We talk a lot about cards that need nerfs -- but there are some DOM cards that are way off balance the other way.
My first thought is the land supports.
What else?

I just got Haphazard Bombardment. Not sure if its useful at all.
Powerstone Shard is really hard to use, since its useless until you get a second one out (and is barely useful then)
Marwyn doesn't feel right, and her buffs are basically nonexistent (both her power and the mana bonus)
A lot of the cheap supports are pretty lame, but then again they usually are, so idk1 -

I pulled it out of an elite pack, so I feel kind of obligated to find a use for it. But the only thing I can think of is Koth and I don't have him. So limbo it isbken1234 said:

Lol for that :-)
There are of course cards that looks weak compared to the powerhouses of the set. I've pulled Traxos in the new Elite Pack and it is not really good. I told myself that not every single mythic is meant to be super powerful.
But I opened another one and pulled Akroma, Angel of Fury and I find it really really really underwhelming for a masterpiece...

It's just too expensive for what it does -- especially considering it can be taken out the turn after you cast it.Mburn7 said:

Squee, the Useless - Let him buff himself when he returns if anything.
The Memorials - They need their cost reduced a bit.
Traxos, Scourge of Mythics - Give this guy something... anything.3 -

Totally agree. I already have the self replicator, and I definetely want that guy, too. It's easy to set up a deck that cares for légendaires!Mburn7 said:
Traxos seems pretty decent to me, I'm not sure what the issue is.Brakkis said:

He's big, cheap, and easy to get to attack. Why does everyone hate him?

What's wrong with Flash? I know there was a lot of talk pre-release of it being the best masterpiece of the set. I haven't heard any complaints about it since.rafalele said:Flash

If we're adding masterpieces to the list Pernicious Deed is pretty awful. It was my first pull, and I have no idea how it could possibly be used0 -
Flash is casted disabled or not without asking.
The creature casted by flash is destroyed if you do not already have a copy in a battlefield.
For me it is not a good masterpiece.0 -
Traxos sucks and is an Uncommon at best3

Feels like even the Masterpieces are lack-luster this set. Akroma, Angel of Fury is actually a worse Verix Bladewing. same body, nearly same cost (17 v 18), similar evergreen abilities (Menace>Trample imo) and they're from the same set, yet the Mythic has a much more impactful ability than the Masterpiece. What gives?

Better in what way? In terms of power-to-cost ratio Traxos is one of the best. I agree he can't be used in every deck, but one built around him would be pretty good.Brakkis said:Mburn7 said:

There are far better creatures you can play that don't require you to play a certain subset of cards before they can be of value.
You can make a competitive deck with 8 or 9 historic cards (remember, some spells are artifacts and are thus historic), meaning he attacks every turn you play something.1 -

It requires you to play a select subset of cards to be of any value. What if you go a turn without a good match and can't play a card?
Most other creatures with the Legendary tag that you'd play to activate him serve a more robust purpose than he does and so you're better off running a deck with those better creatures.
If you're running supports to activate him, do Saga's count as being "cast" each turn they flip to the next chapter? If not, for the most part you don't want to reinforce them. The only other Legendary supports are the flip lands from RIX. But this all comes back to having a bad mana turn and not being able to play a card. Now you have an 8/8 doing nothing at all for a turn. Seems a waste of a turn. At least with Self-Replicator it can attack every turn. How much it can hit for can change but it'll still hit.
Or there's the 5 spells in DOM that could activate it. They're all pricey and we're back to having a bad turn. Once I get a creature on the field, if the AI doesn't kill/bounce/exile/disable it, I want it to have some value other than taking up space whether I can cast another card or not.0 -

Well, for one, he's a battering ram, so he should at least have trample.Mburn7 said:

Traxos's main problem is that you pay 12 and get... nothing. He needs to triggered in order to attack, and he needs to be triggered every turn, which is not very good value.
He has significant drawbacks, and being a vanilla 8/8 doesn't make him worth the investment.
Now, if he was a 14/14 with Trample, and his drawback was that he could only attack as long as you control a legendary creature... then sign me up.
Aside from this guy, I have to agree with Squee (he would feel right at a 10-12 mana cost), and the Memorials. It seems like the design team has made it a lot more expensive to ramp up your mana. There are no big gem converters in this set, and the supports of Dominaria provide much less of a cost/benefit ratio than previous sets.4
