It's even more common than that - every PvE match is against a "character PW", especially if they have loyalty abilities to deploy. It's pretty trivial to make a card into a PW wi…2 -

Anti-Venom after ascension is still terrible, still counters exactly 0 of the characters named Venom, but he is still allowed to take part in the 4* DDQ node after ascension.3 -
