Getting bored

how is it any fun if its the same team in pvp even if i hit skip 50 times ''
I'm not sure how you're playing, but it seems that I don't usually start to run into the same teams repeatedly until after a dozen or so wins (and most certainly around 20 wins) - not right off the bat. Even then, I will take a run at them and the loss seems to knock me down in points enough to see more variety again. To be clear, I play strictly for progression (although I did inexplicably place 1st on one occasion during a Cyclops PVP), so the loss of points is no big deal if it gets me out of the clone zone.
While I understand how droll it is to see the same teams appear over and over, your point about that seems to have been overshadowed by the near-constant criticism of other aspects of the game, both here and elsewhere on the forum. And I can't help but wonder, like so many others have, why doesn't Mr. Complainy-Pants just quit playing already?
I've been there myself, in another game called Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast. There was an Arena mode that was notorious for seeing the same defense teams over and over because some players were obsessed with high weekly rankings. It got old, so I stopped doing Arena battles and focused on story mode and events. Eventually, chasing the latest new thing got old as well, and I stepped off of my own free will - without griping about it on the game forums.
I returned after a while, but the time away did me good, and there was a whole bunch of things to do that had piled up during that time. So seriously, consider taking a break from MPQ if it bothers you so much. You clearly have a lot on your plate outside of the game (you could probably tone down on the oversharing as well), so maybe some time away might help put things into perspective for you.
Now I am not trying to tell you what to do, I haven't the foggiest idea who you are on the other side of that screen, or how important this game is to you. But this conversation keeps going in circles, where someone makes a suggestion and you reply with an excuse why that won't work for you or how it is still not good enough for you or whatever whatever whatever. I am just saying that maybe it is time you had a nice long conversation with yourself and figure out what you really want from this game - and if you cannot find that, then you should probably move on to something else.
In closing, if you do choose to stay, and I seriously hope you do, maybe add something funny or interesting to the conversation instead of the usual grumblings, and maybe Ghost Rider won't have to drag you to a fear dimension with his hellfire chain.

Soon as I start it's either 550 juggie teams with sam. Or thor with chi
Wheb I say 0. Mostly just skipping the pvp. I joined today and what I see. Those same teams as soon as starting
I do have 550 boosted but it's just boring having to fit the same teams
About stepping away over this past 3 months did big time
From 12 wins per pvp. Now to mostly not playing one match
Pve from doing all easy clears to get 3 free tokens to mostly none
I think the biggest problem is now I got most of my 1s to 550. And know it will be years before getting 2 to 4 there there is mostly nothing to chase. (I do have some. 234 rank at 5 ) That is why bored
About opening up the ll and getting more or spending the cp. I will do that if a new 5 star I want (did spend 5k cp going after someone before so if they did release someone like that those co go fast). Or even releasing a 6 star those cp will be spent fast
Do they give you free levels in season pass. Haven't played that much yet I'm rank 53
Teams use
Pvp most 1 550 and random 2ndPve. I don't a problem playing that is wanted. 5 star aunt may 528 with Emma to boost may. Round 1 with the 3 plus 1. Gives 100k hit to all don't think I got a faster team then that
I just don't see how people are saying 30 mins to end in first place. I used that team and took me around 15 to 20 mins just to do 4 clears in each now. (Maybe I'm clucking slower. That would be an hour doing 4. Clears
About same teams. That does don't work for me either when I was playing pvp and then had all the same teams. Even if I lost 3 times in row. Those same teams would be only ones I get

Players are not going to stop playing meta teams. Your options are find ways to beat them or don't. The Devs are not going to announce when they release a character that you spend your hoard on. So if you are playing that strategy accept that is on you and you are stunting your game progress gambling on a future pay off that might not happen.
You have the resources to do literally anything you want. Why not get Aunt May to 550 and compete in PvE ( you will still not win) as best you can? Why not get your own 550 Sam and Juggs if you don't have them?
I imagine 30 minutes for 1st place is a possibility rather than a guarantee, maybe don't fixate on it? 1st place takes more than just that unless you can find some lucky flip that remember other players are searching for too.
MMR is not going to change.
Why would 6* improve things? You would then still be left in the situation you are in now as not being able to get placement you want for the easy ride unless you can outspend others. You want an easy competitive advantage but you already have it with 550 characters but still want to play on easy mode.

Oh right, forgot to mention the Bracket Updates on Discord that announce when flips happen! They're really important!

No someone said they took first place by only playing 30 mins of pve and was shocked it was that low. When I did play pve it was never for rank neither is pvp. Was saying I couldn't believe you could take first for that little time
I'm slowly getting my 5 star may to 550 opening up packs. Same with sam juggie (got juggie as fav after getting Polaris up to 5). I'm pretty my aunt may right now could do zero wins up to 2 or 3 clears on each node if I wanted to
Am not sure where this EASY RIDE came from. Don't care about rewards I just like chance to play different freaking teams and have fun instead of being crushed by turn 5
How the hell do I have advantage when I'm still fighting nothing but 550 same team
How would 6 stars do anything. It would give me something to chase. Just like when I got the 450 1 stars I had something to chase to get them to 550Really can't do that with 2 3 4. Since basic tokens only give 1s.
Maybe if the started handing out in mission mode more 2 star tokens. That would give me something to chase
I do a 4 star ant man getting ready to rank up to 5. Just need 6 more covers

Maybe try changing the time slice you play, because your experience is wildly different from mine and we should have the same MMR.
I play in slice 2 and join sometime when there's a bit less than 2 days left in the event. I see mostly pretty easy teams from 0 to 600. Mthor teams, polaris teams, 1a5 teams. Usually in the lvl 480 range and usually with low level supports.
From 600 to 800 or 900 i start seeing the jugg/sam teams but usually I can still find other teams.
Over 900 I start only being able to see the 672 boosted teams. This week I'm seeing a lot of Wong and Dark beast and some 1a5 juggernaut, some 5 star kamala khan, 5 star prof x and even morbius. I myself have been using 1a5 juggernaut and 2a5 storm.
I do not see the wall of everyone running the same meta teams that you describe.
0 -
I see the wall slide sees, and I even see those teams from 0, but there are usually other options until a certain points threshold (800ish). Then, it's pretty much SamJugg all day long unless there's a stronger 672/boosted option for people to mess with.
The Deadpool PVP that just ran was almost exclusively SamJugg teams with a few 672 1a5 Jugg teams thrown in for good measure. I didn't see a single Kamala or Morbius. Saw maybe 2 Dark Beasts. Wong and Prof X showed up a few times.
But, yeah, every match worth taking, points-wise, was just SamJugg teams. Worked out for me, because I just picked on them with Thorlaris. Finished 2nd, for what it's worth.

I normally use Grocket/Juggs/Polaris (all ascended in the 470s) for the pick 3 nodes, Grocket/Polaris for the pick 2, and the EyeM4Kang cheese team for the CN. There are faster teams than that but it requires little thinking. Some nodes might benefit from switching teams if they are anti-polaris but most of the time they die quickly if you target the right character.
The cheese team on the CN probably saves a bunch of time, regardless of who you're facing. I'll have to try that sometime.
Could you help me understand what is meant by cheese team? I've seen that in various definitions and not sure exactly what it means in this context. Thanks!
I think the cheese teams are the alternate win condition teams like KangVeil or Coulson + Multiple Man. For challenge nodes, these wins can come a lot quicker than trying to melt through all the hit points.
ETA: Hey, in the Deadpool PVP, I think I punched at @Borstock with my KangVeil cheese team. I figure you squashed me back in the retaliation so quickly you wouldn't have even noticed.

The original post referenced:
"EyeM4Kang cheese team"I'm assuming this is 5-star Hawkeye, Multiple Man, and 5-star Kang. This team doesn't win by knocking all of the enemies down to zero health, but either by sending all of them away via Kang's blue, or (far more likely) getting a bunch of Multiple Man tiles on the board. Starting off with +2 All AP makes this pretty easy, provided your characters are high enough levels to survive a couple of hit backs from the 650 enemies..

I just joined slice 2 pvp with about 1 day and 9 hours left. These are the teams I saw on my climb from 0 to 700 in 550 MMR. If you're looking for more variety, consider joining slice 2 and seeing how it works out for you...

I try that next time. Thanks for all the help and input

I believe that reference was to 5-star Hawkeye, 3-star Iron Man, and Kang. That cheese team works when you start with enough AP to throw Iron Man's yellow. Hawkeye will then fortify the countdowns, and when they resolve, you should have enough blue AP to send everyone away.

+2 Blue AP, +2 All AP, and +2 Yellow AP. Throw on some supports for Yellow AP so he can cast it first turn, and activate Recharge if it triggers.
End of Turn 1 - 4 Blue, 3 countdowns
End of Turn 2 - 3 Fortified countdowns
End of Turn 3 - Countdowns go off. Assuming none of them have been matched/destroyed, that's +12 Blue AP from a 3-star Iron Man Ascended to 4-stars. Hawkeye gives you +9 for +21 blue that turn. This gives you 25 Blue AP.Kang's 3xAway is 27 blue. If you make a blue match at some point (or have a +X blue AP support that also triggers), it should work.
Do you just retreat if the yellow doesn't trigger?

Greatly appreciate the info.
I guess a follow up question: what the heck is the definition of a "cheese" team? Not who is in it, but what a "cheese team" actually means. The answers above seem to vary all over and not certain what makes a team cheese? I am baffled at this point.

I'd define it as a team that can win against any opponent on offense but presents zero resistance on defense. Not just a team that loses on defense (that's almost all of them!) but one that's so weak that it dies to a few matches.

Oh no, not another debate like "what constitutes a meta team?". This thread will never ever die.

Re @sambrookjm 's breakdown of how the Hawkeye-IM-Kang cheese team works, Kang also gains 2 blue AP for each countdown expiring. So that's the remaining 6 AP you need to triple fire Kang's blue.
I don't use that team, but I would assume that yes, you would just retreat if the yellow AP supports don't fire.
As for the definitions of a cheese team, for me, it's mainly just limited to Kang and Multiple Man's alternate win conditions.
On a broader level, I feel like cheese teams are more like one trick ponies that rely on exploiting a single thing. I remember when I first started playing, people bemoaning Shang Chi-eese teams; I would think that firing a turn 0 winfinite with the new Moonstone would also qualify.

Yes it was. I used the "Eye" from Hawkeye instead of the "I" from IM40.
You can use Sanctum and SP//DR on Hawkeye and IM40 and Caps shield on Kang for up to 15 Yellow AP on turn 1. I tend not to bother using Boosts because it's rare that you don't get 6 but often you get 12. I tend to match a blue anyway just in case.
I think cheese teams are those that you can win easily and quickly with by circumventing the normal win conditions.

I believe the official name for this team was "Blue Man Group."
I hate the babytalk mashup names, proper combos need proper names!
