Good Morning Forum members

I am looking for some feedback/suggestions over what people would do/advise to do if they received a gift of the asgard treasure.

my girlfriend has been playing MPQ for longer than me (even got me into it) she is a causal player (will sometimes reach top 50 in the pvp that she plays) and has not invested any £ in the game, however she is the unluckiest player when pulling tokens (the 2 x 10 packs from the seasons only brought her 1 x 3*) as a result she is struggling to build up any 3 *'s with Hulk (5/1/1) Punisher (4/2/1) and GSBW (2/1/2) being her most covered 3*'s (as a result she has leveled all of her 2*'s (even Moonstone!!!) and now has nothing to spend any iso on (30 rosters slots in total)

what I am going to do is to buy here the asgard treasure (8900hp) to help her along her way (and for generally being an awesome girlfriend)

what I am putting out there to the forums is what would you spend the 8900hp on? would you target individual covers for 1250 a pop to get 1 or maybe 2 3*'s more covered or would you take a punt and maybe purchase 89 HT's (giving the % chance or the 3*'s you would expect to get around 15) or would you do something else all together>

I would never use this HP in tokens. If she wants to max any 3* it is better to use this HPs buying the exact covers she needs (Punisher is the best candidate, you could max him with 6 covers -> 7500HPs and he is a very good 3* character). If you use this HP for tokens, even if you are very lucky you will get some 3* covers but you will not max anyone at all, so you will spend this money 'for nothing'.

But in the end, if you are a casual player, the transition to 3* is very very difficult right now. There are two many 3* characters. She needs to start winning the 3* covers that she wants in the events they are featured, this is very important.
  • Buy the individual covers. I suggest Punisher. He works very well with OBW and will get you into the 3* cover prizes in most events.

The tokens are just too random. You could blow thousands of hp and not get anything useful.

Buying covers is definitely the better bet (and Punisher's green is the best option you've got) but personally I'd probably grab a couple of event tokens and try for a few covers you're missing completely too.
  • Tokens truly are a terrible deal. They're basically worthless unless you're trying to build up a 2* roster, at which point you want to restrict yourself to the tokens you can win in events. Spending hero points on them is a total wash. Never ever buy them.

In your gf's case, how big is her roster? From my experience, the best use for hero points is roster slots and shields. If she's got a big roster, then maybe spend a little HP on covers, but save some for shields so she can do well in PvP. Oh, and one other thing... Don't don't don't don't focus entirely on one 3* character. If you end up with one 141 and a bunch of 85s, you get sharded into the same brackets as the guys with several 141s, and that doesn't end well for you. At all.

her roster size is currently 30 but this includes a couple of 1*'s that she could sell if needed (IM) she has around 1100hp already in the bank that could be used for shielding a new roster slots

you make a good point about not focusing on 1 3* and maxing to 141 (I have been slowly leveling Hood/Pun to 100, then 105 and so forth so not to end up with just 1 3* maxed out)
  • Yeah... Tokens are just awful. A good 90% of the time you get something completely useless.

i think its the gambler in me (keen poker player) that would suggest the token route, there is the chance of getting nothing good, but then there is a chance of the planets aligning and pulling a decent amount of 3*'s, however history says that it will be a lot of bagman

It's still bad even if you 'get lucky'. There is a selection of 21+ 3 star characters that it could be, further watering down her odds of building a character, some of which are rather limp (DD, Loki, Spiderman).

On top of that, it takes up to 9-10 covers of a specific character to even put them in a useable state. Even if she got insanely lucky and pulled 5 Lazy Thor covers, he would still be on the bench.

May have seen in other posts but the week before last, I spend 70K iso on 140 standard tokens. I didnt get any 3*s and only got less than 10 2*s. Even if you could convert 8900 HP into 89 tokens (you can't btw) you would likely get 60 Moonstone/Bagman. Best to convert the colors you want and bank the rest for shielding. IMO.

She is much better off buying covers. I would even have her hold off a little on buying them becuase of the new reward structure in PVP and use the coin for shield hopping. With the chance for 1-4 covers each event plus another 2-3 in PVE she could generate a lot of covers quickly. Also if she buys the covers and levels up too fast she could go into MMR hell and the game might not be as fun. If she wants buy 1 or too covers to round out a character like Punisher.

I have a small handfull of 3** around 100 and I think my roster is about to sky rocket with the new reward system.

This is a nice sentiment. But instead how about you tell her that she is an awesome girlfriend, support her while she is making a pvp run, don't complain about her silly game and take that money and spend it on a nice meal together. Preferably during an event lull.
  • Tokens are for people bad at math or more money than they know what to do with.

    so much this icon_e_smile.gif
  • Let's presume kingdon knows better which his girlfriend will prefer rather than people unconnected to them. Also, if he has money to burn on MPQ, i doubt a dinner out is an either/or situation.
  • Something I'm not sure that others have mentioned is that even if you get a bunch of 3 stars by buying that many tokens, you probably won't get more than 1-2 covers of each. Other than "required nodes" for PVE having anything less than 9-10 covers of a 3 star is pretty useless, compared to having a max level 2 star. Whichever decent 3 star she has (not Loki/Daredevil), she should add some covers to, maybe not full covers just yet in case she gets more off of event tokens.

Buy enough 3* covers so the character's max level is over 100 and then level the character until you run out of ISO. If you hit the max level and have more HP, then buy another cover and continue leveling the character. I suggest buying covers this way because you may pull a cover you need from a token while you are leveling the character. This happened to me with Lazy Cap.

I have spent roughly $200 on HP. I have bought a 10 pack of tokens and only pulled a bunch of 2*. That was a horrible feeling.

I have been spending money on HP to buy covers as I level my characters and find that to be very gratifying. The grind is just way too long in the past to get enough 3* covers. This game really begins to be most fun when you do finally start playing regularly with two 3* on your team.

Have not fear on this one, I will be taking her out for a nice meal (or over indulgent take-away (her choice) as part of this complete with some flowers (Although can not longer get her favorites (lilies) as we have just gotten a kitten) and a few items from her Amazon wish-list that she has been eyeing up for months.

If you'd go and buy the tokens, I'd love to gamble with you.

Yes, there is a chance either way, but it's roughly:

80% chance for a totally useless two star
20% chance to get a three star - and since there are 20 different characters, there are 60 different covers you could pull.

The chances are not equal. It's a losing decision. Gambling is about playing the odds, not just always going for the longshot and hoping things will work you. You need to know when to walk away, and when to stop throwing good money after bad.
  • Setting aside the fact I'm a 38yr old married man, I'd love to be given 9000hp for being a great girlfriend.

All in all I'd suggest minimum spend on covers or tokens and instead use it on shields (starting late in the event to minimise shield use) and she'll eventually get some great covers through gameplay. 8900hp is a hell of a lot of shields when you take into account HP gained from PvP and PvE rewards - easily 2 or 3 months worth imo.

Good man. I also hope all this banter delayed you enough so that you got to take advantage of the sale.
