Well Shang Chi and Mighty Thor are my most highly levelled 5 Stars. Great to know I've wasted my time.Kinda getting afraid to level anyone now as all the people listed for buffs are characters I have zero interest in.
Why aren't you interested in the buffed characters? Is it because they were bad in MPQ, or because you don't like the characters?
Why are you interested in Shang-Chi and m'Thor? Is it because they were good in MPQ, or because you like the characters? If you just like the characters, why do you care how good they are?
I like the characters but more importantly, I enjoy the way they play. There's a clear strategy to them that suits me. Most of the buffed characters are either characters I don't care for and/or they have play styles that don't appeal to me.
How do you know the buffed characters still don't suit you, after they were changed?
I don't, but it wasn't a matter of them being underpowered. Unless there was a major change in how their abilities work, then there is still the same problem of their play style not interesting me.
If you like Shang-Chi, you should try buffed Hawkeye -- they basically do the same thing. Sometimes the buffs they do are pretty dramatic improvements that are major changes in how their abilities work.
1 star Hawkeye? It would take me a lot of time or money to get him anywhere near 5 star.
Edited to add: I would not be willing to spend the money required to get him to 5 star.
Dunno, sounds like you're out of luck then. This game has 300+ characters -- if you're only interested in trying out two of them then it may not be for you.
I play more than the two of them. Those two are my mains partly because I enjoy their style and they're able to punch above their weight class. There are plenty of other characters I play, but those two I've put a lot more effort and time into building.
Spending hundreds of dollars to ascend a 1 star up is just a non-starter for me.
Why do you think it costs hundreds of dollars to ascend a 1 star? They sell them straight up for $20, and I'm not aware of any other way to buy 1* covers, even if you wanted to spend hundreds of dollars.
It's also totally achievable without spending the $20, just slower.

You'll need to work on your flag worthy post game and stop all this helping other players stuff. For example, I have been flagged for:
Saying that I like Dalmations
Making a joke about my wife doing the dishes
Using the phrase "The intrigue..."
Making fun of X-23 Weapon Hex namePlus 20+ more! So as you can see there are a wide amount of tools at your disposal if you think outside the box and you seem just the player to do it! If you want to be put in Forum jail you might need to question a moderators competence after they have moved a thread to another part of the forum for the 20th + time! Good luck!

One of the old mods tried to ban me for promoting disinformation, when I said that customer service did cover swaps for players (back before they stopped doing that, when they were very much still doing that, but before most people knew about it).

It's like Forrest Gump's mum said, moderation can be like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get. I once posted a picture of Reed Richards slapping Sue Storm to show how sexist Marvel Comic books have been. Not only did all my posts get taken down but I was issued a warning for breaching forum rules for promotion of domestic violence. I was doing the very opposite! I pointed out that the image used was published in a Marvel Comic book approved by the Comic Code Authority and that all my supporting text was a criticism of how women had been portrayed in comic books (think I might have even linked to Gail Simone's old "women in refrigerators" site on it). But no dice. I don't even think I got flagged on that one! Unlike the time when I did a post about meeting a wizard!
I think @Scofie might be a tough nut to crack though. Not really had too many eyes rolled Messages from him unlike poor old Fight4thedream who probably sent me one every other week, lol!
Anyway - over to you Mr. Bomber!

I've had some interesting discussions behind the scenes on things that were obviously tongue-in- cheek posts or obvious parody. The worry is that some people miss the joke and think it's serious, or worse, use it as an excuse to promote discriminatory ideology hidden behind a joke. I think it's good to have that discussion out in the open though so everyone knows where we stand. I'm not a fan of deleting posts because those that never saw it can't know it was wrong, but there are times when I cannot do anything else. And at that point I'll mod myself for the off-topic post.

It's true that I can't complete the nodes on scl10. I don't really want to go to 8 because the rewards are worse than the old 10. It definitely feels like a giant step backwards and a significant road bump. That said it may be necessary as there's only so much I can do at 10. Quite frustrating.
This is wrong. New SCL8 rewards are BETTER than the old SCL10.
You can compare them here: https://forums.d3go.com/discussion/93257/pve-progression-rewards-after-the-scl-update#latest

Apart from the CN and 5E there is nothing really in new SCL10 that a 490 roster shouldn't be able to handle. Even if you can't, you can still get significant progression just doing what you can do. If you want to be able to place or trivially clear SCL10 then yeah, you might have to think again and for the record I do not have any 550 characters. I don't know if things have changed but I also remember the Devs saying you didn't need the CN points to get progression any way. And Jane and Polaris are not bad! And there are weekly boosted characters to try! And Juggs/R4G/Guardian can clear a lot of the nodes. And Kang! But apart from all that, I guess I'm out of ideas.
I do the CN node 4 times in CL10 with a 450 5*, 460 5* and an ascended 4* to 5*. I take almost no damage on the 4 clears. Typically no more than about 5k per go. It's certainly not needed to have 550's! I use the same boring team every time but it gets the job done.

I LOVE Dalmatians! They are actually significantly more absorbent than one might think, while also providing the perfect amount of abrasion for that stuck on grease! And if there is anything my wife hates more than Hex23's lame name, it's doing the dishes.... The intrigue... ?

I finished 49th in the Venom Bomb PvE at SCL10 with no characters over level 360.
Not after applause or credit, but the belief that rosters in the mid 400s can't clear SCL10 is patently untrue.

I definitely wouldn't spend $20 on one character, I could buy a full game for that. With RNG I might be able to eventually level up and ascend Hawkeye, but it could take months to get him at a viable level and a lot of iso-8. I'm not against the idea of him, I like the character, I just don't know if starting from square one is a good use of my time.
For why I figured it would be hundreds of dollars, they're regularly advertising **** for 50-$100 that seem like you get very little for the price of a AAA game. I need something like 300 Hawkeye covers to ascend him, that's why I was figuring hundreds of dollars.

Black Widow's PvP is showing me no slow down in Polaris and Jane teams and yes I have checked and all of my queues have equal or higher placed alternatives. I have two Frankie/Jane teams to consider and I just beat a Polaris/Jane team. So the good news appears to be that a large enough bunch of people don't care about the nerfs and I can attack them! Or they haven't noticed!

It seems like you're operating off a bunch of bad assumptions, or just misinformation (someone has addressed the PvE rewards thing in another post). I could definitely see being frustrated with the changes if you don't understand how this stuff works.

You only need to ascend him to 3* to use him effectively. You absolutely should be farming 1 star characters anyway as one of the easiest ways to improve your iso flow and HP flow, but, if you are truly starting from scratch, you'll need 102 covers (76 for a level 144 copy and 26 for a level 94 copy). When I've timed it in the past I find it takes about 4-5 weeks to get a level 144 copy from nothing so you should be looking at 5-7 weeks to get your 3 star level 166 Hawkeye.
There was a level 166 Juggs in the offers this week for 1000HP. If you're lucky the same offer for Hawkeye could come up.

That's slightly better than I expected, but still a frustratingly long period. I had been mostly farming 2 stars, just have the one maxed 1 star. I had considered farming more one stars, but I'm constantly strapped for iso-8, got a couple of 5 stars still waiting to be champed.

It's possible, the SCL 8 rewards felt like a major step down, but that might be because I was looking at the 9 and 10 awards. I do appreciate the link to the post showing that it's not worse. I'm seeing that it's fewer covers than i thought to 3 star hawkeye, though still a substantial amount.

Dude, farming 1 star characters is much better value than farming 2s. Even if you're selling them when they hit 144 you're selling for 65k ISO, you only stuck about 55k ISO into them and your average champ level reward is still the same 250 ISO that you get for a 2 star.

I think creepy Iceman got a buff. Noticed in HoD that his green costs 8 instead of 12.
