Brave new world

Interested in the consensus on this.
My stance is it is miles better than any marvel movie has been for quite some time and would rate it on par with winter soldier.
So what say you? Been overly savaged by the critics or no better than dark world, quantumania, eternals or the marvels
Go my fellow nerds!, go!

Can someone explain to me how Sam can throw and more importantly catch the shield?

Right, he doesnt have super serum powers like Steve, but in the series (Falcon and Winter Soldier) you actually see him training with the shield to get the basic moves going.
Another thing I would like to get straight is the movie poster where Falcon (sry Cap!) takes a direct hit by Red on the shield. Wouldnt this blunt attack crush him even if the shield wasnt destroyed itself??

I am seeing it this week. Aside from Deadpool the MCU has been bad for so long that my expectations cannot help but be extremely low.
That said in the coming months we have Daredevil, Thunderbolts*, Superman, and the Fantastic Four, and I am looking forward to 3 of those that do not start with "T."

I haven't seen it but am extremely upset about it, for reasons I haven't figured out just yet.

But then he uses it in civilian clothes.
So, heck if I know.
I thought it was fine. I was entertained. Might watch it when it shows up on TV. The studio neutered it, though. Politics.

Sam-Cap is directly from the comics and not something the MCU just slapped together. You have people who turn into giant muscle-monsters, sorcerers jumping through dimensions, and aliens invading earth, but some guy throwing a shield is the most unrealistic thing to y'all? 😂😂😂

If you do, then there aren't really many limits you can put on what they can do since it's fantasy.
But we are all normal humans and so we know what normal humans can / can't do. So when we see something that doesn't make sense we tend to call it out more than we would with super powered beings. It's not much different than watching Rambo solo killing hundreds of guys in his movies with nary a scratch. We call that out too.

It's even a storyline in the movie we are talking about. Sam says multiple times "I should've taken the serum." His arc in the movie is him coming to accept that he made the right choice after all. They are rubbing it in our faces that this guy is just a guy. He shouldn't be able to do all the same stuff as Steve Rogers.
That's also why I love the aerial combat scene. THAT is something Sam should be able to do and kick butt. Great scene.

The Shield absorbs (and presumably somehow disperses) kinetic energy so even a normal human wielding it would be protected. In one of the Avengers movies it survives a direct hit from Mjolnir without damage or harm to Cap.

I would also add that there was nothing wrong with The Marvels, it is a perfectly solid film.

....but this is exactly my argument, original Cap is super serum strong and can take the impact on the shield. Falcon is only average human strength. Unless the shield somehow obtained anti gravity- or kinetic absorb abilities, I dont get it.

FalCap's suit also has vibranium tech (he got the upgrade in the TV show). It's kind of hand-wavey (vibranium, gamma radiation or unstable molecules are the answer to 90% of marvel questions) but it is what it is.

The shield absorbs the kinetic impact so it is not transferred to the user (that's what vibranium does, it absorbs/nullifies energy), so for Sam it would be as if he had been hit by a normal strength human as the shield nullifies the concussive force. So it is the shield, not the user which matters. It is the same "science" that operates in Black Panther's suit making him bulletproof.
Of course SamCap would not be able to use the shield in the same destructive way SteveCap did offensively due to their strength differences.

....the vibranium ability makes sense, however it was first later on that Shuri implemented that absorb-"tech" into Panther's suit and therefore it is not a "native" ability with Vibranium. So I guess that Shuri had a part to play in this new shield, or?
That makes the shield truly Afro-American, both in material as well as design!

I mean at this point I guess the best I can offer is "magic shield" coz I won't even pretend to understand how vibranium works...

I believe that's the official studio line.

Honestly, in his line of work, it's insane to not take it.
But public image is a thing and after people misused the serum in FatWS he can't take the risk of being judged for taking it himself.

More importantly who went and got the shield back after Rogue threw it away into the mountains in 1997!
