A bunch of buffs happened

The announcement thread for this announced a bunch of other stuff, so I figured we could use a thread to talk about all the characters who got buffed today (and there are a ton of them!).

2* Moonstone got a complete rework and is really really strong now.

2* Captain America got his yellow cost reduced but still seems pretty bad.

A lot of the others seem to just be numbers increases, which is cool but generally not super impactful. There are so many buffs that I bet there's something else neat in there, though.

I would like a list of all the buffed characters and exactly WHAT was buffed. The reason I ask is because I know that Captain America Steve Rogers was supposed to get buffed as was Hawkeye and I have both at max champion level of 550 and I don't see anything different about them whatsoever. They both have the same amount of health as before. They both have the same amount of match damage as before. I am not seeing the differences. Can someone point out what the differences in all the buffed characters was supposed to be? And why does Hawkeye have 90k health at level 550???? You would think if they were going to buff him, surely they'd raise his health to around 150k. What happened with his buff?

1* Hawkeye's abilities are 5AP now. Think they were 8 and 6 before?

2* Cap was 19/11/12 AP before and is now 10/9/9.

Think the numbers that have changed are largely AP costs more notably than damage but I don't have all the before costs to Co firm against.

I stayed awake to look through some of these last night:

    • Hawkeye1 should be an infinite machine now, like... interestingly easy / good.
    • Drax red actually seems ok strong (if they are full health), and might be able to find a fun sap partner for his cheap pink.
    • Bong... only increased his heal percentage? That's what it feels like (I was most excited for him) :disappointed:.
    • Peg... oool Peg, she might actually be ok to counter charge tiles now, I'll test a little ASAP.
    • Devil Dino got damage buffs, eh, still bad.
    • Captain reduced cost and slight number buff, still wouldn't use em.
    • Jeff, maaybe a heal percentage and minuscule number buff?

Did these ones actually change?? Doesn't seem like it.

    • Miles? I just looked at his abilities a few hours before the buff, and I didn't see anything better.
    • Iron man
    • Peni

I would like to apologize for any damage my over enthusiastic support in the other thread may have caused. I did not mean to artificially inflate anyone else's expectations for these "buffs" being better.

I will continue to look for other hidden value here, but my hopes have also been thoroughly dashed. At least they actually nerfed Polaris I suppose.

I think Moonstone's Control Shift was 10 or more AP before. I also think it only affected protect and attack tiles (weirdly missing strike). It now hits all 3 types for just 6 AP. Compares fairly well to Loki's 11 AP Trickery but still highly unlikely to see high level play.

Almost completely certain that the purple used to cost more too. That's pretty decent damage in the event of no SAP tiles too. Not sure if it's an increase as none of her abilities were worth paying attention to before. Not sure what team she would work on though?

I mean, 370,000 damage at lvl 672 is complete insanity, especially given that it costs 6AP and there are multiple +6 purple supports. This might be the biggest single target hit in the game?

You don't really need a team...bring +12 purple and you basically instakill 2/3 of the enemy team turn 0.

But not Galactus EB, he’s here to thwart the dreams of greatness for 2* moonstone.
I guess she’s got a brief time to shine before people get covers for him. Go get ‘em EB!

Thanks for the notes EB and others. Poor 2cap, yes his costs were reduced, and that's great ... but his red dmg is still laughably bad. He does roughly 1/8th his own health as dmg for 9AP. 72AP for a kill. Compare that to other damage powers. on recent chars. Is not the purpose of a buff to bring a char up to date?

His best use now is as a protect spammer/overwriter. Paired with ELectro and Betsy Braddock vs AoE meta, devastating. He's purely defensive, tactical, puzzle-y, great for slow long matches vs tile makers. WHich can be a lot of fun, just not what the posters we hear from are generally looking for.

And now .... 3Cap looks weird. Why's he so expensive? XD

    Looked at the rest:

    • Moonstone, yeah, her damage on pink and red, un boosted, is still very, very... very strong. Even her black was good at 4star - 6 black to steal 8 SAPs, 5 star drops to 4 SAP though.
    • Pepper Potts looks playable / fun, but only if you know what you're doing / situational.
    • I like IronPeggy's red and yellow now, not high tier, but could be fun.
    • Sentry and Rags may as well have not changed, if they did at all.

So, I suppose 2.5 - 6 out of 15 are, notable? Could be worse??

    • Moonstone = crazy, what the hell happened here?
    • Hawkeye = perhaps one of the easiest to start infinite supports
    • Peggy's both could have value, but need testing
    • Potts and Drax I will check ASAP, but can't justify the ISO for them yet.
    • Everyone else... ran out of time? Maybe they lied. I still like Bong because he is a cool character, but he deserved more.

The fact that they made the 1 and 2 star buffs the best ones is definitely a good look for anyone hurt by Polaris. They could easily level them up and start fighting.

Moonstone is the winner here, by a million miles.

I'll mess around with some of the others but I'm not seeing much else. Everyone's numbers did change (I think?) but I don't see any other game changers. Buffs are always welcome though, even just these numbers increases...these guys will all be essential eventually.

(Oh yeah, very much looking forward to the next time Moonstone shows up in PvE with Hammer goons that feed purple)

I shudder to think of facing 2* Moonstone now... Some PVE nodes have her at pretty high level...

2a5 cap is still pretty useless

Clint might be unstoppable now.(if you can place his Crist and row removal well)

Just a few test runs to get a feel for him and complete some quests... Once either of his powers are fired I just keep loosing arrows until the match is done. And you can shape the board how you want it as you go.

I'm stoked because I'll get to use the classic version of my favorite comics character more.

As for concerns about Dr. Sofen (Moonstone) she can't hit you if Clint puts her down before the goons can feed her. But I'm excited to use her as well.
