it were the lowest possible version of that color, for those tiles that get buried on the bottom of the board so that you can dredge them out, but it is not, the animation takes them from different places each use.
Last minute addendum: this just happened with 3 covers. if you save 9 (3 uses) and can somehow have 2 horizontal match 4 below the top so you go ability, wipe a row (horizontally below), use the ability, wipe a row (horizontally below), use the ability you get this!:
which = 3 matches, 3 AP generation of each color, a nice big board hole and a crit tile
is there some strange synergy with She hulk here? lol0 -
Wait, going from level 70 to 270 only doubles his ability damage? ****??0

The 20k health is nice though.
But if you expected an instawin character, you'll be disappointed.
So they just made a joke character instead? 19k health so he can what, tank for all those weakling Red/Green characters?0 -

We needed a 4* joke character. We had yelena, bullseye/Bagman and Spider-man, but since they've made xforce good we've only had IW as a hilarious way to throw away all your iso.0 -
Now they have greatly improved several pressing issues, I think the most requested feature is Skins. I cannot wait myself for classic Doc Ock, Spider-Man black suit and Maestro Hulk.0
-
The animation is hilarious enough to make the ability good and now I won't get that mental image out of my head.
... I'm pretty sure a committee against T-rex discrimination somewhere is taking offence.0 -
The animation for purple is so hilarious it makes the ability good.
He will also be annoying to take down. You'll throw damage nukes at him like crazy, and he'll merrily waggle his arms at you in return. Oh and bite. But the arm waggling is psychlogical warfare.0 -
Although he was meant to be bit of a joke character, I can definitely say he will be a solid mid tier character. He has Hulk level HP and 2 very spammabke and painful Abilities. Getting hit for 2.5k for 7 really can hurt. The fact he has so much HP too makes him a real hassle to take down, along side the fast damage.0
-
He's not a fast character, by any means, but he's going to potentially end up one of the best defensive characters in the game, just because people are going to look at his hp and hit skip. He's going to be a useful anti-Sentry character late in a PVP, just because he'll drag the math out too long.
And in PVE (or a leisurely point in PVP) imagine him tanking red for Steve Rogers and everything for GSBW and annihilating the enemy team with your real damage dealers safe.0 -
Why are people calling him a joke character? Are you guys seriously going to queue up a max dino team when you're trying to do a quick hop?0
