The 4.
He was actually buffed in January 2023….but still, who’d use him?

Tbf his "buff" got overshadowed by 5* Kingpin buff.

I have been playing this game for years, hundreds of hours. Even so, I still only have a handful of fully covered 5* characters. Of course I focused on spending my currency on getting the best ones maxed. I can’t do more than that. Yet you are nerfing all of them! My best 4 and 5 characters are being slaughtered. You are killing this game for me and I my motivation to keep playing is almost gone. You should have buffed others, not nerfed years of effort. This is not something I can not just shrug off and move on from.
The last few weeks since the polaris buff and PVP changes, PVP has been far less fun. I am struggling to even win 16 matches. It’s painful, long, requires a painful amount of health packs, and it’s not fun. You made this game harder than most players want it to be. It’s a puzzle game, not League of Legends. I was a loyal player, but I’ve got one foot out the door now.

I'm seeing both Polaris and m'Thor in PvP about as much as I saw them before the change, both together and separately, and they're beating my defensive teams about as often as before (rarely, but enough to notice).
If anything I'd say they didn't go hard enough on these two. The change doesn't seem to have made any difference.
5 -
Same. I'm still seeing Mthor/polaris more than any other unboosted team. I see them more than jugg/sam and more than Nova/ihulk.

Polaris and Jane trivially wiped 200k off one of my boosted characters health last week in PvP with neither being boosted. They seem as viable as ever. I don't understand though why players aren't exploring alternatives? In football (soccer) if your star player gets injured you have to bring on a sub and the best teams are built with strength in depth not eggs in one basket only.

Tons of players seem to be doing exactly what they were doing before, with no problems. I'm not sure why some folks seem unable to do that.

Why do you think they get insane salaries compared to everyone else. It's all but impossible to win championships without star players.
Sure, depth helps with injuries but the reality is, if your star players are injured and can't play you aren't winning championships.

Well, I could be wrong but it doesn't sound like this guy is complaining about not being able to win championships (come in top place) it sounds like they are just saying that they can't compete against any teams at all. Which makes no sense to me, because I am seeing first hand many players still easily winning with the same team that was nerfed and still beating teams much higher level than them.

Simply not true. In fact "star players" can seriously imbalance a team. Not always of course but a well balanced team can trump one full of superstars. Look how many times the "galacticos" failed to win stuff. Ideally you want both.

Jane and Polaris still seem strong to me but I never used them over boosted characters.

If you have only a "handful of fully covered 5* characters" then to me that sets your level. Grow your roster some more. @ShonQuill says their best characters are being slaughtered but not by who? Is this boosted characters? Well they should be slaughtering your roster and is why Jane and Polaris got nerfed. If it is non boosted characters then you can look at your boosted options. 16 matches win isn't nothing. What were you doing before?

The whole metaphor breaks down because those guys still seem to be stars. Lots of players are having success with them, scoring points and winning matches exactly as they were before.
What are they doing that others aren't? Why do some say they're unable to win any fights at all, when we have actual evidence of plenty of players winning plenty of fights?

Someone who only has a handful of characters at their MMR should not be expecting to breeze through 25 wins of PvP IMO. Part of the puzzle of Marvel PUZZLE Quest is choosing the right team (and supports) for the right opponents, being locked in to one team should result in losses, near losses and health pack consumption. To me this just reads as "good job, the rebalance has worked without completely murdering the Janelaris combo".
[Smarmy one liner] A bad workman blames their tools but a workman who turns up to every job with only 3 or 4 tools should expect to sometimes need a tool they left on the bench.[/]
I do feel like a lot of people who are not forumites don't know about MMR though. The game doesn't exactly advertise it and every other RPG has trained you to think slapping levels on your best characters is the best thing to do. Should we be surprised that casuals chase one character to 450 and hamstring themselves for their efforts?

Matchmaking is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. If somebody gets a character to 450, why should they be able to continue beating up on weaker players? They should fight peers.
Almost every RPG has you fight more difficult enemies as you level up. You don't fight lvl1 goblins at the end of a Final Fantasy game, because that would be boring.

I remember a TON of hand-wringing about the ascended 1*, as they related to matchmaking. "Oh, casual players might buy these and get locked out of the game permanently because they won't be able to win fights! Matchmaking will make it so hard for them! They'll never be able to keep up with the real 5* players!"
Well, all those poor casual players are beating ME up every event now, and I'm seeing a lot of complaints from vets that those characters are too strong! Matchmaking concerns are just so silly at this point.

“It’s painful, long, requires a painful amount of health packs, and it’s not fun.”
More lube required! Poor MThor & Polaris must be red raw with all this overuse, and no warmup!
But seriously, if it’s not fun anymore change what you’re doing. If you really hate your pvp experience that much and find your highest level characters useless you have the option to sell them and lower your MMR. Not a strategy I’d personally follow, (because I don’t think they’re suddenly much worse) but it’s an option if you do.

But they don't fight peers or at least not most of the time. They fight boosted characters I imagine almost all the time unless they find another Polaris/MThor or Sam/Juggs team. So their 450s are always fighting 550s. It's easy to see why they get frustrated and angry and telling them to fill out their roster (something that will take many years) isn't super helpful.
