New PVP Reward Structure

So let me get this straight. We are going to uber reward the top 5, who most of the time have the covers any way, or they couldn't get to the top five. We are going to reward the top 51-100 with a 3* cover. But we are going to shaft the top 11-25 by decreasing hp to 50?!?!?!

First, shield hopping is the main way people are going to get the top 5. So for the next event, who is in the best position to shield hop again...the ones who got top 5 last tournament. The ones that got close 11 and below, well why would they ever need to be able to sniff the top 10?

Why can't we go back to the old structure that worked before all this tweaking? And really, is this really the most important thing for MPQ to be doing with its apparently limited resources?

How many characters still have only 2 abilities? How many times do lightning rounds run late? How many times are there "internet connection problems"?

But this, the reward structure of the PVP's, this is where they should put all their time and effort...really?

It'd be a shame if they fixed the last update that let's their app keep running when I close it and draining my battery and cpu usage because they would not be able to have the resources to fix the more important things like the color of the critical tile.


Edit * Good point by Slarow. In my Hulk Rage, I totally missed the extra cover. Yea, 50 hp is a very small price to pay for an extra cover. *

  • It DOES allow people without alliances to get a full set of covers though.... which is a good thing. Hard to expect them to increase the overall amount of rewards given out because they have been doing the opposite for ages. So a reduction in Hp for one band of players doesn't seem like the worst thing to get some otherwise decent changes.

    I can see the frustration though.....
  • They also added 50HP to the progression rewards, so top 11-25 get the same as before, and people above that get 50 extra. Also, more covers is always good, even at the top people haven't maxed everyone, especially when new characters are added. Plus now there is an extra token in progression rewards which helps everyone, not just the top.

    Lol...I feel I should just delete this entire thread now. The new progressive rewards more than make up for any changes (100 hp and two event tokens now).

    Err, Ice disclosed they have a 23-people team. Those who are in the field know it's a huge amount. Teams 1/3 that size can manage codebase and scope 5 times they have.

    Their resources are limited mainly by incompetency and will to do the right thing, not numbers or money.
  • The net result of this change is that there isn't much incentive to shield for HP if you didn't need the cover in the first place. Before at 25th or above you can think of getting a 50 HP discount (because you're going to fall out of 25 if you're not shielded almost certainly) and now that's no longer true. It's probably a good thing because using shields to make HP is probably not the kind of thing you want to encourage people to do (should be using shields to try to get covers).

    My only complaint is that 500 iso is no longer the progression reward for 50 points and was completely removed at 500 points, but at least the 700 point reward is now 1000 iso instead of 500. Not a perfect trade, but I'll live.

    Category 5 is (I think - not using google here) the highest category (in the rating scale) for a hurricane. So, they are trying to be clever by naming Storm's PvP the highest rating for a storm.

  • Seems like a response to all the Alliance/Seasons burnout that has happened in the past 30 days. Instead of just quitting the game, people can 'retire' back to being a more casual player but still getting covers they need.

    I was just getting at how that we are given another cover reward for a possible 4 covers per pvp to help the non top 100 and people still manage to complain about something..sigh
  • Quite happy with these changes, first time I've said that about major changes in this game for a while. Thanks D3/Demiurge, this is a good step!
