Daily Play Token Bug & Exploit Farming
Comments

I sure hope not. Not that you can 'farm' LT from daily crash multiple times a day... those vault tokens, yes, you can 'farm' them. I gotten loads of it when pushing to 25win in one PVP, ended up emptying the vault and reset it for free. At that time, i was wondering how on earth i got them. Hmm...
Sokun said on discord that playing the crash of the titan nodes that appear every day is perfectly fair and to go ahead and play those. The warning is just about force closing the app to farm the special vault tokens repeatedly.

Here's an idea.
Turn off the vaults and daily tokens. Give everyone a nice make good of a single free token for each vault for each day that they missed once you've fixed your mistake. Would that be so freaking hard? Sure seems like a better idea that threatening us and crafting analogies likening us to bank robbers. It shouldn't be that hard.
Who knows. Maybe you can't figure out how to do that. Based on the state of the rest of this update, I guess that wouldn't be much of a surprise. Which all goes back to the question getting asked over and over. Why was this pushed to release? That's not a rhetorical question.

Feel free to ask me for my username I’ll happily provide it for banning purposes. Man you guys are so tone deaf. Putting out **** year after year and the game declines and there constant errors ins schedules and bugs everywhere, and the new rollout sucks, and the only thing you guys can see is oh no stop abusing our buggy pile of ****, just pretend it’s fine and don’t play the nodes available! Pound sand. Seriously…. The gall to post this is astounding.Oh well, so much for cool heads I guess.
Get the Devs!
But why are they announcing their want for a ban? They could just quit. Unless they have no intention of getting banned and just want to add fuel to the fire by offering themselves for martyrdom they don't believe will ever come, thus feeding their need for portraying a victim overcoming imagined adversity while simultaneously envisioning themselves the selfless hero sacrificing themselves for the greater good...
Or they totally abused the exploit and need to deflect accountability.

If you are abusing the exploit after the dev's said knock it off on all communication channels then you get what happens. But, also they have not addressed this at all in game with a pop up so I am sure some people will be oblivious.
This is still 100 on the dev's though, because they released this update knowing that this issue was still in the game after the Steam pre-release.
They should force an update and disable daily tokens until they fix this. Anybody with 324 installed should be redirected to the new build in their respective app store.

Pretty ambiguous here. Can we get some sort of definitions like how many is an infraction? How long is it going to be before you get rolled back if you "broke the rule"? Because evidently the "exploit" has been known for some time...and I can understand why folks might be irritated if you roll back a roster where someone loses weeks of legitimate play...They're not going to give you a number, because that's just telling people how much to safely exploit it. If they're setting the cutoff at 5000, for example, there are players who will do it 4999 times.
The last time we had a big exploit (the time travelers) it required some serious shenanigans to do. Users were clearly doing something nefarious to get extra stuff.
This time is very different. The devs botched this rollout out magnificently, the "exploit" is just turning the game on. And they've known that turning the game on was giving out tokens for weeks and haven't done anything about it. That's all on them and not on the playerbase.
If someone grinded by turning their phone off and on 5000 times I don't honestly care. Those players are already way past the "having a life" portion of the player base and are most likely folks that normal players aren't encountering in the wild anyway.
I'm more put off by the implication that this is somehow the userbase's fault when the devs created every step of the problem. And not just this one problem that benefits users but dozens of other non user friendly bugs. Said next to nothing about those bugs but had a mini tirade against "exploits" that they failed to fix.
The most absurd thing is that this is some stupid scalar ambiguous definition where someone is going to randomly determine what "egregious farming" means "based on normal play"
So it's fine for the person that shield hops PVP to essentially farm all 3 stores each day because that's their "normal" play to cache the game a couple dozen times a day??? But those of us that have played for years and have all but given up on the game because, ya know, the devs have let the game languish endlessly for an overpromised and underdelivered garbage new engine get just a couple extra tokens???
Sorry, but miss me with that ****. The whole absurdly wrong analogies to "stealing from the bank" would go something like this:
We know our ATM's are giving an extra $20/withdrawal. It's OK for Richie Rich to get an extra $1,000/day because Richie Rich makes 50 withdrawals a day. But, John McBrokedik only normally withdraws once or twice a day, so he can only get an extra $40...anything else is unethical and stealing???That's completely insane. That's my issue with the whole ambiguous post. What are the parameters? Why is it ok for John Smith to get an extra couple hundred tokens across however long it takes to patch this known issue? Like if this has been known for weeks, you kind of have to assume it'll take weeks for them to patch, no?

It’s never the player base fault when they exploit the game. Accountability is never forthcoming- nearly always abuse and deflection. The closest anybody has come to saying “Sorry yeah I did this and it was wrong” is @Dianetics above.
**** sake I am going all Hound here. Time to have another lunch break!

I love the entitledbucket response of "roll them back or give me 1000 or 4999 free tokens"
Getting free tokens requires absolutely no manipulation or ill-intent of any kind. Any time you open the app and play, you get one. If you want 1000 or 4999 tokens or any number in between, just open the app and play that many times. Can you perform this action with ill-intent? Absolutely. But does it REQUIRE it? No, and that's where the issue is.
If the devs don't want the game to give a free token any time you open it and play, it is their job to fix it. If they roll back any players and that player loses ANY progress earned through purchases or play, the devs are crooks. While they may not be in violation of their own terms of use statement, they may very well be in violation of app store policies or certain consumer laws throughout the world (the EU is particularly strict).
It just occurred to me that I may have misspelled the player's name at the beginning of my post. Hopefully everyone can connect the dots.

So to summarise:
“I cheated and it’s the Devs and Entrailbuckets fault!”
And we are back from lunch!

Ill intent is doing it on purpose. Just so you know, I am 99% sure they know the difference between a force close of the app by a person and one where the game crashes or something else forces it to happen (I know software we write at my company can tell the difference).
As I said a page or so ago, if you play your normal play pattern (say it's 50 matches a day) you are doing nothing wrong. If you alter it specifically to take advantage to farm tokens (deliberately closing the app between each match or playing WAY more matches esp tapping trivial nodes) then you are going to get rolled back and deservedly so. They aren't crooks for doing that and in fact are protecting the rest of the player base who isn't trying to exploit this.

yeah. Catching doubles for pvp point generation requires an app reset in alot of situations. Is that considered egrecious? (sorry spelling) I thought they specifically said they would support and allow allot of the community "infrastructure" to continue to exist and evolve?
I don't even think "normal patterns of play" is an applicable standard. Simply because alot of play patterns exist to farm deadpool points /spicy tokens.
Specifically, how many people play 3* dp to fill up deadpool points? How many play 5* to stock up on spicy? as part of their normal deadpool daily? Does anyone else change their DDQ partners to fulfill daily quests?
So there is no such thing as a normal pattern of play (and I specifically have NO ISSUES with play a match, reset the app, play a match) If they want to stop the behavior, they are free to change the app behavior and mechanics. I remember ISO skip tax was specifically implemented to disincentivize skipping to find ques. I remember they changed point regeneration to stop pve tapping. No one has said the devs aren't free to change the game implementation to suit their business objectives. No one has denied them the ability to carte blanche ban players and accounts at their whim.
But don't ever let that reality detract from the truth. They shipped a bug riddled release (as acknowledged by sokun in SS) and objectively no longer have any fine grain control on how their game economy or servers work. They've leaked out a ton of game resources due to not implementing any software fixes because either no manpower, resources, or apathy. and are now issues ban threats on vague and poorly defined standards.
Honestly self inflicted wound? When did Discord become an Official source of truth? and if it is, never forget the cardinal rule of Social Media. Screenshots live forever.

Wouldn't go that far
There's still the issue that some players through "normal" play are going to get more tokens than other players. The distribution is not going to be equal.

The community bootlicking is absolutely hilarious. I'm laughing so hard since the Unity launch.
Imagine a completely fictitious, hypothetical situation where the devs roll a player back, that players loses items that they purchased, and that player exercises their rights under app store policies or consumer protection laws in their country of residence.
The devs would end up in either legal deposition or arbitration, having to state on the record and potentially under oath, that the reason they removed purchased items from this player's account is because they created a reward that thwy intended to be rewarded only once per day, but due to their own errors caused it to be rewarded any time a user opened the app and played a battle.
"B b b bu but but this player MALICOUSLY opened the app and played battles"
"If opening the app and playing battles is malicious activity, how would you define the intended activity of your users?"
"T t t t to to open the app and play battles in a different manner"
Call Netflix we're pitching a new legal drama!

Less than 100, since I only had access because global UNITY day happened only 24hr ago.
and since he technically did ask us to stop. I'll personally respect the ask.But that is why their rollback threat is meaningless to the ios/Android population. Are they gonna roll us back to before Steam Unity release? If all they can do is rollback to ios and Android release. Then we are only talking 24-36 hrs???
Objectively this is so easy to critique. Why invite so much disruption? It was a passive aggressive post on an "official comms " channel. not a private discussion or dm. Anyway, they should stand behind their post or apologize and move on.
the company did it for "your supposed to lose"
The other manager made public apologies for his gaffe.
Time for the author of the post to double down, or apologize and move on to fixing the app vs issuesing player threatsFinal observation

I can't tell if you are just trolling or truly ignorant of how a mass rollback to "address" this would work.
This issue has been reported and documented and live for steam users on unity for several weeks now. Unity launched on mobile yesterday and the issue is still present on mobile.
Assume the devs did a rollback of all "exploited" accounts tomorrow. They would reset all affected accounts to a previous saved state at a point in time before the "exploitation". If the players purchased anything in that time (again several weeks for steam users), those purchase would be gone. Not to mention any progress earned through playing during that time, which has no monetary value but is certainly of importance to the players.
