Bye Bye Cycling

The new standard will remove the key cards for cycling. Never use it anyways , but not sad to see Cruel Reality go.

I wonder if the cycling Nissa will be any good with just the HOU cycling cards? I also hope they adjust the objectives that are nasty even with cycling once we lose it.

There are some cycling cards in HOU, so Nissa 3 should still be viable. Cycling in general just won't be nearly as broken. Personally, I'm going to miss the cheap mana ramp spells much more than the cycling itselfDBJones said:I wonder if the cycling Nissa will be any good with just the HOU cycling cards? Curious about the fate of standard. KLD/AER was supposed to stay in. I guess they aren't following paper format exactly.

I'll 'miss pull from tomorrow, the embalm cards, cartouche of ambition, the converter lands, manglehorn and pyramid of the pantheon.the rest I dont care much about

yeah , cartouche cards are good filler cards ,especially ambition for those long battles with the need of life gain. pull of tomorrow was a staple in a lot of my decks.andrewvanmarle said:I'll 'miss pull from tomorrow, the embalm cards, cartouche of ambition, the converter lands, manglehorn and pyramid of the pantheon.the rest I dont care much about0 -
Cycling was a staple from the first booster of the relase day (get NP right away). But everything has it's time and today are also sime interesting decks around, that will get some sun when the shadow of cycling leaves the meta.0

I'll miss the cheap support destruction.

I think I'm going to miss Cast Out the most. That card has saved my bacon too many times to count

Cast Out, black cartouche, Sandwurm Convergence, cyclesupportkill and Shefet Monitor were great cards. And for a lot of the bossfights in PVE I'd use Kiora or Bolas cycling, wonder how to efficiently kill those 400+ life bosses within a reasonable amount of time after rotation.3

Bread and butter card to handcuff the AI in those long matches until you get your combo set up. Fragile Hixus and one off cards like Settle the Wreckage will have to do. Sandwurm Convergence will be sorely missed ,too as mentioned above. Hopefully, they don't amp up the challenges too much in events if they're balancing the cards down. There are some nasty challenges in the Battle of the 4 tribes that those cards helped me out.Mburn7 said:I think I'm going to miss Cast Out the most. Remember, we aren't losing cards in a vacuum. Dominaria has some sweet cards in paper, its definitely possible that we get some good stuff back in standard. We'll just need to wait and seeAeroplane said:Hopefully, they don't amp up the challenges too much in events if they're balancing the cards down. For sure, They did a good job with the last 2 sets , just a few too many bugs still floating about. They should thoroughly test Dominaria this time even if it delays the release. I wonder if Dinos and Pirates are a one off as merfolk and vampires seem to have their card pool increased in each new set. update- saw one green dino only ,no pirates. lots of vamps and merfolk.Mburn7 said:

For me it'll likely feel like a vacuum though, as my Crystal reserve is as entirely depleted as my Runage from purchasing the last 3 worthwhile PW's (Angrath, H2, and Vraska).Mburn7 said:

If Dom drops anytime within the next month I'll be in a bad way as far as Standard goes...

Nod, will also depend on what new event they end up adding to see how accessible the cards end up being.0 -
@Mburn7 you nailed it in one. If anyone has been looking at the cards that Dominaria has in paper, a ton of them directly translate over to PQ... with adjusted costs of course. Easily going to be one of the strongest sets ever to be released for this game.Mburn7 said:

I for one am going to miss wurm convergeance ... and the embalm creatures in standard. But I won't miss new perspectives. Great card, but going to love seeing that card go away and make players start thinking outside the box like they did pre-AMK.6 -
I am happy to see cycling go as well, and the civil war over it on these threads can finally come to an end.
I will miss a lot of really good cards though, Sand Wurm Convergence, Gideon's Defeat, Desert of the Mindful, Zombie Tribal, some good stuff.

Ditto to this. That card is such a staple in so many events for me. Not looking forward to figuring out how to replace it.Mburn7 said:I think I'm going to miss Cast Out the most. That card has saved my bacon too many times to count
Other than that, embalm offered a lot of good ways to cast less than X creatures. We'll still have eternalize for a bit, but overall, I'm wondering how I'm going to beat those objectives if I can't rely on Imminent Doom and a buttload of cheap spells.

Cards I will miss:
Wrath of God
Dark Ritual
Samut
Angel of Sanctions
Cruel Reality
Anointed Procession
Pyramid of the Pantheon
Approach of the Second SUn
Deem Worthy (Red is running out of removal fast)
Hazoret's Favor
Trial of Ambition
Black & White Cartouches
Final Reward
Gideon's Defeat and the Desert are both in HOU so they aren't rotating our of Standard yet.FindingHeart8 said:I am happy to see cycling go as well, and the civil war over it on these threads can finally come to an end.

woops! Thought they were doing the entire block like they did with Kaladesh/AR. I'm glad those are staying at least

Lucky for me I don't have most of those. But the Cartouches are definitely a low-key loss, as is Final Reward.ZW2007- said:Cards I will miss:

I will not be sad to see Samut, Angel, and Cruel Reality go, I hate facing those.0
