Unstable Iso-8 Changes

At least in sub 1, there are some new faces in the opposing crowd, most notably some of the newer 2* characters. Also, I don't recall scrolling past any dialogue scenes.

    New engine probably pretty close to being live. One of the reasons they always gave for not swapping characters in PvE was that the toolbox was too clunky and each had to be changed individually. Might be working with a better toolbox with a partial swap over to Unity now as they inch towards full go on the new engine.

    Even if individual characters were balanced and not over powered (and obviously they are not), we'd reach the heat death of the universe before all possible combinations of teams of 3 characters (more than 27 million combinations and counting) were balanced and not over powered.

    So hard pass.

    What if they put a button on the challenge node. You could do the regular challenge node with the team that's there. Or you could do an 'extra challenging' challenge node if you clicked the button. The extra challenging node would have teams like you are describing. No extra rewards though, just an 'atta-boy' banner when you win that you could screen shot and post for bragging rights.

    That sound OK?

    I don't think they can make that happen right now, everybody gets the same thing unless you choose a different CL. But CL9 doesn't have a challenge node at all...

    Anyway, I look forward to seeing what new matchups are in the second sub of this event! C'mon Chasm!

    I have to agree with entrail here. PvE is boring. It's more of a chore than a puzzle. Put some serious hurt into those challenge nodes at the minimum. It should be hard to clear x3. Make it so you can't just Golden Oldie everything to death at turn 0.

    Sidewinder on the CN in sub 2 also Mr negative on the 5E is a little tricky.

    I'd like to add to this -- it's nice that they updated this event this time, but it'd really be great if they could set up some kind of randomizer or rotation.

    If we just get the "new" Unstable ISO every time they run it, for several years straight, that'll get boring too. You shouldn't be able to know in advance exactly how long it'll take to open or close each sub. If there are challenging matchups that change every time events are run, winning PvE would require a lot more skill and be much more interesting.

    For all the flexing about making it a challenge, it is the player that chooses to make it boring by using Golden Oldie to t0 everything. You choose your team to run, why did you wait for the dev to make it "challenging"?

    Just came here to comment on that. Both of those are a bit of a "puzzle". Especially CN, I think targeting Ghost Rider first was the way to go. But am still not certain.

    I can choose the team I use in pve, and I never use golden oldie or whatever other pve cheese teams there are. I try to make fun teams from the boost list.

    I have no ability to choose the enemies. I can't make them more challenging. Only the devs can do that.

    I suppose I could use weak nonboosted characters, but intentionally knee capping myself in order to try and up the challenge artificially isn't fun.

    I don't use Golden Oldie to turn0 everything, for one. I use different boosted characters every week.

    But also, this is a competitive multiplayer game, and PvE has a leaderboard and placement awards. Right now PvE enemies are such boring pushovers that unless you use a turn0 team, you can't win at all. If they create more challenging fights that take longer to win, other strategies might have a chance to compete.
