The second half of the Tower is set with characters well above Level 600.
How the heck do They expect most players to be able to beat them and be able to get the better rewards.
Why would you create a PvE experience that only rewards the players that already have the best characters & supports and don't really need the prizes.
That is what PvP is for.

Not exactly a great way to encourage new players to hang around.
I've been playing for almost 7 years now and I struggled to get past the third tier.
So I decided that I'm not going to waste my resources to even try doing the rest.
    (never mind even starting over)

Counter point: those that have put in the work to fill out their roster should be rewarded for the effort. It's unreasonable for a player with a less developed roster to expect to earn the same rewards as a more developed roster. It simply isn't objective. I get better rewards than you because I can outperform you. That's life. Bucket gets better rewards than I do in PVP because he can outperform me there. That's reality.

Outperforming is probably not the right wording here. That makes it sound like it's skill based. Instead its roster based in that strongest rosters have an easier time.

As I mentioned pages ago, this event is like the old Gauntlet PvE where only the strongest rosters were meant to finish everything. It's essentially a gauge of how far developed your roster is.

Why can't it be skill based? If you find a team to punch up for example? Assuming you also aren't limiting what you can do yourself which is self defeating.

It's like motor racing - a better car will make you more likely to win, but the driver can be the deciding factor.

I remember an old thread I created like "Is there skill in MPQ" and there were a bunch of different definitions people had for it.

I think we both overrate and underrate the impact of player skill on winning. Team selection is (often, but not always) not skill. Most players find a good team that others use then copy it -- which is fine! -- but you're just copying somebody else's work.

There are a few players innovating on here or Line or Reddit or whatever, and some of them aren't any of those places at all (or anywhere, that I know of). Occasionally I'll lose in PvP to something low level that's crazy and have to try to reconstruct whatever that player did.

Match-3 skill is a thing, but in this game that manifests as match-3 speed. Sometimes I watch gameplay videos from other players and I'm floored by how long it takes them to move, or how long they take working out the "best" move.

Edit: this sounds like I'm the World's Fastest MPQ player, and oh man I am not. I've seen videos made by some of the real crazies and they are unbelievable.

Perhaps I should have said “because I can complete missions more efficiently because I have a more developed roster and experience with that roster” instead of “outperform”. I was attempting to be succinct. People will interpret based on their perspective though.

This repeat of an event is brought to you by unity.
Unity, apparently an upgrade of the old engine and the end of unwieldy coding and the start of bringing new and enjoyable content and most definetly not putting stuff up that existed before.
So when people ask why has this game burst into flames and there's chaos on a daily basis?, You tell them its Unity.
Software of today that works like it was made the same time as the zx spectrum.

Also it's not a tower it's a gradual slope going down when in all other games you go up.

zx spectrum games were not that bad... main issue I recall is the unreliable tapes that made the game unloadable with no path of recovery

Exactly. Just like if two banks are giving the same interest rate, the one who cooks the better burger comes out on top.

I thought it was the free burgers that made the bank come out on top?

Could be. Honestly, I forgot where we left off in the bank burger battle of 2025.

Nice try, you will not draw me into this again

In other news, I may have a cover for galactus once I've reached the bottom of the tower (dont get me started on that either)
I am expecting that this will improve my enjoyment by 100% having such a game changer on my roster.

I predict your enjoyment shall increase by 0.8% followed by a spike. Subject to changes, depending on which coloured cover you choose.

Careful, you don’t want the devs to bring back THE GAUNTLET.

The trouble is, if you’re enjoyment is in the negative (which I’m assuming it is from recent comments) Galactus will actually double your misery.
Might I suggest not rostering him?

What madness is this? You have to roster everyone dont you? I remember someone got quite unhinged when asked such a question. Cant remember who it was..

Sure, that’s the herd mentality (and mine), but just trying to consider your mental wellbeing here.
It could be argued I should know my audience and that issue is long since moot 🤪

Just because Galactus sucks now (according to you fine folks) doesn't mean he might always? I don't have a cover yet but if I did then I would have a cover. That butterfly ripple effect could make it so 3* Vision is good in some reality but not before we collect those 6* shards. Or something. My wife is watching Friends again.

I am, quite frankly, floored that the forum consensus is that a new character is terrible/worthless. This never happens. Generally everyone reads a new character's powers on paper and decides they're the best ever before they play with them.

I agree, definitely don't chase Galactus, he's terrible!

I dont think hes useless, am I concerned I might die from old age before I get him fully covered? Yup.
