As far as I understand, there are currently three groups:

    • players on the old engine. They have not manually updated to Unity and are not forced to do so. They don’t have the lag, heating, and bugs obviously. And they can get daily tokens for the vaults. But it’s not clear if at one point things start breaking down for them. Interestingly, Avalon’s yellow works as intended for this group…

    • players on Unity and fully updated. They have either manually or auto-updated the latest hotfix. This group has a working roster filter. They do not get daily vault tokens anymore. Avalon’s yellow doesn’t swap health.

    • players on Unity that did not update the hotfix. I believe, but am not sure, this third group exists. Or at least it did on Monday. They did not receive the Data Push that is the topic of this thread. And they did not update to the latest patch. This group still has the bugged roster filter, and can still get daily tokens (that’s what is frustrating me). Avalon’s yellow is broken.

So my question was about group three. If it still exists (I think so), why did they not get the Data Push to turn off daily tokens (this thread’s topic)? Are data pushes no longer working? Again, I might be wrong about this, but Discord made me believe group three exists.

But there is also is broader separate question about forcing updates to switch to Unity and to switch to the latest patch. That clearly isn’t working as intended.

Reading between the lines are you maybe suggesting there has been a way to avoid the update? If so then how could that be?

No reading between the lines: that is exactly what I am saying. Although LavaManLee posted elsewhere what he was forced to update today, so maybe my points about the first group are moot 🤷🏻‍♂️

Still think the data push didn’t work or didn’t go out as planned though.

Unfortunately, you are correct about my forced update. iPhone 16 and have Auto Update off. Was able to last with no update until today when I started the game, it was the new engine.

With these rewards being turned off currently, are the VIP renewal CP for alliances also not working?

I renewed earlier and my alliance did not receive the CP. I asked if anyone received and another alliance member informed me the same issue happened when he renewed.

No worries. I copied and posted this from a different thread:

The time came for my forced updated. Woke up this morning, opened MPQ and the new engine finally forced itself onto my iPhone 16. Spent 30 minutes during my morning walk doing a final clear and new clear of PvE and a little PvP. I'm going to try to skip over the bad and provide some good thoughts for me (again, running on an iPhone 16):

    • Graphics are sharp! Very clear and almost 3Dish.
    • Searching for a character now doesn't think every name I type is misspelled and try to autocorrect it. It's also easier to clear a name in the search engine.
    • Parts of the game speed are much faster. Resolving SAPs, switching waves, etc all seem a smidge faster. Real test will come when we get Mindless Ones.
    • My phone did not get hot nor did my battery go down in a noticeable manner.

I'll also add that loading the game is much faster than the old engine.

Overall it is sharper and faster. Much better than I thought it would be.

Group three exists. I was in that group until yesterday. After seeing the initial rollout, let's just say my desire to see what new stuff would be broken was less than high so I put it off until Monday morning. People in that group can PvE as normal and still have access to SHIELD SIM but do not see the new PvP. It doesn't populate in the Versus menu. So they can still play PvE, still receive tokens from the bug the devs created with Unity v1.0 and still have all the bugs that existed in that version. Instead of getting the new Welcome to SHIELD event they got the Aikku version along with tokens to that closed vault instead of the new Cap. Avalon vault.

Since I moved to Unity v1.1 the token bug no longer exists but a whole new crop of bugs have creeped in. Captain Avalon yellow is still bugged. Cover filter was fixed. Lag on PvP is almost gone but lag on PvE is just as bad as at launch of v1.0. In PvP I can't see anything but tiny rosters which is fine because I was able to take advantage of the newest bug and farmed 121 covers in 125 matches. Since hitting 125 matches the cover drop ratio seems to have normalized.

I can't see who is hitting me but I know I am visible to others in the slice through Line. Reds won't show unless it is a player I can queue, tested this out with both friends and rivals in the slice confirming results on Line. There are a couple of other players in my normal MMR who seem to have the same issue. Scoring in slice 4 is down from the usual levels because it is pretty much only 4-6 point matches being hammered over and over by the folks at the top of the LB. Some folks have finished over 400 matches since yesterday. Shields are still bugged so you can't tell how long you have left so most of the top players are just going unshielded and farming covers.

Battery drain seems a little worse with the update but my phone is definitely less overheated than on v1.0. Still way too hot if played for more than 20 minutes a clip but not the volcanic lava levels that 1.0 had that forced frequent shutdowns.

The cover filter being fixed is a big fix but applying covers is still very, very laggy.

My understanding is that the game is not forcing anyone to update unlike the old engine did when a new version came out.

Perhaps they haven't nailed down that functionality yet. Presumably they would want that to be something that happens.

As far as updating, if a user has auto-update on, obviously that would trigger an update but I presume (from my limited experience; I do not use it) it only checks periodically for updates since most apps do not bar you from using them if you don't have the newest version, not for quite a while. So maybe it updated over the weekend but not immediately etc.

Quick question. If you guys broke it in a day, just how long is it going to take for you to fix it?

It took a year or more to break it, lol.

If you think the game - which often has had persistent bugs for weeks or months or longer under the old engine - has the staff to quickly fix the giant mess that exists while continuing to run the game......let's just think about that a little bit.

Oh my bad. I meant that question for someone who could answer it. Not some rude 🤡

Sorry if I seemed rude to you.....My points were that the Unity engine was promised for a year or more to always be a few months away. So it was not broken in a day.

And that the game's dev staff has consistently seemed barely able to address lots of issues that have persisted even before the new engine blew everything up. Character bugs drag on. And then just lots of little things, not unusual at all to be incorrect randomly. Essentials wrong? PVP set up with the season banner when it was off season? etc.

Yeah, this game is mostly right and working consistently but it just seems like we're in for a long haul of waiting for a significantly better build.
